I was over the moon excited to be sent these gorgeous ghd’s from their Style Candy Collection* which was inspired by a retro sweet shop! I’m a faithful fan of ghd hair tools and have had my black ghd’s for over 6 years and have really enjoyed using them. They however are nothing compared to these cute colourful new swish professional stylers. Goodbye old black straighteners — HELLO new ghd IV violet candy collection straighteners.
ghd candy collection is available in three shades violet / lemon / mint & retail for £110*
Of course I decided to try them out on possibly THE hottest day of the year. My hair was massive and unruly, perfect to really put them to the test. My hair is very much naturally wavy and often has a curl to it so I wanted to create a sleek and polished look. I tend to leave my hair to dry naturally and leave the natural wave. OK cue the before photo – no makeup / pj’s and unstyled hair (I look like I need to sleep for a week).
These are the styling products I used. VO5 Miracle Concentrate – I love this and use it everytime I wash my hair. TRESemme Smooth Salon Sleek Straightening Spray with Argan Oil and the TRESemme Smooth Ultra Light Finishing Cream from the same line – I love both of these products and highly recommend them.
The ghd violet professional styler feels so light compared to my old black straighteners, so much sleeker and they have a rounded barrel that would be fab for creating a curl. I found that they glided down my hair with ease. I straighten my hair in small sections as its so thick it just gets an instant wave back if I do too much at a time. These were so easy to use and the curve edge was perfect to styling my fringe. They also heated up to their temperature very fast.
I was impressed by how straight they made my hair and how fast I managed to do it esp as my hair was so frizzy with the heat. The fact that these are violet makes them even more fab to use!
These are the after shots, I’m very impressed with my lovely violet ghd’s. I think they did a great job even if I did almost overheat in the process. Although I opted for a straight look you can achieve more adventurous styles with these and I’ve seen some bloggers do lovely curls and beach styles. I think I will try something a little more daring next time. When the weather is cooler.
What a cute colour and a great product they get two thumbs up from me. If you’ve used these and have created a fun style let me know I would love to see it and get some inspiration.
Oh and as it takes me so long to straighten my hair I always drink tea and watch YouTube whilst I am doing it!
*these stunning violet ghd’s were sent to me to review and I’m still doing a happy dance about that! The review is 100% my own.
