June & July 2015 Product Empties

June & July Empties 2015

Garnier Micellar Water Combination & Sensitive Skin – As far as I could tell this wasn’t much different to the one in the pink packaging. I still liked it & it was as good at removing my mascara and bulk of my makeup. I love to stock up on this from my local Savers as they always have it for less than £3. I even have the cutest mini bottle to take with me on my holidays. I will forever repurchase this (or the pink one) – it’s best high street Micellar Water that I’ve found.

The Body Shop Satsuma Beautifying Oil – This was from one of the amazing British Beauty Blogger boxes & I really liked using it. It seemed to last me ages considering its quite a small bottle. I only used it on my thighs, I liked to massage it in to get the blood flowing and it left my skin feeling so smooth and not at all greasy. It also smells like Summer – orange is such a lovely scent and although it didn’t linger too long it was a nice uplifting scent for the morning. I would repurchase this again.

Chapstick Mixstix – This is a double ended lip balm so you get two flavours. I bought this a while ago from America and have its taken me ages to use it up. I did like it & thought having two flavours in one was a great idea. I used the cherry side quicker than the lemon but both smelt sweet and fruity and although not the most hydrating of lip products its still nice to have in your handbag and very inexpensive. Wouldn’t rush out to repurchase.

Elizabeth Grant Collagen Re-Inforce Platinum 24hr Firming Eye Cream* – This 30ml tube lasted me almost a whole year. I thought it was hydrating and very nourishing, my under eyes looked very smooth when I used this. It sits well under makeup and doesn’t look greasy but keeps my concealer looking fresh all day. I would repurchase this.

Origins Plantscription™ Anti-aging Power Serum* This is a nice serum, I used it as my overnight serum and I’d wake up to smooth, fresh glowing skin. It smells quite botanical so if you’re not a fan of fragranced skincare this isn’t for you. This serum leaves your skin feeling so silky smooth but after a few months use I didn’t see any significant changes in my fine lines. Its quite a thin water based serum so its easy to massage in to the skin and a little goes a long way, this tube lasted me about 4 months and I did love using it. Despite not seeing massive results in terms of anti ageing this was a really nice hydrating serum that helped my skin look radiant and fresh. Let me know if you have tried anything from the Plantscription range.

NARS Brightening Serum –  I wouldn’t say it was an amazing purchase and I was unsure how to use it at first. In the end I started to mix a little either with my moisturiser or my foundation but I wouldn’t say it was fantastic at making my skin look bright and glowing it was quite greasy and didn’t sink in to my skin very well. I much prefer Brightening Primers like the B one or the Revlon ones. Much cheaper and I think better quality.

Crazy Rumors Black Cherry Lipbalm – This smells so good & its extremely hydrating on the lips. It does a great job at keeping my lips moisturised. I don’t have to reapply it that much throughout but I like having it to hand & I just love the scent of it . Crazy Rumor offer a wide selection of flavours and they all sound lovely so I would repurchase a new flavour as they have so many to try!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Toner – This is such a gentle toner, I used it mostly as part of my morning skincare regime, it left my skin feeling clean and refreshed. It didn’t make my skin dry or tight and a bottle lasted me 6 months of almost daily use. I love the Vitamin E range and always have a couple of products on the go & always repurchase.

Batiste Dry Shampoo – Now I have shorter hair (jaw length) I don’t have to wash it as often which makes me very happy. I do like to use a dry shampoo on the 3rd & 4th day, this helps absorb the oils and gives it a bit of volume. Yes this one can leave a white cast but I just rub that away & all is good. Batiste is just such a good price that I always go back to it even after trying other brands.

Bath & Body Works Hand Sanitiser – These are so fun and smell incredible. If I’m not going to America any time soon I tend to stock up on these via eBay, there are quite a few sellers and although you can’t get 5 for $5 you can get them for a half decent price. This Noel one was hanging around from my Christmas stash and I was excited to finally use it up so I could open a new more Summer appropriate scent. Let me know what your favourite scents are – they do SO many!

Ted Baker Sweet Sugar Body Wash* – Love the pink and rose gold packaging of this collection – it was so pretty. It left my skin soft and smelling of jasmine & patchouli which is quite floral and summery. I think Ted Baker have been releasing some fantastic body products, great quality and so affordable. The Body Spray in this Sweet Sugar range is amazing, you have to give it a test next time you’re in Boots!

5 Current Skincare Favourites

Soap & Glory Peaches & Clean Deep Cleansing Milk £8.00 – I took this with me on my recent trip to Scotland & I used it every evening to cleanse off my makeup. It is a very gentle creamy cleanser that doesn’t dry out or strip your skin. Its not amazing at removing eye makeup but I do tend to remove that with a micellar water first then just make sure its all off with the cleanser. It leaves my skin feeling soft and clean and after 3 weeks of daily use my skin is looking bright and it hasn’t broke me out. This cleanser smells incredible and sweet and I have been surprised at how much I have liked using it as I tend to use a cleansing oil but this has been a nice alternative. Its also so handy having the pump dispenser & this is the larger 200ml bottle so will last forever.

Balance Me Radiance Mask £18.00 – I like to use this mask in the morning (when I have time). It has a thick creamy consistency with fine exfoliating walnut shells which you smooth over the skin & leave it to work its magic. You then massage it off lightly letting the fine walnut shells exfoliate your skin, to reveal smooth, hydrated & radiant skin. I promise your skin will feel so smooth after using this. Balance Me say you can use this product in two ways – if you’re in a rush then you can use it as a face wash or if you have time on your side you sit back, relax and use it as a treatment mask. I do like a multi purpose product. This product removes dead skin, replenishes lost moisture and soothes & smooths your skin. I love it!

Vichy Idealia Eye Cream* 23.00 – This is the perfect eye cream if your skin is dehydrated & fatigued but the first thing I have to talk about is the really cool applicator, It’s a silicone spatula & the product comes out of a little hole in the centre. It makes applying the eye cream very hygienic and really easy. This cream has quite a thick creamy consistency, so if you’re looking for a really nourishing hydrating eye cream then this is for you. It does take a couple of minutes to absorb but once it has you’re left with smooth, hydrated and brighter looking skin. This cream helps reduce the signs of fatigue as it contains caffeine & is enriched with instant illuminators and a combination of DRM-Bright complex and vitaminB3. I think it has helped reduce puffiness and dark circles too. It wears well under concealer & foundation, although the formula is on the heavy side it isn’t greasy. I really like this as part of my morning routine & have used hardly any product even though I have been using it for a couple of months. If you’re on the hunt for a new eye cream give this a go!

ESPA Naturally Radiant Gradual Tan– This is a brand new product from ESPA & a great addition to their range. It is a lightweight nourishing formula that is no fuss or mess, you simply apply it like a body lotion and leave it to work its magic. It gives your skin a gorgeous natural glow which develops over four hours and intensifies each day. The formula has a combination of Shea Butter, Coconut and Sweet Almond Oil which leave the skin feeling deeply hydrated and soft whilst Jasmine, Rosewood and Ylang Ylang essential oils leave your skin subtlety scented. I can 100% say this smells incredible.

La Roche Posay Micellar Water – This is a great gentle but effective micellar water. I use it to remove my eye makeup before cleansing & it even removes my Benefit Roller Lash, which is very stubborn. It has a very light scent to it but nothing overpowering and it never stings or irritates my eyes. So if you’re in the market for a new micellar water then this is a great option & now that it is stocked in many Boots stores its so easy to get hold of.

March Empties

I finished four Bath & Body Works antibacterial hand gels. I love these and they have so many scents to pick from. All four of these were really nice, my least favourite was the Crisp Golden Pear and my favourite was the Merry Cookie. Let me know what your favourite scents are as I want to try some more.

March 2015 Empties

Soap & Glory Butter Yourself – this is a lovely thick sweet smelling body lotion. It was so good over the Winter and kept my skin smooth and moisturised. These huge tubs last ages.

St Ives Face Wipes – I bought these in the Poundshop & use them to remove lipstick & eye makeup. Always handy to have in the stash.

Bodhi & Birch Neroli Luce Revitalising Face Oil – This is the perfect boost for your skin. It hydrates, keeps skin supple and helps smooth fine lines. This is an oil that has so many skin benefits and I like to use it as a night treatment & by morning my skin looks plump, fresh and glowing. A little goes a very long way. I’m sad that this has run out but I will be treating myself to another bottle.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist – I really like using face mists & use them to refresh my makeup, hydrate my skin and to sooth my skin. This one has been really nice and calming for my skin & its a great product to have in your handbag or on your desk so you can use it throughout the day.

Mio Quickstart Exhilarating Shower Gel – This has a minty scent that is perfect for using in the morning it kick starts your day and wakes you up. It makes my skin feel soft and is so invigorating. From the same brand I also used up the Mio The A Cream Firming Body Cream – I LOVED this & used it every morning, it was so nice to massage in. I focused this cream on my legs and stomach, its infused with Hyluronic Acid to retain moisture, loaded with Aloe Vera to sooth and smooth and also contains omega-rich Organic Shea Butter to repair & rebuild cells. So it is packed full of skin benefits, I have loved using this & would highly recommend it.

Urban Veda Radiance Body Scrub* – This is the first product I have tried from this brand & now I am wanting to try everything. I try to use a body scrub everyday, especially on my thighs. They’re a great way of not only removing dead skin, giving you smooth skin but also great at getting the circulation and blood flowing. This Urban Veda scrub contains Pomegranate Seed Powder and Pumice to buff away the skin, Liquorice to give luminosity, Arjuna to boost collagen. Its not abrasive but it will give you a great scrub. It also smells botanical and fresh.

March Empties

e.l.f Eye Primer – This is the best budget eye primer & I have used up so many of these. It does a good job of keeping my eye makeup in place for hours.

Apivita Pomegranate & Olive Oil Lip balm* – This is so nice to use, its smooth and hydrating on the lips. It has a slight sweet scent and gives your lips just a hint of glossy colour. It feels like it is caring for your lips (if that makes any sense). It has a very light rose tint to it on the lips. It contains pomegranate oil and vitamins E, F and C and is 98% Natural. Apivita is sold in select Marks & Spencer shops now so keep your eyes peeled. These Lip balms come in 6 varieties.

Nip & Fab Bee Venom Eye Cream* – I was quite skeptical of this when it first arrived but after a few weeks of use I noticed my eyes looked less tired and fine lines appeared smoother. The formula is quite creamy and works well under makeup. I like to use this in the morning as it plumps the skin and hydrates the under eye area. Although the cream is quite thick it isn’t greasy which is why I like to use it in the morning. Nip & Fab have a whole Bee Venom range which I have been trying & so far everything is working well. Look out for reviews of the rest of the range soon.

U Little Beauty Dream Time Enriching Night Cream is an Australian company who pride themselves on being Cruelty Free, Vegan, Natural and Organic. There are no nasties in their products. This cream is made in Byron Bay, Australia and contains the Australian Kakadu Plum Extract, which has the worlds richest source of vitamin C. Vitamin C is essential for collagen which is a key structural protein of the skin. The Kaduka Plum is also rich in antioxidants which help reduce skin damage caused by free radicals and exposure to harsh environmental elements which can make your skin congested and dull. Also excellent at combating the signs of ageing. So this cream combats signs of dullness and keeps your skin looking its best. So its an ultra rich nigh cream that really protects and cares for your skin. I have loved being introduced to this brand & highly recommend it.

Merumaya Overnight Recharge Night Cream* – If you want a night cream that transforms your skin this is for you. It smooths lines, reduces the signs of fatigue and delivers a boost of hydration. All whilst you sleep. It is a rich cream but it feels lightweight on your skin, not at all heavy or greasy. It also has that signature Merumaya scent which I find calming. This a night cream that would work for all ages as it doesn’t just target one skin concern but instead focuses on boosting hydration and combating skin fatigue whilst lifting and firming skin. Its an all rounder thats for sure. Merumaya is also created and manufactured in Britain.

Vaseline Essential Moisture Lotion – I used this as a hand cream over the Winter when my hands were so dry and looking terrible. It worked well to hydrate them and help them look smooth and younger. I always had it with me in my handbag & thought it did a good job.

Origins GinZing Mascara* –  This mascara is great at separating your lashes & it keeps a curl like no other! I like my lashes to look fluttery and this works well at achieving that. You can build it up on your lashes so they look thick without being crispy. I also like the chunky packaging & I’ve grown to love the big oversized wand. Its a very good all round mascara & I think its quite an unsung hero.

January 2015 Empties Part 2

January Empty Products

Nspa Melting Cleansing Gel – This is the first product I’ve tried from nspa & let me tell you it did not disappoint, in fact its fast becoming one of my favourite cleansers. I’m a big fan of gel cleansers and I love how smooth, hydrated and clean they leave my skin. This one from nspa is available in ASDA so it is very affordable and readily available. Its packed full of skincare benefits and its suitable for all skin types. I’m sad it is all gone & I squeezed out every last bit of product, I will be buying another one before the week is out.

Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo – I bought this from the Poundshop & love to try a new dry shampoo. Since I had my hair cut into a short bob I don’t wash it as often and dry shampoo has become my best friend. I wasn’t a big fan of this, it left my hair feeling quite dirty and it wasn’t that good at absorbing oil. Not one I would repurchase.

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist* – This is my all time favourite toner – This 100ml bottle lasted me a couple of months & I use it all the time, so its well worth investing in. The product comes out in a light mist that gently covers your skin & doesn’t spray out like a jet soaking you & giving you the fright of your life (that has happened to me before with quite a few facial toners). I love how it stops my skin from drying out and the rose scent is very uplifting and calming. A few spritz of this throughout the day leaves my skin feeling soft, soothed and hydrated. I had a bottle waiting in the wings & I have already started using it, its so good.

Origins Ginzing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser* –  This is a great 2 in 1 product as the gel cleanser removes makeup and dirt  whilst the exfoliating beads help remove the dead skin and awaken dull tired complexion. If you like to use products that help promote a glowing healthy complexion then this is for you & it also is a really gentle yet effective scrub. You don’t need to scrub your face off, just softly massage it in to your skin & rinse off. I can’t wait to get another bottle.

ESPA Bergamot, Jasmine & Cedarwood Foam Bath* This was such a treat & if you like to enjoy a pampering bath you will love this bubble bath from ESPA. It smells luxurious & grown up, I think the scent is quite calming too. It leaves my skin feeling very soft & nourished. This 300ml bottle lasted almost 6 months. I would 100% use this again, it was such a treat.

Garnier Micellar Water – This is the best micellar water I have tried, I think it works better than bioderma. Its more easily available and is such an affordable price too. I always have a bottle waiting in the wings. I use it everyday to remove my eye makeup and it never irritates or dries my skin out. I’m sure most of you reading have already tried it but if not I highly recommend it.

Merumaya Treatment Toner* This is such a nice daily toner, I liked to use it in the mornings as it left my skin feeling refreshed, smooth and hydrated. It is very gentle, I can get quite red skin on my cheeks in particular when I use a toner but this Merumaya one didn’t irritate at all. It contains Vitamin C which helps brighten skin, Sodium Hyaluronate which helps reduce water loss & gives the skin a plump firm look. There are so many skin benefits and I really enjoyed using this, it kept my skin hydrated during some very cold months! I would use this again & recommend you check out Merumaya skincare if you haven’t already. Their skincare is very affordable and wonderful quality. I only wish they made this & all their other products in larger sizes.
