So for her third (and best yet) beauty box, The British Beauty Blogger teamed up with Latest in Beauty to give us The Dream Box. I was so determined to get my hands on this box, as the 2 previous boxes sold so quickly that I missed out and was very disappointed. The Dream Box is packed to the gills (no space for tissue paper) full of beauty must haves & Jane’s personal favourite products. I think that’s what I like about these boxes, is that they’re tired & tested products & products Jayne can’t live without.

So I managed to bag myself a box and I’m excited because although I have tried a few of the brands before I have not tried any of these specific products and for a beauty addict that’s exactly what you want from a Beauty Box, to discover new products & brands. Effortless Eyesdadow : Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks

I seem to be attracted to make up that comes in the form of a crayon & these Laura Mercier Caviar Eyeshadow Sticks called my name. This set of 4 mini ones were a Christmas release in Space.NK, and I’m so glad I treated myself to them, as I’ve used them so much. They are perfect for those of us that like to get ready quickly but still look put together.

What I like most about these is their effortless application, one swipe across your lids and a little blend with your finger & you’re ready to go. They apply a perfect, even amount of colour. If you wanted to spend a little more time, you can put down a little more colour or combine a couple of the shades and blend out the edges with a brush. These are all very pigmented and the shades I have are very pretty & wearable. They all have a slight metallic finish to them, but nothing too glitzy. These twist up so no need to sharpen, and they’re handy for travel. Cream shadows are my go-to eye look when I’m in a time crunch.

If you have oily lids or if eyeshadow usually creases on you then these will be your new best friend as they glide across your lids without tugging, their creamy consistency means they’re easy to blend then they dry and don’t budge. When I initially swatched these in the store they were on my hand until the next morning despite washing my hands several times. They stay all day without transferring, creasing or fading, that’s got to be all anyone wants from their eyeshadow, right? You can also use these as a base/primer and apply your regular powder shadows over the top for a more dramatic look, but I mostly wear these by themselves as the colours are pigmented.

Rosegold is a stunning peachy copper colour and looks perfect worn all over the lid, it is a gorgeous shade. The colour pay off is opaque in one swipe.

Amethyst is a deep taupe with a touch of shimmer. This is my most used shade out of the four. It’s great for day or night and just gives your lids a lovely wash of colour. It has a metallic finish & is also pretty paired with Pink Opal

Pink Opal is a frosty pink and looks lovely. I found this shade was a little harder than the others to blend, but it still looks nice on & is a great inner corner highlight. It is the least pigmented but is subtle and gives your eyes a touch of brightness.

Sugar Frost is a golden champagne shade with lots of glitz, this is the shade I wear the least, but I think this would be a pretty colour for a night out. If you apply this in too much of a rush it can look a little patchy, but if you spend a moment to blend it before it dries you get an even distribution of colour.

I think Amethyst and Rose gold are my two favourite shades, and I think they wear the best and apply effortlessly on my lids. If you have time to apply a primer under these, they will sit a little better on your eyelids. Being a little older, my eyelids have some wrinkles, so I do always apply a primer. It makes my shadows sit better & wear longer.

Tanya Burr Cosmetics – Kiss Me On The Lips

I always shy away from lip glosses, I’m not sure if its my age & I feel a little too old to wear them or if the ones I used to wear were so sticky that the texture annoyed me enough to stop me wearing them. But how could I pass up the opportunity to try out two of lovely Tanya Burr’s glosses. There are currently 12 glosses in the range, a mixture of 5 shimmers and 7 Cream. You can pick from a really nice range of colours from baby pink through to a vibrant red. I’ve seen some mixed reviews and like most people & fellow bloggers I do like to make my own mind up & so It was time to give gloss a 2nd chance.

I have been testing out two colours the first is Champagne Toast* which is a lovely Apricot Peach with a hint of shimmer. This is a really pretty sheer gloss, so if you’re like me and don’t always like to wear a bold lip, this gives your lips just a touch of colour but nothing OTT. I have worn it a few times over the top of a nude lipstick and that looked really nice too. On its own this is a sheer pretty gloss but don’t expect too much pigment as this shade is quite subtle. I do think its a pretty summery lip colour as it has a slightly orange hue to it & what says summer more like a touch of shimmer. If I was going to a festival (sadly I’m not) I would wear this gloss as you don’t have to worry about it bleeding, its easy to apply, the colour will go with everything & you’ll look fresh and effortless.

First Date* is my favourite of the two shades and that surprised me as I’m not a baby pink kind of girl and never reach for those colours. This is the sweetest shade and it make me look really healthy and added a really nice pop of colour to my lips. I was impressed by the pigmentation of this, and it really translates on to your lips. It looks like there is shimmer when in the tube but that didn’t translate to the lips. Its a shade that makes your complexion look bright and having quite a dull complexion I need all the radiance boosting I can get.

Both of these glosses wore quite well on me and although they’re quite thick in texture they’re in no way sticky or uncomfortable on my lips which was great. The packaging is nice, I can see that they are more targeted at a younger market with Tanya’s photo & signature on the packaging & tube. That aside the packaging is quite nice and simple, you’re able to see the product in the tube and it feels well made. The applicator is quite stiff with a little flexibility and I found this made applying the gloss easy and precise, it picked up just enough product as not to overload the lips & you can build up the gloss if you like. I have to say these smell incredible & sweet and you can smell the scent the whole time its on your lips. Fruity goodness!!

These glosses have a high shine finish and keep your lips feeling moisturised and not greasy, it has a slight tacky finish but that just makes me know my gloss is still on & in place. I know that when the tackiness has faded I need to reapply, its not uncomfortable and I think they wear really well over lipstick too. I need to experiment with a few more lipstick combinations & try to be slightly more adventurous.

I have to say I’m now a lipgloss wearer and fear I’ve been missing out for all these years by dismissing them, I have some catching up to do. So Thank you Tanya for rekindling my love for glossy lips, this could be the start of an expensive addiction (buys ALL the lipglosses).

I’m excited to see what Tanya releases next in to her collection, if the quality of these glosses is anything to go by she is set to do very well & I wish her all the very best.
