Instagram Roundup Week #5

This week has been a quick one, not alot to report just the usual lack of summer weather. I have been browsing holidays on the internet trying to cheer myself up. Looking for the illusive good deal. We have also started to pack up a few boxes before our big move in a month back down to Manchester. Getting excited now.

Pixi Illuminating Tint and Conceal

The Pixi store just off Carnaby Street in London is a really lovely shop. Their staff are always friendly and eager to help with matching you up to foundations & explaining their products. Many of which have dual purpouse. I just love products that double up. Saves space and money.

I have had a few Pixi products over the years. Their eyeshadows are pigmented and have great staying power. So i wanted to pick up something that would act as a skin illuminator and help make my skin look more glowing and fresh for summer (if it ever turns up.) I was directed to this Pixi Illuminating Tint and Conceal it has a tinted moisturiser as well as a concealer which i thought was fab. I was matched to the shade No1 Light Glow (no tan here.)

The Illuminating tint part of it i have used in two ways. First i have used it as a light almost sheer coverage tinted moisturiser. It doesn’t provide much coverage but is so good for summery warm days when you do not want to wear alot of makeup but it gives your skin a really fresh healthy glow. I have also used it as more of a illuminating base under a foundation for a underlying glow whist getting better coverage with your foundation. So it works well for both uses.

The other part of this product is a concealor. Its a creamy consistency thats quite dry initially but if you warm it up on the back of your hand or with your fingers it applies alot better. I have this in a light shade as i like to use it under my eyes and i like to lighten that area rather than cover up with a dark concealor.  It a good quality concealor and if you powder it it will last all day.

This Pixi Illuminating Tint and Conceal costs £21.50 and you get 28.4g of the tinted moisturiser and 2.6g of concealor.  It contains lots of great ingredients for your skin like Aloe Vera, Vitamin E and Vitamin C and one of the best parts is it contains SPF 20.

The concealor is the round swatch and the illuminating moisturiser is the line swatch.

I will be using this alot if the weather ever sorts its self out and gives us a summer!! What Pixi products have you enjoyed using and would recommend?

I have fallen in love

Oh yes i have. I’ve wanted to write this post for a few weeks but thought i should really give it a good 6 weeks before reviewing the Aesop Parsley Seed Anti Oxidant Serum, it just incase after my initial love for it my skin broke out. I am glad to say this hasn’t happened.

So i was in SpaceNK in Manchester looking for a bronzer, how is it when you go looking for a specific item you always come out with something completely different. It’s safe to say this happened to me. So i was in there looking for a bronzer and saw a couple but nothing that bowled me over. So i was mooching about – a dangerous thing to do in SpaceNK when i spotted tucked around a corner the Aesop products and i remembered from Vivianne Does MakeUp’s YouTube video that this stuff is AMAzing. So i asked the lady what she would recommend for my tired dull looking skin and she said Aesop Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Serum.

I use this at night after i have cleansed and toned I put about 3 drops on my hands rub it in to my palms first then massage in all over my face and under eye area. It’s a thick consistency and smells very fresh and clean. I like how the scent is very subtle. My skin drinks this stuff up in seconds it’s mad. After applying it my face feels a little tacky, i leave it to absorbe for about 10 mins then my face feels beyond soft.

This serum is so nourishing my skin is for sure brighter and my redness has died down too. As i said i like to use it at night as i have more time to let it soak in before applying moisturiser.

The packaging is also so nice. I am a sucker for packaging and typeface. This glass bottle feels like an old apocrathy bottle with its pipett dispenser too. The glass bottle is so luxurious as is the product itself. I feel all grown up and like i am putting something really healthy and beneficial on to my face.

I can’t say enough good things about it. I have used a few serums and this Aesop one has achieved the best results on my skin. You get a very big 100ml bottle  and i only use 3 drops each night so its going to last along time. Which makes me happy as i get anxiety about it running out as it’s £43 a bottle and i will have to repurchase it and live on super noodles for a month :o)

I am a huge fan and will be trying out a few more things from their range. If you can give me any suggestions that would be great.

Just one thing. I know this carries quite a high price tag but i have been using it for 6 weeks and have barley used any. It really is good value for money and i couldn’t imagine my skincare routine without it.

Soap and Glory Sugar Crush

I was all out of body scrub and so asked on people on Twitter for recommendations for a new one, a couple of people said the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush was a good price and worked well. So with Boots skin care being on 3 for 2 I picked up a pot along with a 2 other face creams.

My  first impression of the scrub was: its a big pot and you get a fair amount of product – 300ml for £8.00. I have been using it for 2 weeks – 3 times a week. The scent is very sweet, I do like the way most S&G products smell but this scrub isn’t my favourite smelling product. I think it’s just too sweet. That aside I do like the scrub and think it works well.

It has the right amount of exfoliating beads in for me and the consistency is nourishing and not too abrasive. I use it all ove my body (not face, of course) 3 times a week and have found it leaves my skin really smooth an clears all my dead skin away. I am getting summer body ready – even if the summer seems to have all but disappeared.

Not too much to say on this other than I would recommend this product, it works for me and my skin is softer after using it. This scrub is really good quality and a great price point. What more could you ask for?!
