Boots Beauty Bargains

Its been a while since I did any beauty related shopping in the UK, after spending quite alot whilst on holiday in San Francisco back in June I’ve tried to stay away from any new collections and the temptation of Boots & Superdrug. I think I’ve done quite well, that being said I popped into boots yesterday & found lots of items 3rd off or 1/2 price, I also had a voucher for the Bontanics line so that added to my savings. This is what I came home with.

Travel Skincare

Better late than never – I forgot to post this Travel Skincare Post, I’ve been back from holiday for almost a month and it pains me to say that. I still have the holiday blues. Here is a roundup of what skincare I took to San Francisco, I tried to take sachets and miniatures as I really wanted to travel light & only take things that I know I would use.

Travel Skincare

Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream – This smells really fresh and not sweet like alot of hand creams. I would say it’s quite a grown up scent and I like it. It absorbs in to my hands really fast and I don’t have to re apply it much throughout the day.

No7 Anti Dark Spot Facial Sun Protection in Factor 50 – I have a post on this here but its safe to say I love this. Its great under makeup and doesn’t break me out. My husband even puts this on his face and he normally finds SPF too greasy on his skin. This will always be my go to facial sun protection.

Caudalie Lip Conditioner – This was so hydrating on the flight and I used it alot whilst on holiday, the only downside was that it snapped and melted a little too. But it is a very hydrating lip balm.

Sanex Deodorant – The boring necessity.

FCUK Body Butter – This was part of a Christmas set and came in so handy. I used it every day and it lasted me the full 8 days of my holiday. Left my skin smooth and soft.

Travel Skincare

Caudalie Micellar Water – I thought this might not last me but it did and I liked using it. It wasn’t great at removing Waterproof mascara but I very rarely wear it.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil – I may have found my HG cleanser. This was a dream to use, my makeup melted off my face and found massaging this into my face at night really relaxing and my skin looked so good all week & normally after a 12 hour flight my skin hates me. So I will be purchasing the full size of this as soon as my mini runs out. This small bottle has lasted me for 4 weeks of use, that’s crazy – a little goes a long way for sure.

San Francisco Skincare

Carex Hand Gel – I only used this for travel, to keep those pesky germs at bay. I picked up some amazingly gorgeous smell Bath and Body Works Hand Sanitiser whilst I was in San Francisco so I used that whilst I was there.

Elemis Amozing Shampoo and Pro Vitamin Conditioner – I had 2 of each bottle to take and they were initially from the APEX Hotel in London, I have no shame in taking the products away with me & when they’re Elemis even better. This Shampoo & Conditioner combination kept my hair looking glossy and quite tame in the heat of San Francisco.

Molton Brown Shower Gel – I am a huge fan of most of the Molton Brown scents and this Body Lotion was just lovely for holiday. It’s like a little bit of luxury.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir – Perfect as a cool down refreshing spray in the Californian heat. I took it on the plane too and loved using it.

Skincare

These are the skincare samples I took. Quite a few were from my recent What in My Handbag purchase. The Oskia skincare I thought smelt a little odd & although they left my skin super soft, I’m not sure I would pay their prices. The Aesop offerings I loved & I haven’t tried anything from this brand that I haven’t loved. Out of the 3 Oskia sachets I took with me the Get Up & Glow Booster was my favourite.

NUDE Miracle Mask was lovely, I used this one night before going out to dinner and it left my skin so smooth and hydrated. Contemplating purchasing the full size.

I used the Trilogy Rosehip Oil on the plane as a moisture boost and washed off the excess before I got off. It seemed to do the trick.

Korres – Moisturiser and Serum were a lovely combination. I have to say that I am in love with the serum. It was just what my skin needed after a long warm day in the City. My drink lapped it up.

I didn’t end up using the Rodial Mask or the Creme De La Mere Moisturiser.

So all in all I think I managed to travel pretty light and I used up most of the products I took with me which meant I had more room to bring back American Goodies! See my haul here and here

Sheet Mask Purchases

Whilst I was in San Francisco I wanted to visit Japan Town and more specifically The Face Shop. I had heard a few YouTubers talk about the one in Dubai and I wanted to have a look and see what cute fun Asian cosmetics they had and also buy some skincare.

The sales assistant was so sweet and very helpful even though the shop was busy. It seemed like a really popular place to go. I was drawn to their very large range of sheet masks, I have never tried them before and have heard great things about them. I bought 6 ranging in price from $2 – $6. Utter bargains.

The Face Shop

First up The two Masks at the top of the photo really intrigued me as the have a separate section that has what feels like a liquid / serum in. They are masks by 3D Ampoule and I bought the Ceramide & Red Ginseng and the other is the Hyaluronic Acid & Colostrum. The instructions tell you to apply the liquid to your skin after washing your face then to place the mask on to your face and let the residue absorbe into your skin. These were $5 each.

Sheet Mask

I was after masks that would help make my skin look brighter and radiant so this next mask is for Hydrating and Revitalising so I was all over that and plus the packaging also looks super cute. Its called the Vita B Hydro Gel Mask $3

Star Fruit Extract

Face MasksNext up I bought 2 of these so I could give one to a friend, its the CO-Q10 Essential Sheet Mask $2 each. This mask is meant to leave the skin smooth and supple. So we will see how I get on.

The Face Shop

And finally the last Korean Skincare Mask I bought was the Real Oriental Herb Mask for Revitalization and this is aimed and skin that is dull and lot its radiance. I am excited to try this one as it says is contains a formula produced by brewing Korean-sourced Oriental Herbs, I am loving the sound of that. $6

Lift Away The Years Beauty Wand

I’m turning 35 in October, and keeping my skin looking the best it can is a daily mission – or you could say battle. It’s taken me a long time to really work out my skin and what it needs and likes. I’m someone who has never been interested in cosmetic surgery, it’s just not for me. I know people say ‘never say never’ but I’d like to keep my skin looking its best through diet, exercise and skincare.

God bless Caroline Hirons and her no-nonsense approach to skincare, she’s really changed the way I take care of my skin. I know I’m not alone on that. I’ve been shopping smarter and really purchasing products that have long-term benefits rather than quick fixes, and thanks to Caroline’s blog I now have a skincare regime I’m almost 100% happy with. Being a blogger and all round beauty junkie, we’re always looking for the next big thing or lusting after one product or another. So I don’t think I will ever be 100% happy.

At the beginning of the year I was invited along with some other lovely North West Bloggers to the Crystal Clear Event in Manchester and unfortunately due to the bad snow I was unable to make it. But I was contacted after the event to see if I wanted to test out their ‘Lift Away The Years Wand’ and I jumped at the chance. I’d seen a British Beauty Blogger’s review of it back in February, and she quite liked it. So I’m very excited to give it a whirl. Crystal Clear took 30 women and their study showed a ‘27% reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and a 45% increase in skin firmness.’

Lift Away The Years Wand

Crystal Clear recommend that in order to see the best results to use the wand both morning and night. The wand works by using gentle vibrations to stimulate your facial muscles and this will help, tone lax skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines. I do have fine lines around my eye area, so I’m most excited to see how much they reduce.  The wand itself is light and very easy to use. Super compact if you wanted to take it with you when travelling.

If you’ve read my blog for a while you will have noticed that I rarely put photos of myself on, but I thought in order to show you the real results I get from using this wand I’d put a before photo on and in a couple of months show you my progress. So please be nice. I want to try to reduce the lines around my eyes and also my mouth.
