This Weeks Happy #11

Jurlique Intense Rosewater Mist

An unexpected parcel arrived last week from Jurlique, which is one of my favourite skincare brands. They’re celebrating 30 years and have released a special limited edition version of their Rosewater Balancing Mist* which is one of my favourite products from them & easy to see why its an international bestseller.

This limited edition version contains added Rose extracts and potent botanicals to hydrate your skin and enliven your senses. Its deluxe formula contains precious Rose extracts to help condition, soothe and balance your skin. This bottle is not only utterly beautiful but also huge at 200ml and the packaging is gorgeous. Its so refreshing and soothing & has been a god send these past few weeks. It sits on my desk and I reach for it when I’m feeling a little hot and need a pick me up. So this lovely parcel has been making me very very happy.

With every purchase a 5% donation goes to the Jurlique ‘Ideas of Beauty Fund’ to support charities that help people and nature bloom. Money raised by the fund is used to improve quality of life and make the world a beautiful place to live.

Favourite drinks jar

My Home Bargain 79p glass drinks jar has been helping me stay hydrated in this crazy heat. I like to drink fizzy water, I add lemon and lots of ice. I hate to drink water unless its ice cold. These jars are so cute, I wish I’d bought all the colours as my local shop has sold out now.

Foundation Coffee

Discovering a new & very Pinterest appropriate cafe in Manchester – The Foundation Coffee House (on Lever Street) opened at the end of May & its unlike anywhere I have ever been. Its vast & I mean huge, the space is just above street level and feels light and clean. You don’t feel crammed in and the coffee is incredible but also so is their selection of soft drinks and food.

It feels like its not been discovered by the masses quite yet and part of me hopes it stays that way but either way is a lovely relaxing place to stop and enjoy a drink and I even worked from here for a couple of hours and it was so quiet and the staff are very friendly. Oh and there are lots of photos of the actual cafe space on the internet so I thought I would share a photo of their very nice bathroom – can you spot the Aesop hand wash (extra brownie points to them for having that).

Amsterdam Planning

I’m excited to say we’re heading back to Amsterdam next week for our 5th visit. Its my husbands birthday and its our favourite European City so we thought what the heck lets pop back and enjoy a week there. I have been reading travel blogs & stalking Instagram accounts planning where to go.

Generally we have done all the major touristy things so we just love to walk up and down the side streets discovering hidden gems & there is such an abundance of cute shops & cafes in Amsterdam so you’re spoilt for choice. As I said I have been a few times but if you have any suggestions on places to eat then i’d love to hear them. If you want to see my Amsterdam Photo Diary from last year click that link!

Mavala Jelly Effect Collection

Mavala Jelly Effects Collection

This Jelly Effect Collection* is the latest release from the Swiss nail brand Mavala, it has 6 gorgeous bright shades that give your nails a gorgeous wash of colour. I have 5 of the 6 shades.

One of the things I really like about Mavala polishes is that they come in the sweetest little 5ml bottles, the brush is quite long and fairly thick and I found the polishes easy to apply. If you like your nail polish to be bold then these won’t be for you. The Jelly Effect collection give your nails a wash of colour & even after 2 coats they are still quite sheer – as the name suggests, just like Jelly pretty shades but sheer in colour.

Mavala Nail Polish Jelly Effect

I think its great trend for pretty subtle Summer nails, I know YSL & OPI have previously released their own version of sheer nail colours & this year Mavala have joined the trend. I like the colours in this collection, they’re all quite fresh and fruity. I’m a sucker for pinks and purples, I think they are colours that are easy to wear and they look pretty on both fingers and toes. In the collection they have,

Jelly Grape – A vibrant purple grape

Candy Apple – A sheer red with pink undertones

Smily Orange – A sheer tangerine

Happy Cherry – A vibrant pink with purple undertones

Sugar Berry – A sheer red with orange undertones (not really a berry shade)

Jammy Plum – Is the shade I don’t have but it looks like the darkest shade in the range & is a deep plum

Mavala Nail Polish 2015

I think my favourite shades are Candy Apple & Smily Orange, they look so cute on the nails and just add a bit of Summer to my look. These polishes dry to the touch within minutes and last 5 – 7 days on my nails (using the Essence Better Than Gel Topcoat). They do have a wet look finish but I like my polish to have that really glossy look so I always use a glossy topcoat.

Is this translucent nail trend one you’re on board with?

Mavala Polishes are available from John Lewis or larger Boots stores £4.75 for 5ml

Mavala Nail Polish are free from parabens, formaldehydes, camphor, cellophane, animal ingredients and heavy metal. So all non toxic.

DKNY Delicious Delights Cool Swirl

DKNY Delicious Delights 2015

DKNY Delicious DelightsDKNY Delicious Delights 2015

Spring saw the release of the DKNY Delicious Delights – A limited edition collection of fragrances inspired by Sweet Sorbet Treats. These Sorbet Perfumes come in the iconic Be Delicious apple packaging, which is something we all recognise and associate with DKNY. The bottles are gorgeous, and I like that they’re frosted glass and pastel coloured, perfect for Spring / Summer, mine looks so cute on my vanity.

The scents themselves are quite sweet and fresh, but each one is so different. I was drawn to Cool Swirl* (green) because although it’s quite sweet it still has a musky layer to it and that’s my kind of scent.

Cool Swirl (green) – is a refreshing tropical scent with top notes of black cranberry (or European blueberry), violet leaf and coconut water. Flowers of magnolia and jasmine are wrapped in creamy pistachio sorbet and laid on the base of heliotrope, musk and patchouli.

Dreamsicle (orange) – is a fresh fruity blend of mandarin, raspberry and blueberry at the top. Tempting and delicious aromas of green apple, peach nectar and apricot sorbet form the heart. Its creamy base consists of cedar, sandalwood and vanilla.

Fruity Rooty (lilac) – is a sweet fruity scent that opens with a combination of blackberry, blueberry and mandarin. The heart of rose, violet and candied apple sorbet is followed by the base that combines elegant lily with vanilla.

DKNY Summer Scent

I have been using Cool Swirl for a good few months now, reaching for it when the weather is warm outside. It is my Summer scent for sure, when I first spray it I can really smell the fruity notes but as it settles down the patchouli and musk come through, and it smells so good. It’s the perfect fun, refreshing summer scent, I think its more of a daytime scent just because it’s quite light and fresh. Cool Swirl does last quite a long time on me which is good news because the packaging is a little bulky to be carrying around in your handbag.

DKNY Be Delicious Perfume

If you’re looking for an affordable but fun fragrance for the warmer months then you should check out the Delicious Delights collection from DKNY, let me know which one of the three you like the sound of. Also, what is your go-to Summer scent?

Radical Hand and Nail Multi – Repair Créme

radicalskincarehandcream

Radical Hand and Nail Cream

Radical Skincare is an anti ageing skincare line started by Liz and Rachel, the daughter of Dr. Richard F. Edlich MD.PHD, world renowned Professor of Plastic Surgery. They dedicated years of research to formulating advanced skincare products that protect and rejuvenate skin.

The key to the Radical Skincare line is their Patented Trylacel Technology which maintains the potency of active ingredients by up to 300% by combining Multiple Antioxidants, Anti Ageing Active Ingredients and soothing Ingredients which enable maximum benefits and quick results.

I tried some samples from their range a couple of years ago & was very impressed with them so was excited to give their new Hand and Nail Cream a try.

Radical Skincare

Radical Hand and Nail Multi – Repair Créme* 75ml

This cream has so many high-performance active ingredients, much like all Radical products, so I will list some of the wonderful ingredients

‘Hyaluronic Acid: Recreates the hydrolipid film of the skin, which boosts its barrier function protecting optimum hydration levels on the palm and back of hand.

The nutritional and antioxidant powers of the Radical TrylacelTM technology re-stimulate the synthesis of essential collagen and elastin fibres to improve skin firmness and elasticity and protect against free-radicals.

Hexylresorcinol visibly reduces the appearance of dark spots. Combined with raspberry extract, rich in ellagic acid, this ingredient is known to regulate melanin synthesis and therefore help to prevent dark spots forming.

Myrrh extract supports the strength of the nails and condition cuticles, it was used by typists in the days of the first Remington typewriters to strengthen their nails. Natural Myrrh also calms micro wounds and irritations.

Rice extract absorbs excess secretions by the hands.’

So this cream is a powerhouse of anti ageing as well as giving your hands an all in one treatment. The cream is quite thick when you first apply it to your hands but its so easy to massage into the skin. It sinks into the skin within minutes leaving them feeling very soft, noticeably smoother and brighter and not at all greasy. You don’t have to wait ages for it to sink in and I found I didn’t have to reapply too much throughout the day, my hands stayed feeling nourished and soft for hours. I only tended to reapply after I washed my hands so you don’t have to use a lot of product throughout the day which is great!

New Release from Radical

I don’t think you can ever take a good hand cream for granted, our hands are really put through the ringer on a daily basis and as I am edging ever closer to 40 (3 years to go) I am really trying to look after my hands and keep the age spots and inevitable wrinkles to a minimum. I have really noticed a difference in how soft and healthy my hands look, I have been using this cream for over 2 months now & it has even helped reduce an age spot I had on the back of my right hand so that’s really pleased me.

The more I use this the more it’s protecting my hands and giving them the nourishment and hydration they need. I suffer from really dry skin on my hands all year round but this hand cream has been the best to date for combating my lizard skin.

This is a high-end skin care product but in this case, you get what you pay for, you don’t need to use a lot of product so there is no wastage. If you’re 35+ then I would highly recommend investing in this. I always have it with me, either on my desk or in my handbag and the results are visible so I’m completely smitten.
