Keeping it Simple

Lip Options

I love makeup but the one area I seem to shy away from is lipsticks, I don’t know why I just never seem to wear them & have a total of 4 in my current collection. I do however like to keep my lip products quite simple and I have got quite the collection of lipbalms and glosses. So here is a run down of the 7 I have been using the most.

EOS Organic Summer Fruit Lip Balm Sphere £5.95 – These lip balms seem to have quite a mixed reaction from people. I know many that think they don’t do much for your lips but I like them. They are easy to use & the packaging is quite fun. They come in a variety of flavours and keep my lips feeling hydrated. They’re handy to throw in your bag. They last for ages & never seem to go down. Great value for money.

Korres Wild Rose Lip Butter  £8 – This gives your lips a good wash of colour as well as being hydrating. These pots from Korres are delightful & I think they’re my most loved lip product. This Wild Rose shade gives your lips a lovely deep Berry colour. Its been my go to Autumn/Winter lip. These are quick and easy to apply no mirror needed, perfect for on the go. I have nothing at all bad to say about these.

Apivita Pomegranate Lip Care* £5.00 – This is so nice to use, its smooth and hydrating on the lips. It has a slight sweet scent and gives your lips just a hint of glossy colour. It feels like it is caring for your lips (if that makes any sense). It contains pomegranate oil and vitamins E, F and C and is 98% Natural. Apivita is sold in select Marks & Spencer shops now so keep your eyes peeled. These Lip balms come in 6 varieties.

Lip products I love

No7 BB Lips in Blink Pink £8.50 – I’ve spoke about this before & my tube is almost empty but this is one of my favourite lip products as it’s so easy to wear, the colour is pretty and flattering on my lips and the formula is hydrating and not sticky at all. They’re well worth picking up & they have 6 shades in total. I might have to buy Berry Rose next time. Do you have any of these?

LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub £5.50 – I use this a couple of times a week just to keep my lips smooth and it takes off all the dry skin. Some days I really like the scent of this & other days I find it too sweet, I think I will try the Mint one next time. These pots last ages & mine hasn’t dried out, it is definitely a product I would recommend to a friend.

Smith’s Rosebud Salve £8.50 – I guess this is just like Vaseline in a cuter & bigger tin. I bought this from American Apparel & I like to use it in the morning when I am doing my skincare routine just to hydrate my lips. This tin is still looking good even though for the most part it lives at the bottom of a handbag. Just another great lip balm.

Lip products I love

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Nourishing Lip Balm SPF 20*   This is my heavy duty lip balm, the big guns & it is what I reach for if my lips are dry or when I need something with a little more healing quality. This is a pot of very hydrating peach coloured lip balm (its colourless on the lips). I put this on last thing at night and wake up with what I would describe as soft kissable lips. I like that it has SPF 20 in as that means my lips are also protected against the sun, it can be easy to forget to apply an SPF to your lips. If you suffer from very dry lips or tend to get chapped lips during the winter this could be a great product for you.

Tell me what lip products yo have been using a lot over the winter.

Products that are marked with an * have either been sent to me for my consideration or I’ve received at events. I’m under no obligation to review them on my blog. However if I do, the reviews are 100% my own.

I really need to dig out my Lush scrub, my lips have been horribly dry at the moment! I love the Korres lip butters too, I got one in a set recently that’s in a tube instead of a pot which is so much easier to apply.

I’ve been wanting to try EOS for ages. It does look like it lasts and having you confirm it has made me want to go on amazon tonight and order myself one. Can’t go wrong with a bit of Elizabeth Arden though xx

  7. Vicki I’m addicted to reading your posts, seriously they cheered me up so much in the past couple of days. :) I recently got EOS lip balm – the first one and I love it – it is sooo addictive – I got the minty shade and flavour. I’ve reviewed No7 BB lips many moons ago and I think there is a swatch of this shade you want so feel free to take a peek. :) My favourtie LUSH lip scrub has to be Popcorn – yum!

I haven’t used my Korres lip butter in ages! I need to dig it back out. I have so many lip balms I forget what I have! xx

  10. Louise Hoad says:

I tend just to use my Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream when my lips are dry but I think I should get a lip scrub, especially when I’m wearing matte lipsticks. The lush popcorn one is definitely on my list as I think it was taste and smell gorg! ;)

For me, nothing works better than carmex. I’ve tried so many other lip balms, cheap and expensive but always go back to it. My lips get very, very dry so I think the carmex, containing salicylic acid, helps to slough off the dead skin.

I LOVE the Elizabeth Arden one, and the lush scrub. I ran out of my lush scrub before Xmas and still haven’t picked another one up. Definitely on my shopping list now! :)

  15. I have a bit of a lip balm addiction so I thoroughly enjoyed this post! My favourite lip balm at the moment is the Nuxe one but an old staple is Maybelline Baby Lips in Relieving Menthol – just love the soothing mintiness!

  16. Daniela says:

I absolutely can’t live without my LUSH Bubblegum Sugar Scrub. It’s so amazing and perfect for this time of year! I’d also really like to try the EOS balms, heard lots about them and they seem to create a lot of hype.

  17. Becky says:

I had one of the Apivita lip balm sticks and have just finished it. I think it’s the first lip balm of any kind that I’ve ever actually completely used up!
