Four Summer Favourites

Clinique Super City Block SPF40 £18.00

As many of you will know I use a facial SPF on a daily basis and have a couple that I really like (La Roche Posay Anthlios & Balance Me) but I have wanted to try this City Block from Clinique for such a long time. This gives your skin a high level of protection against UVA & UVB rays as well as being oil free, so it is ticking all the boxes for me. Its also a great primer for your makeup because its oil free and won’t slide off your face in the heat and my makeup sits so well on top. The cream does have a tint to it but once applied to the skin its adapts to your skin tone and makes your skin look and feel hydrated. Its not just an effective broad spectrum SPF but it also has many antioxidants which protect your skin from environmental damage and help boost sun protection.

I like that its not heavy or greasy but it does give the skin a dewy finish. If this isn’t your thing you can lightly powder after you have finished your makeup & it will help it look less dewy (which is what I have been doing most days). I have been using it daily and haven’t had a reaction to it or a breakout which is good. I think one of the things that most impressed me about this product was the price, at £18.00 I think it is a bargain, you get 40ml of product which is going to last you a good few months. I have been recommending this to friends and family and really think its one of my favourite discoveries of 2015.

Olivine Atelier Love + Roses Beauty Mist £12.95

I have the smaller 2oz bottle & its just so cute! It is a glass bottle and the design is so sleek and pretty. This Beauty Mist has a really pretty floral scent which is refreshing and uplifting, its so nice to have sat on your desk to use when you feel a little tired or in need of a boost of hydration. This isn’t just a run of the mill face spray Olivine Atelier have included lots of ingredients that will help hydrate, soothe and combat the signs of aging. Its quite incredible & includes,

  • Rosa Damascena Flower Water & Rosa Damascena Flower Oil: known to refine and renew skin at the cellular level, with powerful anti-inflammatory action
  • Cassia Augustifolia Seed Polysaccharide: mimics hyaluronic acid to retain water on the surface of the skin and hair
  • Rhodiola Rosea Root Extract: a powerhouse adaptogenic herb that protects skin and hair from environmental damage, minimises fine lines and wrinkles, and assists with stress and fatigue management
  • Moringa Seed Extract: a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that promotes collagen production, supports skin firmness, and boosts the immune system
  • Andean Orchid Flower essence promotes youthful vitality and cellular regeneration
  • Rose Quartz essence + other precious gems: for soul-affirming aromatherapy, the revitalising and uplifting powers of self-love, confidence, grace, beauty and self-esteem

I’ve had my bottle for almost 4 months now and Its almost empty, although I’ve been using it most days so I think It has lasted a good amount of time but in future I will be buying the larger 8oz size because its now a staple in my beauty routine & I think I need a bigger bottle!

The Body Shop Italian Fig Fragrance Mist £8.50

This is part of a new collection from The Body Shop and I love it, the scent is so fresh and for a body mist it has very good staying power, I can smell it for hours after I’ve sprayed it. For me Fig is just such a unique scent and it smells sophisticated and complex. Its quite a strong scent and I like that, its not for everyone but for me its just such a refreshing and pretty scent.

I have tried quite a few of The Body Shop Mists & they’re amazing quality for the price. I would love to try the EDT from the same range. What are your favourite products from The Body Shop?

& Other Stories Fig Fiction Body Lotion £7.00

The scent of this body lotion is so good & much like The Body Shop Italian Fig range but a little sweeter. This is my 3rd bottle and I will continue to repurchase over and over. Its a great size and the pump makes it so easy to get the product out. It smells luxurious and the cream makes my skin feel smooth and hydrated. I often use it as a hand cream too because its so hydrating and not at all greasy. I really like the simple packaging style, its one of the reasons I like & Other Stories products so much.

DKNY Delicious Delights Cool Swirl

DKNY Delicious DelightsDKNY Delicious Delights 2015

Spring saw the release of the DKNY Delicious Delights – A limited edition collection of fragrances inspired by Sweet Sorbet Treats. These Sorbet Perfumes come in the iconic Be Delicious apple packaging which is something we all recognise and associate with DKNY. The bottles are really pretty and I like that they’re frosted glass and pastel coloured, perfect for Spring / Summer, mine looks so cute on my vanity.

The scents themselves are quite sweet and fresh but each one is so different. I was drawn to Cool Swirl* (green) because although it’s quite sweet it still has a musky layer to it and thats my kind of scent.

Cool Swirl (green) – is a refreshing tropical scent with top notes of black cranberry (or European blueberry), violet leaf and coconut water. Flowers of magnolia and jasmine are wrapped in creamy pistachio sorbet and laid on the base of heliotrope, musk and patchouli.

Dreamsicle (orange) – is a fresh fruity blend of mandarin, raspberry and blueberry at the top. Tempting and delicious aromas of green apple, peach nectar and apricot sorbet forms the heart. Its creamy base consists of cedar, sandalwood and vanilla.

Fruity Rooty (lilac) – is a sweet fruity scent that opens with a combination of blackberry, blueberry and mandarin. The heart of rose, violet and candied apple sorbet is followed by the base that combines elegant lily with vanilla.

DKNY Summer Scent

I have been using Cool Swirl for a good few months now, reaching for it when the weather is warm outside. It is my Summer scent for sure, when I first spray it I can really smell the fruity notes but as it settles down the patchouli and musk come through and it smells so good. Its the perfect fun, refreshing summer scent, I think its more of a daytime scent just because its quite light and fresh. Cool Swirl does last quite a long time on me which is good news because the packaging is a little bulky to be carrying around in your handbag.

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier EDP

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau de Parfum

Roger & Gallet are a French Perfumery House founded in 1862 by merchant Charles Armand Roger and banker Charles Matial Gallet. Their products have such a rich history & they are famous for their beautiful scents which I have tried quite a few of but excitingly, 2015 see’s the release of Roger & Gallet first ever Eau de Parfum – Fleur de Figuier. I was lucky enough & thrilled to receive the most exquisite parcel from Roger & Gallet introducing me to this new release and I have fallen head over heals in love with it.

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier EDP* takes its inspiration from the beautiful Mediterranean Summers and encapsulates those sensual, sweet and fresh long Summer evenings.

‘Discover the bliss of an early evening spent in the Mediterranean garden of Esterel. This Eau de Parfum is a precious distillation of natural essences that reveals the intensity and sensuality of a sun-ripened fig heart. The mouth-watering and contrasting fresh notes enhance the accord of candied fig, musk and patchouli, for a truly relaxing effect.’

  • Top notes: precious essences of mandarin and pink peppers
  • Heart notes: fig tree leaves, juicy fig and violet wood
  • Base notes: white musk, candied fig and precious essence of patchouli

My absolute favourite scent in any product is Fig & if you’re a long time reader of my blog you will know this. I adore the scent because it’s so rich, distinctive and sophisticated and I think its a scent that can be worn all year round. This new addition to the Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier range is an intense, long wearing scent that doesn’t dull throughout the day. I only have to apply this in the morning & It still smells beautiful on my skin long into the evening.

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau de Parfum

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier

Some days I spray it & It smells really musky whilst other days It smells more woody. I love that its such a layered and sophisticated perfume and I have been reaching for it almost every day for 3 weeks.

If you’re looking for a new scent then I can highly recommend this new release from Roger & Gallet, it comes beautifully packaged in a glass bottle with touches of gold and purple and the scent is utterly divine. This is my favourite release from Roger & Gallet and think it will be a popular addition to their range.

Ted Baker – Sugar Sweet Collection

Ted Baker Body Spray & Body Wash

Ted Baker has given their indulgent bath and body collection a Spring makeover and also introduced a few new editions with the gorgeous Sugar Sweet Collection. This collection depicts one of Ted Bakers most iconic floral prints which is set against a backdrop of soft mint or pretty pink. Both collections look luxurious but true to Ted Baker they’re affordable and ideal for everyday use.

I have two of the Soft Floral Pink products from the Sugar Sweet Collection and I’ve been testing them out for a couple of weeks. Ted Baker describes it as,

Entwines the soft floral notes of jasmine & neroli, while the base of patchouli, sandalwood and musk completes the scent.

Ted Baker Ladies Body Spray

Ted Baker Pink Body Spray* £7 – I had to look twice at the price because this is just the most beautifully packaged spring / summer scent. Its just gorgeous, it has a cream & rose gold lid which had the letter T engraved on the top whilst the pink toned plastic travel friendly bottle has almost a diamond prism cutout base. So feminine and amazingly affordable. I have been spritzing this since it landed on my doorstep last week. It is a body spray so it is lightweight and won’t be a scent that will last from morning to night but it is ideal for popping in your handbag and spritzing on the go, its the perfect daytime scent. Im very very impressed.

Ted Baker - Beautiful Packaging

Ted Baker Pink Body Wash* £8 – Which comes beautifully packaged in a large pink squeeze tube with a pretty floral print, like the body spray this has rose gold touches with the letter T embossed at the top and a rose gold lid. Its a simple touch but it makes it look so much more luxurious and its why I love Ted Baker products, their attention to detail is spot on and you always feel like you’re getting such a treat. This perfumed body wash is a shower mush have & it not only leaves your skin feeling soft & clean but also with a pretty subtle scent of jasmine & patchouli, which have to be two of my favourite scents.

Ted Baker Sugar Sweet Collection

The Sugar Sweet Collection has something for everyone and if you’re looking for an affordable but beautiful gift then make sure you check it out because I think you will be very impressed.
