Mac Beluga Dupe

I have never done a dupe post before but when I spotted how similar these were I was quite excited. The price difference is crazy. In my collection I have quite a few cute Maybelline Mono Eyeshadows which I bought from the Poundshop a couple of years ago. I noticed shade 742 was almost identical to Mac’s Beluga shadow.

The Maybelline Mono Shadow is almost identical to Mac’s Beluga. I’d say the Maybelline shadow is  slightly more pigmented but you do get a little fallout. They’re both a dark charcoal brown shade with shimmer running through them. I have to say I like the Maybelline one slightly more as I think it is easier to blend and you get better colour payoff, but as suspected the Mac Beluga lasts longer which you would expect from the price tag.

Mac describe Beluga as a dark charcoal with multi-dimensional pearl (with a Veluxe finish), I think in some lights both shadows look like they have a green undertone and a gold shimmer. Its very pretty.

Mac Beluga is a Veluxe finish and I find it to be quite dry, not smooth on the eye, but the colour is pretty. With a primer it applies much easier and  the same goes for the Maybelline Mono shadow.

Beluga was part of the Indulge Collection so is no longer available but the Maybelline 742 is often available on eBay & Amazon. I have seen it a few times in the Poundshop as well. If you see it I urge you to buy it, you won’t have a shade like it in your collection.

Do you have either of these shadows in your collection? Or something similar?
