Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum

I like using a serum and enjoy this step in my skincare routine, I use one morning and night after cleansing but before moisturising, I think being in my mid thirties it is a step my skin really benefits from. I’ve used quite a few over the years and have a few favourites I call upon when needed. This Avene one came at the right time for me as I was told about 6 weeks ago that my skin was quite dehydrated, so I have been using products this past month or so to try and hydrate my skin. It has worked a treat. I was excited to try this Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum* as I have heard lots of positive reviews of this brand and also of French Skincare in general.

Avene use their Thermal Spring Water in each product which is clinically proven to be naturally soothing and have a calming effect on the skin so with this added benefit this serum is perfect for sensitive skin as it is gentle, calming and protects the skin. I used it in the morning before applying the rest of my skincare, The serum is very lightweight and it felt cooling on my skin. I would apply it before my moisturiser and let is absorb in to the skin for a good few minutes, then apply the rest of my lotions & potions.

‘The thermal water is carried by lipsomes in a patented system to ensure an optimum long lasting diffusion of moisture  in the upper layer of the skin. The glycerine improves the skin hydration, suppleness and comfort. Thanks to the delicate formula of the Soothing Hydrating Serum the skin is silky smooth and rebalanced.’

I found after a few weeks my skin looked brighter, smoother and generally healthier. I do suffer from quite noticeable redness, from some broken capillaries so this wouldn’t stop that but I will say that it helped calm redness around a few angry blemishes I had and helped my skin heal a little quicker after the blemish had gone.

Avene Serum

I like to layer up my skincare but I don’t like to feel that I have applied anything to heavy or greasy, and this Avene Serum slotted into my routine well, as I said its lightweight, almost gel like in texture and non greasy so once absorbed it left my skin feeling instantly smooth and ready for my moisturiser. I have dehydrated skin but suffer from a terribly oily t zone and this serum worked well for me. I had no problems with excess oil and it really helped give my skin a boost of hydration and helped make it look plump and less dull.

This serum comes in a nice glass bottle with a good sturdy pump dispenser, this is so handy and hygienic. It dispenses just the right amount of product in two pumps for my face and neck. Only using 2 small pumps a day this bottle will last a fair amount of time. Which is always great, I hate it when skincare lasts all of a month. It never feels like good value for money.

If you’re looking for a serum to hydrate, calm and protect your skin then this Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum would be a good fit for you. Have you tried any French Skincare? Let me know what your must haves are.

balance Me Rose Otto Body Balm

boldybalm

rose otto body balm

I think I’ve found my Autumn / Winter body product. This balance Me rose otto body balm* is hydrating and perfect for those areas that need a little more moisture / TLC during the colder months. You only need a small amount, but you need to warm it up in between your hands, so it is easier to work into your skin. I like to put it on after a bath, it smells so relaxing. This balm melts into the skin and leaves it very soft, smooth, very hydrated and not at all greasy.

balance Me

The almond oil and shea butter give your skin a double whammy of moisture and leave it looking healthy and feeling so smooth.

I can see this tub lasting me throughout the winter, as I’ve not even put a dent in it, even though I have been using it 2–3 times a week for a couple of months.

If you’re looking for something lighter on your skin than a body butter or even as an alternative some nights this body balm is perfect and if you like rose scented products then this is a must for your winter skincare stash.

A little Nip + Fab Body Butter

Nip + Fab Pistachio Sundae Body Butter *

I was lucky enough to get this Body Butter in the Live Bloggers goody bag back in September and I’ve been using it since. I’m hooked on this stuff. It’s specifically for dry skin – so this was the best time of year to put that to the test.

I think first off the number one thing about this Nip + Fab Pistachio Sundae Body Butter is the scent, its heavenly. I have the pot on my desk (I work from home) & I find myself just taking the lid off to smell it & I have been known to use it as a hand cream. The scent is THAT good. I have heard this is a great dupe for the Laura Mercier Crème de Pistache Soufflé Body Crème – I can’t confirm that. But I do know that this Nip + Fab version is a fraction of the price and the sweet Pistachio scent is amazing. AMAZING 😮

As I said this is aimed at dry skin and I fit that bill to a T. My skin is really dry on my legs. I have been using the body butter a couple of times a week at night only on my legs as these are the driest part and this is quite a heavy butter. I find it takes a while to absorb but it’s really easy to massage in as it’s not too thick, in fact it is quite creamy/buttery consistency. It feels and smell luxurious and I like the ritual of putting it on. Its been a god send over the past few weeks esp as it has really got cold & my skin dry.

I find that using it over night gives it time to really absorb into the skin without feeling greasy throughout the day. I wake up in the morning to lovely smooth skin – that smells so good. This really does get the thumbs up from me. You get a really good-sized pot – 200ml for £9.95

Have you tried anything from Nip + Fab? I have my eye on the Body Butter Bundle – 3 body butters in the scents Mango Smoothie, Coconut Latte & Pistachio Sundae. I also like the sound of the Dark Circle Fix

Your Skin Will Drink This Up

I recieved this Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum in my Glossybox. I have only tried one other product by them – the Beauty Elixir –> You can read the post here on that. So other than that i hadn’t tried anything else by them so was excited to see this in my Glossybox. Its described as,

‘is a highly hydrating serum, ideal for extremely dehydrated skin and is suitable for all skin types’

Oh my word, this is so hydrating! There’s nothing else to say other than its amazing. This sample size lasted me about 3 weeks and I was really sad when it ran out. It left my skin feeling so soft and fresh. It’s quite a runny consistency so be careful not to squeeze out too much product. You’ll only need a small amount. But once massaged in to your skin it soaks in so fast and you really do feel like its working right away, my skin felt so smooth and not tight at all.

My sample size was 10ml – the full size will cost you £26.10 for 30ml from Feel Unique. At the moment i can’t afford the full size and im gutted as this is a great product. I’m on the look out for a voucher to get me some discount so if you know of any PLEASE let me know because i need this in my life. It’s a great product for hydrating and calming your skin. I know i will defiantly be buying the full size of this (at some point). So if you can i recommend trying this.

Did you get it in your Glossybox? What did you think of it?
