I have been working my way through the very generous goodie bag I received at the Essence Makeup Launch last month. There have been so many gems & a couple of misses too but I thought I would share with you 8 of my top picks. If you didn’t already know Essence is a very affordable German makeup brand that’s very popular not only in Europe but also worldwide and they have launched in all branches of Wilkinsons in the UK & also online. So we are all able to get our hands on them, very exciting.
A lazy girls best friend, quite a few brands are doing these now just a big sponge soaked in nail polish but they’re so handy for quick nail polish removal & this Essence one is budget friendly & works a treat. It is also acetone free
Essence Kabuki Brush £4.00
Black & Pink …. how cute right! This is comparable to my elf Kabuki Brush which I have used almost daily since buying it 2 years ago. This Essence one has been taking its place, I apply my bronzer or face powder with this & its does a very good job. No shedding and the bristles are soft. I have washed it a couple of times and it comes up clean & goes back into shape.
I love this colour & this is the shade I picked at the event (as they had lovely ladies doing nails). Its a stunning vibrant summery blue, this lasted so well on my nails I wore it for a full week with minimal chipping. I now have this colour on my toes and my love for it is only growing. I have to say that if there was one thing Essence does very very well its all things nail related. They have a huge selection of polishes, decals and everything you could want for nail art. I have used a few polishes and I haven’t found a dud yet.
OMG! This is my new favourite top coat, it has replaced my Orly and I can’t see me picking up anything else. This applies very glossy and dries in a couple of minutes to a very hard but ever so shiny finish. I have applied this over every manicure since I came home with it & its helping my manicure stay in place and looking fresh for a week at a time. It really is living up to its name.
This is a good neutral quad, the two darker colours are a lot more pigmented but if you wear a primer and take a little more time over applying the lighter 2 shades you can get them to work. This a great quad for achieving a brown smoky eye. The two light shades have a slight shimmer to them & so to does the more copper toned brown, then you also get a fantastic dark brown matte colour. The lighter colours give a little fallout but nothing that can’t be cleaned up when you have finished, all the colours are easy to apply and to blend. I’ve really been enjoying using this quad & want to try a few more colour options.
This has to be my favourite product from the whole goodie bag. Its a bright pink creamy lipstick. It goes on the lips so smoothly and the colour is vibrant and beautiful. This is long wearing & thats on me (I’m terrible for lippies wearing off so fast & going patchy) but this one is great. The packaging feels more expensive than it is & the lipstick doesn’t have that cheap scent that many budget friendly ones have. Its a big hit with me & I have a few other shades that are also just as good but this pink stood out for me, it pretty & the perfect Summer shade.
This is a cream coloured pencil which is fantastic under the brow bone or in the inner corner of your eye to brighten & highlight that area. This has a lovely creamy texture and a pretty iridescent finish so it catches the light. A staple in your makeup bag, especially if you like your eyes to look fresh & bright.
Essence Eyebrow Tweezers £2.00
Not as exciting as the pink lip stick but never the less still a vital part of my beauty regime. A good pair of tweezers is a must & these look cute and get the job done. Enough said ….. tweezers that work & look cute
If you have tried any products from Essence let me know what you loved & also what not to buy.
I received these Essence products at a recent event. I’m under no obligation to review them on my blog. However if I do, the reviews are 100% my own.

I have to admit when it comes to wearing lip products I tend to stick with a lip balm but I am trying my best to use the few lip glosses & lipsticks I have in my stash a lot more. I have some really lovely ones & its a shame they get over looked so I have done a little reshuffle with my makeup & I’ve been shopping my stash and this selection of pink lip products hasbeen getting a lot more use this past month.
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Cherish – I’ve had this for a couple of years & out of the 5 this is the one I’ve worn the most. Its a very pretty bright bubblegum pink. Its quite vibrant on the lips & feels glossy but not tacky. I love that this is a twist up crayon & its so easy to apply on the go. The colour is quite long wearing and I do like the minty scent of these too. I have a few of these balm stains but this is by far my favourite colour, it just brightens up my face & makes me look awake.
Collection Cream Puff in Cotton Candy- I just spoke about this in my June Favourites post & I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this looked on me & how soft and moisturising it was on my lips. The colour is a deep pink which dries to a velvet matte finish. It smells of candy floss & its my first matte lip product & I love it so much that I want all the the other shades.
Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in First Date* – This is the sweetest soft pink shade and it makes me look really healthy and adds a really nice pop of colour to my lips. I was impressed by the pigmentation and it really translates on to your lips. It looks like there is shimmer when in the tube but that didn’t translate to the lips. Its a shade that makes your complexion look bright and having quite a dull complexion I need all the radiance boosting I can get. Its the perfect pink gloss for summer, the texture is creamy & glossy but not tacky on the lips. Just a lovely simple pink gloss.
Avon Plump Pout – This is one of those minty tingling plumping glosses which is OK but not my favourite, I find it does plump a little but not that anyone else would notice. The colour is really pretty though & on my lips it looks quite peachy pink. Its quite a thick consistency & I like that because if I can still feel it on my lips I know that I don’t need to re apply. I like the packaging, its slim, sleek and takes up no room at all in my makeup bag. The wand applicator is a little brush which makes applying this gloss very easy and mess free and you get the most glossy finish on the lips, very pretty.
Wet n Wild Lip Shimmer – This is one of my all time favourite lip balms as it packs a punch when it comes to colour pay off they are so opaque on the lips. It was such a bargain too at less than $2, the colour is more of a red toned pink and it gives your lips a great pop of colour. It feels moisturising and has a glossy sheen also the colour wears off evenly although its not hugely long lasting. I wish I’d bought more of these when I had the chance. Also these are called lip shimmers but this one has no shimmer at all on the lips.
Let me know what your favourite pink lip gloss / lip crayons are & have you used any of the ones I have mentioned?
Products that are marked with an * have either been sent to me for my consideration or I’ve received at events. I’m under no obligation to review them on my blog. However if I do, the reviews are 100% my own

I seem to always gravitate towards the same nail polishes and many go unloved. So I am trying to pick a new polish each time I paint my nails and this is my current choice.
This Models Own Polish in Raspberry Crush £5 is a lovely Pink with a slightly red feel to it. It looks great on your toes too. These never last long on me and so I like to wear them with a glitter topcoat as you notice less when it chips.
I love BarryM polishes and these two glitters are so pretty but very different. The first peachy pink is called Pink Iridescent. It has small pink and silver flecks, they are so small and very glitzy. It looks very pretty over the top of Models Own Raspberry Crush. The other BarryM Glitter is alot more chunky and that means harder to remove too. This one is called Pink Sapphire and has light pink, dark pink and silver glitter.

I was one of those people who tried everyday to win a Revlon Lip Butter on Facebook & to my surprise one popped through my door. I’ve never tried them before but have swatched them a few times in store. I like their texture and the colour range is so pretty too. Now I have one I want more. That’s always the way, right?
The colour I have is Cupcake 055 – it’s a sweet baby pink. A lovely wearable shade. The colour isn’t super intense. It’s subtle and gives your lips a hint of colour. Perfect for me as I’m quite a wimp when it comes to bold lip colours. I tend to stick to quite plain easy to wear colours, so I’m really looking forward to wearing this Cupcake Revlon Lip Butter.
Now I’m on the hunt for more colours – which would you recommend? Were you lucky enough to win something from the Revlon Sweet Boutique?
