Balance Me Lip Salve

As like most beauty junkies this month I went mad for the sample freebies in the magazines – one of them being the Balance Me rose otto intensive lip salve. This sample came free with Glamour Magazine and is actually a full size product work £12. So for a £2 magazine I bagged a £12 lip balm — love it.

This is a super hydrating lip salve, I suffer from really dry and flakey lips. It can look a bit unsightly esp with a lipstick on. But found this lip salve really hydrating on my lips and left them feeling moisturised for hours. Which is so unusual for me as I normally have to apply lip balms so often throughout the day but I felt like this Balance Me one lasted a good amount of time.

I’ve heard a few people say they are not too keen on the rose scent, that it’s a little overpowering. I’m not overly offended by it. I by no means love it but I can get on with it as the product is working little miracles on my lips.

Balance Me have also packed this lip salve full of vitamins and oils so that’s good news for your lips. Balance Me have also only used products that are 100% natural and it contains no parabens, petroleum or sulphates so your lips are really being looked after.

The product is non greasy and applies really nicely to your lips and is easily absorbed. All in all im very happy with it and it’s always great to try a product I wouldn’t have normally purchased. I now want to visit my local John Lewis to have a look at their range and see what else i can try. I would purchase this in the future and think that £12 for a product that does a great job is worth the pennies.

Have you tried anything from the Balance Me range – would you recommend anything? Let me know

Hemp Rose Soap

I’m staying with family in North West England whilst we look for a house / flat and I found the hand soap I was using was irritating my hands. Quite badly too. They were going really red and the skin was flakey so I had a rummage around my sample box and discovered this liquid soap by Dr Bronners. I had received it in a Glossybox one month and hadn’t had used it yet. Its the Dr. Bronner’s 18 in 1 Hemp Rose Pure Castile Soap.

I’d seen this brand in American Apparel and didn’t think too much of it although i like their old school style labels and they seem to be very ethical products. The ingredients are all organic and Fair Trade with no hidden nasties so I though it might do the trick with the allergic reaction I was having. Even after using this for a day the redness on my hands had calmed right down and after 5 days it had cleared up totally. My skin was no longer flakey or sore. This little sample bottle had saved the day. No one wants to walk around with hands that look horrid.

This soap smells of rose and other essential oils is really lovely and understated. It is quite a runny consistency but you need very little, it doesn’t lather up too much but it feels like it gives your hands a deep clean and I have to say it leaves them feel very soft too. I normally have to use a hand lotion right after washing my hands & that’s even using Molton Brown but with the Dr Bronner’s soap my hands felt quite soft and I wasn’t in such a hurry to put lotion on.

So if you still have your sample of this soap knocking about unloved i suggest you give it a go. I am not going to use anything else from now on. I am a complete convert and im getting to check out what else they have in the range.

The sample is 59ml and you can purchase the full size here for 237ml £5.59 delivered. That’s a bargain I will be purchasing the full size.

Mac Nylon Eyeshadow

I have a modest collection of Mac eyeshadows, but I’m trying to purchase the ones I will get the most wear out of to begin with. I have Woodwinked, Bisque, Naked Lunch and Satin Taupe. So my next purchase was Nylon is a lovely frosted champagne shade, i don’t really have anything else like this in my collection so it fits in well.

Like most people i use this as a highlighter shade in my tear duct area and also under my brows. It’s quite a creamy textured eyeshadow and applies easily and blends like a dream. The colour is pigmented and can be built up to a really lovely bold colour – if you want a more dramatic highlight for evening. It makes your eyes look bright and awake (we could all use a little bit of that, right?!). I’ve not worn it as an all ove the lid eyeshadow yet. But when i do i will add an edit to this post.

Using this as a highlighter should mean it lasts for quite a while as you really don’t use much product doing that. I’m impressed with the colour and the frost finish makes it perfect for highlighting and it doesn’t have large flecks of glitter shimmer, it’s subtle shimmer and the shadow is very fine. So its not too OTT. You don’t want to go out during the day looking like a disco ball.

I think this Nylon eyeshadow is another great addition to my collection. What Mac eyeshadow should i pick up next time. I have my eye on All That Glitters. But i need to add some great vibrant colours into my Mac collection too. Nylon cost £12 for 1.5g
