I was lucky enough to win this Expert Brush Collection on the lovely Carrie’s blog. I have tried a couple of brushes from The Body Shop in the past and been impressed by the quality of them, no shedding, they wash nicely and they are very soft. This set of brushes are very soft too and I’m so happy that there is a Foundation Brush in there as my beloved Real Techniques Stippling Brush broke a few weeks ago & I have been struggling to find a brush that applies foundation as well. So I’m going to put this brush to the test & hope it gives me a flawless look, I like to really buff my foundation in.
This Expert Brush Collection has 5 brushes & they are Concealer, Eyeshadow, Foundation , Blusher and Face & Body Brush. So they have everything covered (apart from a brow/eyeliner brush). These are all brushes I will use in my routines and think the Foundation & Blusher Brush will be getting a lot of use.
Let me know if you have used any makeup brushes from The Body Shop & if so what would you recommend.

Whilst on a Christmas present mission last week I totally caved and bought this gorgeous Eco Tools Fresh & Flawless Brush Set. I saw it & just had to have it. For a start the brushes have pretty patterned bamboo handles and they’re travel size, I know right – PERFECT!
These brushes come beautifully packaged on a book style box, on the inside cover you get a run down of each brush and a description on how best to use them. Very handy! You get 5 brushes in this set,
Flat Concealer Brush – Ideal for Covering blemishes.
Buffing Concealer Brush – Perfect for under the eye area. This buffs concealer in like a dream.
Precision Foundation Brush – This is tapered for getting a flawless finish in those awkward areas, like around the nose & eye area.
Complex Blending Brush – This can be used for foundation but I have been using it to contour & apply bronzer as it fits perfectly into the hollow of my cheekbones.
Full Powder Brush – This is perfect for applying blusher or your setting powder. Its fluffy and dense but the brush head isn’t too big and so you can apply just the perfect amount of product.
These are soft, very very soft brushes that are brilliant quality. They wash well and dry back to their original shape. Although they have a guide on how each brush should be used, like all brushes you find how they work for you & they’re multifunctional.
The Buffing Concealer Brush (blue) and the Complex Blending Brush (bronze) are my stand out brushes from this kit, I have used them both everyday since I bought them. Saying that I would be more than happy to only take these 5 brushes away with me on holiday & know that I had everything covered as the Flat Concealer Brush (green) could be used for eyeshadow. They really are 5 brushes worth buying, for £11.99 you’d be mad not too.
This kit has stole my heart & has been overshadowing my other brushes. They’re lovely to use and look very pretty so that makes them perfect in my book. Do you own any Eco Tool Brushes? I’d love to hear your suggestions. Oh & you NEED this pretty kit in your life, yes you do!

When elf did their 50% sale a few weeks ago I bought a few products, I didn’t go too mad as I already have lots of elf makeup but it was hard to resist and there were a few items on my wish list & a couple of products that people had recommended for me. This is what I bought,
I have a few of the elf baked blushes and I love them so I thought I would try a baked eyeshadow and went for the shade Pixie. It is a pretty rose gold with a hint of pink. It has a nice shimmer to it but not too glitzy. I think this will look really nice all over the lid. It isn’t the most pigmented to swatch but I am hoping that I can build the colour up on my lids.
I’m trying to add a few more lipsticks to my collection and I thought why not try one from elf. I bought the shade Classy which is a very easy to wear Pink, it has no shimmer in it which is great. I find this to be long wearing and not too drying on my lips. The packaging is just very basic but functional. I wish I’d bought a few more of these in other shades.
I am obsessed with Eyeliner Pens and I have far too many so it was inevitable that I’d buy another one. They claim this one is waterproof, so I will put it to the test. I bought the shade Black and it seems quite dark, not sure how long it will last before drying out but I’m excited to see how long it wears.
I bought two blushes, I asked on Twitter what colours people recommended and so many of you said Berry Merry and Blushing Rose. They are both gorgeous and perfect warm colours for Winter. Although if I am honest they both look like the same colour to me. A deep berry colour with a hint of brown. I do love them. Maybe I will notice a difference when they’re on my cheeks. They swatch really well and pigmented.
I forgot to photograph the Mineral Moisturising Lip Tint SPF8 in the shade Natural as I’ve already put that in my handbag. It is so nice. It has a hint of colour, I’d say it was a light nude brown with a hint of pink. I love it & will be buying more of these. It is very hydrating and handy to throw in your bag.
Lastly I bought an Eyelid Primer, I really wanted the sheer one but that had sold out so I opted for the Champagne colour. This has a sparkle to it so not sure how that will look under my shadow but I’m excited as I love their sheer one and use it all the time.
Did you take advantage of the 50% sale? If so what did you buy & would you recommend any of the products you bought.

I wanted to let you all you beauty junkies know that TK Maxx have some really great deals on Murad Skincare sets. I bought this Sun Undone Starter Kit for £8 and I have seen it sold online for £80!. They had a few different kits and I’m popping back to get a couple more as gifts, these would make great stocking fillers. Be quick, at that price I’m sure they won’t be around long.
This kit is aimed at reducing the damage caused by UVA & UVB rays. It contains 4 products
Essential C Cleanser 45ml
Advanced Active Radiance Serum 10ml
Essential C Day Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30 21ml
Essential C Eye Cream Broad Spectrum SPF15 4ml
These products are also aimed at enhancing radiance and protecting skin from future environmental damage. I’ve used Murad skincare in the past and really liked it, their Clarifying range is really good if you suffer from blemishes. I’m excited to use this.
Let me know if you’ve tried anything from this range or if you’ve picked up a beauty bargain in TK Maxx. Oh & why do TK Maxx have to put so many annoying sticky labels on their products. I can never get them off.

I saw Superdrug were having a 3 for 2 & I decided to sample a makeup brand that is budget friendly and that I had never tried before. Miss Sporty is a brand I remember from being quite young although I haven’t used their makeup before. They had quite a wide range but these 3 products took my fancy.
First up is this So Matte Perfect Stay Smooth Pressed Powder – I went for the shade 001 light. It promises to last all day (which I doubt) and to also minimise shine and give you a natural matte finish. I like the sound of that. Like most people I tend to use the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and would like to give something different a go. So will be putting it to the test next week. The packaging is nice and you get a large mirror in the lid and it is hot pink! £1.99 for 9.4g
Next is this pretty Cat’s Eyes Palette 004 Mineral Earth and this is what caught my attention & hooked me in. It is pretty and has 4 pretty wearable shades. They feel quite creamy & I swatched the tester in store & was shocked at how pretty and pigmented the 2 darker brown shades were. £3.99
Lastly I noticed this Liquid Concealer With Vitamins E & C - I bought the shade 001 light – I’ve tried so many concealers from budget to highend and they almost all crease like hell on my under eye area. The best I have found so far is the Rimmel Wake Me Up which is good but not amazing. I thought why not give this a go, From swatching it, it feels creamy but not heavy and is quite easy to blend. I am going to wear it this weekend and see how well it works under my eyes. £2.99 for 5ml.
Have you tried anything from Miss Sporty? I liked the look of a few nail polishes, so I will see how I get on with these three products and then I might pop back and try a few more products.

I popped into Manchester on Friday to meet my lovely friend for lunch, as she has just gotten Engaged. So excited to get crafty & do lots of wedding related gossiping, shopping and planning! So whilst I was in the City I did a little shopping. There were so many Christmas displays and offers on, Manchester felt very festive. I didn’t buy any Christmas presents, everything I bought was for myself (terrible). I managed to restrain myself from buying everything & treated myself to four things.
I initially went into LUSH to look at their Christmas releases but I made the mistake of going in on a Friday afternoon during half term and it was beyond busy, I couldn’t get near anything Festive. So I picked up a couple of bath products from the regular range & called it a day in there. I will go back in mid week now the schools are back.
I bought Creamy Candy – this is one of my favourites. Its smells so nice & leaves my skin soft. I also bought Pop in The Bath, I haven’t tried this one before but it smells lovely. So I’m looking forward to using these.
I have wanted to try the Clinique Chubby Sticks since they were released & I missed out on their Christmas Set last year (it sold out so fast) so when I saw this Whole Lotta Candy mini trio for £20 in Boots I had to have them. You get 3 mini chubby sticks in the shades Voluptuous Violet, Pudgy Peony and Two Ton Tomato.
I have a couple of polishes from Sinful Colors and when I’m in Boots I have to buy one. The stand in the Manchester store is always so well stocked and for £1.99 they’re a bargain. I picked a really pretty blue called Love Nails 282. You will need two coats of this & give it time to dry otherwise you’ll get bubbles.

I just couldn’t pass up on this offer in Boots a couple of weeks ago, 3 for £10 on all 17 products. I was surprised by how many new products had been launched and most of them I had no idea about. It took me quite a while to make my decision but I settled on these 3 products. I look forward to putting them to the test.
I have heard mixed reviews of the Phwoarr Paint Concealer, I wasn’t sure on what shade would be the best match for me, I picked the fair one and that looks ok maybe a little too light but I think I can work with it. This little compact has a mirror in too which is very handy and surprising for the price! I am hoping it is similar to my beloved Benefit Boiing concealer, we will have to see. The packaging reminds me of the bobbi brown creamy concealer although the seventeen one is alot bigger. 12g for £5.49
I did’t even know Seventeen had a CC Cream so i just had to give it a go. I have never tried any CC Creams so will be interested to see how I get on with this. It says its finish is Matte & Radiant so thats exciting as I normally associate radiance with a more dewy finish. I picked the shade fair in this but I thought the shade range was poor – from what I can tell there are only two shades, Fair or Medium. The good thing about this CC Cream is that it has SPF 25. 30ml for £6.99
Last up I bought their Back Lash Mascara in Blackest Black, like I need another mascara but I liked the look of the fibre brush. Seventeen have quite a range of mascara’s I know I love their Peep Show one & excited to give this a whirl. It promises to give my lashes definition, lift, length and volume – these are some bold claims! I am expecting alot. 9ml for £6.49
I saved £8.97 on my purchases, I’m please with my choices, did you take advantage of the offer? Or have you tried any of these products? Give me your Seventeen product recommendations.

I’ve always wanted to try the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair £65 for 50ml but I could never bring myself to part with the cash. Since Caroline Hirons (Skincare Oracle) gave the new formula her seal of approval I knew I had to buy it. I owe it to my skin, right!? So I visited the Boots Counter and made my purchase (feeling a little guilty at the price tag). The lady on the Estee Lauder counter gave me a sample of the Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream & a mini mascara to try. I do love a free gift & look forward to using these.
The main difference with the new Night Repair formula is that it doesn’t have any mineral oil in so that’s good news. This product is meant to make your skin look glowing, give hydration and slow down the signs of ageing. Can’t wait to start using this. I’m expecting nothing short of a miracle.
Do you use this? Do you think it is worth the price tag?

So I bit the bullet and bought a better camera, I bought a point & shoot the Olympus SZ – 11 last year & it always left me wishing my photos were a little crisper and it wasn’t great in low light. So I didn’t like using it.
My husband found a great deal on Amazon for a Canon 1100D that we were buying for one of our businesses and I had a good play with it to see if it was any good for what I wanted it for. Well I loved it, it’s so easy to use and although I have a lot to learn about all the settings, options and all the lenses you can get – I already love the photos and the quality so I bought my own. I’m so glad I did, it was most definitely worth the upgrade.
I also bought a tripod so I can take some crisp macro shots. I feel like a pro carrying this about (all the gear and no idea). My blog photos should start looking better from here on in. What camera do you use?

Its been a while since I did any beauty related shopping in the UK, after spending quite alot whilst on holiday in San Francisco back in June I’ve tried to stay away from any new collections and the temptation of Boots & Superdrug. I think I’ve done quite well, that being said I popped into boots yesterday & found lots of items 3rd off or 1/2 price, I also had a voucher for the Bontanics line so that added to my savings. This is what I came home with.
Olay Glow Perfectors Multiradiance Moisturising Lotion 75ml – £5.32 (full price £7.99)
Botanics Microdermabrasion Polish 125ml – £3.99 (full price £7.99)
Botanics Skin Relief Serum 30ml – £3.99 (full price £7.99)
Botanics BB Cream Radiant Youth SPF30 50ml – £5.99 (full price £8.99)
L’Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution 200ml – £3.32 (full price £4.99)
So with my extra £3 off Botanics products I saved a total of £19.34. Love me a bargain! I have wanted to try the L’Oreal Micellar water after reading a good review of it on gemsmaquillage. The other bits I picked up on a whim to try. Have you tried any of my recent purchases? Look out for reviews on these items in the near future.← Older Entries
