New Lancome Matte Shaker

Lancome Matte Shaker

Lancome Matte Shaker*

I wasn’t bowled over by the original Lancome Shaker’s simply because I just didn’t find myself reaching for them. I wasn’t excited to wear them and the colours I had were quite sheer. Now fast forward to the new Matte offering and it is a whole different ball game. These are pigmented, bold and OMG they have serious staying power.

So the idea is you shake these like a cocktail shaker so the cushion applicator soaks up the product – the more you shake the more product ends up on the sponge (so bare that in mind). So once you have shaken to your hearts content you then apply the liquid lipstick using the cute, handy cushion applicator (nub) which is pretty effortless to use. It gives you precision application and the formula is easy to work with, it dries down to feel lightweight, comfortable and gives the lips that on trend matte finish.

Lancome Matte Shaker Lip-Colour

Lancome describe the formula as ‘feeling like a second skin’ and I agree with them. Being someone that tends to shy away from matte finishes because they’re more often than not uncomfortable and dry on the lips but these Matte Shakers have changed my opinion & I have been enjoying wearing them.

‘A water-in-oil emulsion that’s formulated with a patented Ultra Thin Film technology to deliver weightless texture and a second-skin feel without sacrificing intense color payoff. And it has Vitamin E for comfortable, non-drying wear.’

The Matte Shaker comes in 7 beautiful shades

Magic Orange – vibrant orange
Beige Vintage – nude beige
Energy Peach – nude peach
Red’y in 5 – warm red
Kiss Me Cherie – brick red
Pink Power – magenta
Yummy Pink – bright pink

Lancome Matte Shaker Swatches

Kiss Me Chérie / Yummy Pink

The two shades I have are beautiful, bold and pigmented and you’re able to build up the colour to be super intense. Once you apply these there is no shifting them and they have incredible staying power. Even after eating and drinking the colour is still there and not patchy. I’m beyond impressed and I am going to get one of the more everyday shades, I have my eye on the Beige Vintage Shade.

The Matte Shaker’s are available now nationwide and at www.lancome.co.uk for £19.50

Rimmel Super Gel Beach Ready Collection

Rimmel Super Gel Polishes

Rimmel Super Gel Nail Polishes

Rimmel Super Gel Beach Ready Collection*

One thing I love about the warmer weather is wearing open toe shoes / sandals and having my toes painted a cute, fun Summery shade. Well it looks like Rimmel have me covered in that department. Their latest release are 5 vibrant Summer appropriate nail polishes quite aptly named the Beach Ready Collection.

Rimmel have had quite a few new product releases this year and for me many of them just haven’t lived up to the hype, but I have been seriously enjoying these new Super Gel nail polishes. I do enjoy having my nails professionally done but like most people this just isn’t always possible, and it can get very expensive, so I’m always excited to try gel effect polishes especially when you don’t need to use a UV lamp to achieve that ultra glossy, long wearing manicure. The new Super Gel polishes promise up to 14 day wear, chip resistant & no UV lamp needed.

Coral Queen / Flamenco Beach / Dive Right In / Purple Splash / Sun Fun Daze

A Two-Step Gel Colour System For Salon-Style Nails

  • 2 Simple Steps
  • Up to 14 days of gel colour & shine
  • No UV lamp needed
  • Apply 1–2 coats of Super Gel colour, followed by Super Gel Top Coat to activate curing
  • The built-in base coat means there’s no need to prep nails to achieve a salon-perfect finish
  • Dries like a regular nail polish
  • Nails are given an incredible shine and a super-smooth durable gel finish that covers any nail imperfections
  • Easy to Remove

Rimmel Super Gel Nail Polish

All 5 shades needed to coats but that made the colour very vibrant and opaque. No streaks and the formula was easy to work with too. I would say that I didn’t get 14 day wear on my fingers, but I did get 10 days on my toes. I opted for the Pink – Sun Fun Daze shade, and it was gorgeous and had a glossy finish, but the wear time just wasn’t fantastic.

I wouldn’t recommend these if you needed to rely on your manicure lasting for 2 weeks, but the Super Gel range have some beautiful shades and as a nail polish they apply well too. Not only that, but I have to say I’m looking forward to using the bright Orange – Coral Queen shade on my toes it will look so cute at the beach.

Over the years I have ordered quite a few of these Limited Edition Collection Boxes from Latest in Beauty. They’re always so well curated and offer fantastic value and I really like that you don’t have to sign up to a subscription. Their ‘The Bloom’ Box is only £20 but the contents are worth £84, that is quite a saving. This box is perfect way to update your beauty routine with some lovely Spring / Summer offerings. This box is described as featuring a bouquet of floral products, from fragrance to face mist, and even some cute floral nail art. #flowerpower

It really does have a great selection of brands and products all with a floral theme – so what can you expect to find in your box,

IZ Beauty of London Gel Effect Nail Polish (colour may vary)

This is a beautiful mint green nail polish, from a brand I have never tried before. It is always exciting to be introduced to new brands. These gel effect nail colours are designed for smooth application with a high gel-like shine with no need for a UV lamp. The patented plasticiser reduces risk of chipping and offers flexibility and a super gloss finish. Launching in over 40 shades in 6ml Mini Bottles.

iZ Beauty of London Deco iT nail decals

Also from iZ Beauty these floral decals are an easy way to make any manicure look cute. Or if like me you’re terrible at nail art, decals are fun alternative and often very inexpensive too.

LOLA Lipgloss

This is a stunning peachy pink and it looks so fresh and pretty on the lips. It has a high-shine finish and feels comfortable on the lips. It contains hydrating Hyaluronic Acid which works in combination with an active vitamin complex to help condition lips and give a plumped appearance. This is going straight in my handbag.

THE BODY SHOP British Rose Body Butter

This is the perfect size for taking away on holiday. I adore The Body Shop Body Butters because they leave my skin so soft and nourished. This Instant Glow formula has a pearlescent finish that helps skin look glowing and healthy. So not only will your skin smell incredible but is is going to be nourished and look super healthy.

Una Brennan Superfacialist Rose Hydrate Calming Creamy Cleanser

I love everything from the Una Brennan range and I think this cleanser is a great introduction for people that have never tried this brand. It is extremely gentle and will suit most skin types. It is formulated with moisturising Shea and Cocoa butters plus Pro Vitamin B5 so it won’t leave your skin feeling greasy. Cleansing your face with this creamy rose cleanser will feel pampering and luxurious.

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist

I’ve spoken about this face mist so many times on my blog and think it is a fantastic product for the warmer months. This product is calming, hydrating and so refreshing, which is why I always travel with one of these mini bottles. This is one of Jurlique’s international best selling products and once you have used it you will see why.

Argan+ Moroccan Rose Super Repair Hand & Nail Cream

This is another new brand for me and I am one of those people that needs a hand cream with them at all times, so I can never have too many tubes. This Argan+ one sounds very luxurious and I am excited to give it a go.

The Bloom LIB Beauty Box

Miller Harris Rose Silence

I am so excited to see this travel friendly version of my favourite perfume included in this box. I adore this fresh rose scent and I can’t describe to you just how beautiful this perfume is. Miller Harris describe it as ‘fruity, flirty, and floral, Rose Silence is a breath of fresh air on a bright summer’s day’ and I have to say they sum it up perfectly. It is a modern rose scent and I always get compliments when I wear it.

Caudalie VineActiv Energizing and Smoothing Eye Cream

Another brand I am thrilled to see in this box, Caudalie skincare is luxurious and I have always found it very effective. Eye cream is often a product people overlook from their skincare routine but when you discover that perfect one you realise the difference they can make. This one from Caudalie is ‘designed to help your skin combat the effects of your hectic lifestyle, this gentle, smoothing eye cream visibly alleviates dark circles and energises the eye area’ It is gentle, lightweight and wears well under makeup.

The Vintage Cosmetic Company Duo Pencil Sharpener

A pencil sharpener is always a handy beauty tool to have and I love that this duo version is hot pink with white polka dots – who said tools can’t be cute too. A duo version is ideal too because we need to be able to sharpen all our beauty crayons and pencils!

Charlestown Harbour Cornwall

It has been a while since I shared photos from Cornwall since we got back from Berlin last month we have been super busy with work and the weather hasn’t been too great. On those few elusive sunny days we tried to make the most of them and get outside, so here are a few photos from this last month. Enjoy x

Exploring Plymouth

Architecture at Royal William Yard

We headed to Plymouth for the day and explored down at Royal William Yard, which is stunning and a lovely place to have lunch/dinner. We landed luckily on a warm day and it was nice to be by the water and enjoy the architecture and history of this old naval dockyard. There are quite a few restaurants, cafes and bars which have outside seating to enjoy the sun and surroundings. It was a 15-minute walk from the centre and well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

The walk was pleasant and I couldn’t help but take photos of all the beautiful, brightly coloured houses on the way. I really want to live in a mint green house, how cute would that be.
