May Favourites

It has been a good few months since I last did my last Favourites Post. I always seem to forget to show love to the products I reach for regularly. I don’t have the largest makeup collection but I try to rotate what I use and have found a few products I have been really enjoying this month.

May Favourites 2013

I bought The Body Shop Coconut Body Mist £7.50 for 100ml whilst I was in Amsterdam last year. I sprayed it in store (for a cheeky freshen up). I ended up loving it and was so impressed at how long the scent lasted with it only being a ody Spray. I’m a huge fan of Coconut scented products and this Coconut Body Spray is lovely I highly recommend it. I want to try a few more from their range like the Vanilla and the Shea one too! They have a great range of these.

Pixi Glow Tonic Toner £16 for 250ml has gone mental these past few weeks. I bought it after reading Caroline Hirons review on her blog and have to say I am 100% on the band wagon with this. I love it. I managed to get a bottle from the Carnaby Street Store in April and have used it almost everyday since. It is great at getting rid of dull skin and making your skin look and feel vibrant. I’m going to be a life long fan of this I can tell. You can see what else I bought in Pixi here.

& Other Stories Fig Fiction Body Lotion £7 – I use Body Lotion everyday as I get such dry skin on both my arms and legs. I go through tubs of the stuff but I do like to have one on the go with a nice scent for a more luxurious feel and this Fig one is amazing. The lotion is so creamy and hydrating and the scent is my new favourite. Since buying this I have fallen in love with all things Fig and I have bought a Fig Candle from TK Maxx and it smells just like my lotion. I noticed that & Other Stories have a whole Fig range and this includes a Fig Body Mist – I need this!!

May Favourite Products

No7 Smoky Rose Eyeshadow Quad – this was free with the purchase of a No7 Mascara last year and I just love it. It is my go to when I travel as all the colours are wearable alone or to create a cute smoky eye & the lightest shade makes a good highlight colour.

MUA Bronzer Shade 3– £1 for 5.7g. This is the bargain of the century. This shade is quite subtle but you can build it up. I am trying to get into bronzing a little more & experimenting with contouring and all that jazz. I’m not the best at it and often I go a little OTT but its all trial and error I guess. But I do rate this bronzer and highly recommend it.

& Other Stories Linen Beige Naquet Eyeshadow £7 for 2.8g – I have been wearing this all over the lid on days I don’t want to wear too much makeup. It’s a really brightening colour and has a shimmer metallic finish to it too. Perfect nude taupe colour.

EOS Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet £5.95 – These lipbalms smell so good and are quite fun. I love their sphere packaging this makes them easy to apply. I also have the Summer Fruit one too. I love them both and are hand to have in your bag.

May Favourites

Accessorize Baked Blush in Scandal – £5 for 8g – My particular blush is no longer for sale but they do have a similar one. You get a lot of product for £5 and it is the perfect pink blush colour for summer and with the gold veining it gives you a slight shimmer but nothing too glitzy. It is a soft rosy pink and I have fallen back in love with it. How cute is the packaging on this? It ticks all the boxes for me.

Garnier BB Cream Combination to Oily Skin shade Medium £9.99 for 40ml. This is perfect for me when I have a slight tan as I got the shade medium which is quite dark. I love the finish this gives, it makes your skin look healthy and glowing but not greasy like other BB creams. It also lasts a good 6 – 7 hours on me which is something as I get so Oily through my T Zone that nothing ever lasts as long as they claim. I do powder my T Zone and the helps. This is just so easy to put on when you want a nice even light coverage.

So they’re my May Favourites. I would love to know if you have been using any of these products or if you have written a May Favourites post.

May 2013 Empties

I love doing these posts. Nothing more satisfying than finishing off half empty products. Mine seems to be mostly shower products – that must mean I smell amazing and am very clean!

May Empties 2013

Nivea Water Lily & Oil Shower Gel £2.49 – This is a repurchase for me and it is the only shower gel I’ve repurchased. I love the scent and it is very hydrating and I find it good for shaving my legs (too much information?). So it’s safe to say I like this and I do have 2 more bottles in my backup stash

Sanex Vitamin E Deoderant £1.69 – this brand is the only one that doesn’t irritate my underarms. It works well and I always repurchase it. I get mine from the poundshop

Sanctuary Body Scrub £5.50 for 200ml – This wasn’t the best scrub. It was a nice body wash but I wouldn’t class it as a scrub. There wasn’t enough scrub in it for me. I wouldn’t repurchase it.

Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover £3.49 for 125ml – I found this too greasy. I didn’t like the feel of it on my eye. So won’t repurchase, I like my Garnier one more.

May Empties 2

LUSH Tea Tree Water Toner £3.95 for 100ml – This is another repurchase for me, I’ve had this 100ml size before and also the larger 250ml but I prefer the smaller one as I like to take facial toners with me when traveling and also some times in my handbag. This one is good when you’ve a breakout and its also nice to spritz to refresh your skin. I will repurchase this once I come back from holiday as I have a Caudalie one to take on the plane with me.

SpaceNK Laughter Perfume £20 for 15ml – I just adore this perfume and have been wearing it for many years. Every time I wear it I get compliments as it is such a lovely scent which lasts on the skin all day long. I tend to buy the smaller 15ml bottle as I put this in my handbag and use it throughout the day. It is such a refreshing uplifting scent. It is a firm favourite of mine. This is the only perfume I’m taking with me when I travel to San Fransisco as it is the perfect summer fragrance.

Kleenex Shine Absorbing Sheets £2.99 for 50 sheets – Another repurchase for me and I’ve a pack of these in my handbag, car and on my desk. Having an Oily T Zone these come in so handy and even more so in the summer. This is something else I’m taking on holiday with me. I wouldn’t be without them. I have written a post on them here if you’d like to read it.

The Body Shop Big and Curvy Mascara £10 – this was free with a magazine. I disliked this mascara so much it was a watery formula and so much product sticks to your lashes that they look clumpy even the brush is a bad design. Half the plastic bristles were too short and didn’t grip my lashes. It is safe to say this won’t be getting purchased!

LP Skin Therapy Uplifting Facial Water* £15 for 120ml – I loved this face spray I used it in the morning to wake my skin up. It was very hydrating and I found it quite calming on the skin. I would purchase this and think I’m becoming quite the face toner junkie!

May Empties

Superdrug Vitamin E Exfoliating Body Scrub £2.99 for 150ml – by far my favourite budget buy body scrub. I love this stuff it is an amazing scrub – if you like quite harsh scrubs then this is for you. I use this mostly on my thighs as I get dry skin there and also I like to exfoliate and massage them at the same time – tackling that cellulite. I recommend this scrub to everyone it is a bargain I urge you to try it.

Champneys Body Skin Comforting Body Butter £10 for 300ml – this was a Christmas Gift and I had never used anything by this brand before but I really liked this body butter. It smelt creamy and like freshly washed bedding (does that make sense?). I used this after shaving my legs as it absorbs quickly and left my legs so soft.

May Empties

Origins Starting Over Age Erasing Moisturiser £38 – for 50ml – this was a nice light moisturiser and it didn’t leave my skin greasy. I can’t say it was age earsing but I did like it. I’m currently using the Origins Make a Difference Moisturiser and I like that more.

Champneys Skin Comforting Cream Shower Cream £8 for  200ml- this like the body cream was really nice and hydrating it was a lovely set and I would purchase another one.

B. Pure Micellar Water 4.99 for 150ml – This was really good at removing the bulk of my makeup before I cleanse. I have written a blog post on it here. But I would repurchase this.

* This was sent to me for my recommendation & all reviews are 100% honest.

The WIMH Complexion Perfection Kit

When I received an email from What’s In My Handbag last week saying they had a box going on sale for £10 and the contents were worth well over this, I knew I just had to have it. The box was the Complexion Perfection Kit and all the products in the box are sample sized skin care and they’re all products that I’ve never tried before. So I’m excited to try everything.

Skincare Samples

It came very well packaged and with a personalised label – cute touch. So what’s in the box?!

Complextion Perfection Skincare Box

Elemental Herbology Facial Glow Radiance Peel Masque – 30ml – this smells really botanical and luxurious. In my previous post about my sample stash I said I had a moisturiser from this brand to use up so I am excited to use them in conjunction with each other. I like face masks and I go for hydrating ones normally so to get one that’s aimed at getting glowing skin is exciting. This is a mask that you only need to leave on for 4 minutes, that’s great for when you don’t have a lot of time. The full size of this is £39 for 50ml

Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant + You get two 2.5ml bottle of this oil in this kit. They say this is oil ‘works to improve skin tone, brightness and elasticity’  The bottles are a really handy size to travel with and have a pipette which I love. I put some on the back of my hand it felt soft and smooth, the oil absorbed quickly into the skin. I am a big fan of facial oils and love my Clarins Lotus Oil so I am excited to see if this helps brighten my completion.  The full-sized bottle is £26.50 for 30ml

What's In My Handbag

Alpha-H Absolute Eye Complex – 7.5ml. I think eye cream is the one product that I am still trying to find my holy grail of. I have tried so many. I need something to combat darkness and also I have quite a dehydrated under eye area so there is that too. This Aplha -H one claims to be a  ‘fantastic eye treatment to combat dark circles, shadows, puffiness and hyperpigmentation under the eyes’ I think this 7.5ml tube is a good size to really see what it can do. I should think it will last me at least a month. Watch this space, I’m expecting great things from this brand! The full size is £34.50 for 15ml.

OSKIA Skincare

OSKIA: Day Cream, Get Up and Glow Booster & Eye Wonder – these 3 sachets each have 3ml of product in them and I am going to take them on the plane with me next week to really test them out. I have never heard of this brand before so I popped onto their website and they seem to be quite a high-end brand and offer a great selection of skin care. They have also won awards for Natural and Organic ingredients which is always nice in skin care. I will have to have more of a read around this brand to see if their products are worth the price tag.

KORRES: Wild Rose 24 Hour Moisturising & Brightening Cream SPF6 and Wild Rose Brightening & line Smoothing Serum. These are sachets again and the cream has 1.5ml and the serum 2ml so not a whole lot of product. I have tried KORRES lipbalms and shower gels but never skin care. I have a few samples from a KORRES set I bought from What’s In My Handbag last year to try and I am more exited to try the serum out of these two samples. The Brightening Cream full size is £19 for 40ml & the Serum is £30 for 30ml.

All in all I think for £10 I am getting to try alot of different brands and all are items that I have never tried so for a skin care junkie \ addict that is very exciting. Did you manage to buy this box or have you ordered anything from What’s in My Handbag? I’d love to know.

If you haven’t visited What’s In My Handbag – they often have great deals and offers on so pop over and check them out. I can highly recommend them

American Wishlist

OK so I’m sure most, if not all of you are aware that I’m going to San Fransisco next week. I am so very excited. I have been there before 7 years ago and I’m excited to go back. It is such a beautiful city and the shopping is amazing. So in honour of that I’ve put together a few things I hope to buy whilst I’m out there.

USA Wishlist

1. Sephora CC Cream 30ml $26 – I’m yet to try a CC cream so I thought whilst I was In America I would get this Sephora one. I have quite a lot of redness in my cheeks so I’m hoping this helps cancel that out.

2. Sephora Moonshadow Baked Palette – In The Nude $26 for 10 shadows – This baked palette is right up my street. I love the texture and finish of baked shadows and these are all quite neutral colours and they are what I tend to reach for most often. This palette gets quite good reviews and I am excited to swatch it.

3. Makeup Forever Mist & Fix Spray 125ml for $29 – I am running low on my Mac Fix + and I wan to try something new. I’m undecided whether to get this Makeup Forever Spray or the Urban Decay De Slick Setting Spray.

4. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush $26 – I have my eye on a couple of colours, Tipsy, Blushing Bride and Dollface. So we will see which ones I buy once I’m there. I have heard great things about these so I am very excited to finally try them out.

5. Marc Jacobs Rollerball Trio $38 – OK so I may be a little too excited to get a few rollerballs whilst I am in Sephora. I have no idea why these don’t get released in the UK & I hope this changes in the future. But I will be stocking up on a fair few. Along with this Daisy set I also want to try the Fresh Beauty Set.

6. Tarte Tinted BB Treatment $34 – This is meant to be a moisturiser, primer, light foundation, antiageing treatment, and sunscreen all in one so that’s some big claims. I will put it to the test!

7. Maybelline Baby Lips $2.99 – I have 2 of these already and love them so will buy a few more but the picture of these in my wish list really represents the fact that I want to go to some American Pharmacies or Drugstores to buy a few things. Especially a few Wet n Wild things and some of the Drew Barrymore line Flower Cosmetics. I am so excited to go to Target & Wallgreens.

If you have any must have US beauty buy suggestions for me – please let me know!
