Nail Care Trio

Bourjous Magic Nail Polish Remover / Sally Hansen Gel Cuticle Remover / Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

I’m quite lazy when it comes to my nails. I go through periods of taking care f them & I promise myself I will stick at it but the inevitable always happens and they get neglected. I’ve made it my daily new year resolution to REALLY take care of them. I have been looking through my nail care products to see what I have & what I need to buy (any excuse to go shopping).

These 3 products are ones that I do use – although the Bourjous Magic Nail Polish Remover I could live without & when its finished I am not too sure I will repurchase. Yes it is quick and makes the task of removing your nail polish easy. But it isn’t great at taking off glitter polish & you can’t take your toe nail polish off with it either so you always need to have a regular bottle of remover & cotton wool anyway so why have both??

The Sally Hansen Gel Cuticle Remover is really good. I picked this up in TK Maxx for £3 & when I remember to use it – it worked well. You just apply it to your cuticles and leave it for 10 minutes then wash it off and push back your cuticles. This removes any excess skin and keeps those pesky cuticles at bay. SO I really like this. Its cheap & works well.

The Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream is something I’ve had for at least a year, it looks like I have hardly used it. It’s going to last for a really long time. I do take this everywhere in my handbag. My cuticles and around my nail gets so dry so I am forever rubbing this on to my fingers & my hubby even used it on a flight once as his hands were so dry and he really liked it too. The action of rubbing it in I find really relaxing and its citrus scent os so good. This product is a god send during these epic dry months.

So fellow bloggers I need some nail care recommendations. What should I add to my regime? Any oils or products to strengthen my nails? I need some advice.

  1. I’m trying to grow mine. Well I always am but they split and peel… Argh. I don’t like the bourjois. It’s oily. When mine is done with, I’m just gonna wash out the sponge as it now puts glitter back on my fingers and fill it with normal polish.

I don’t do removing or pushing back my cuticles. I gotta say I hate how it looks. It’s not too bad on slim people but I hate seeing it on people with chubbier fingers… it makes them look even chubbier and it’s just not attractive… Nails make a big impression imo. If they’re dirty or shedded, it makes you look dirty and unkempt. Though I think I have decent cuticles. Notice on my nail pictures, they’re always there, never stripped off or pushed back, that’s just my own preference though. I’m always slathering my hands in cream nowadays and massaging it in to them so… I think I may push them back a little if my fingers ever get slimmer. XD

Also removing cuticles makes you more likely to get infections etc and this can make your nails get all deformed and warmed. Cuticles help protect keratine cells from harm as they grow and make your fingernails grow. Not many people manage to only get the part of the cuticle that is dead, and getting the fresh stuff as I said a mo ago can lead to infection. I’m really paranoid about infections and stuff with my body being so rubbish immune-wise! Pushing them back is okay though as long as you don’t tear them. Though ofc I’m no expert but this is what I’ve learned in my crusade for lovely nails!

I haven’t tried any cuticle creams, just use my L’occitane handcream 😀 Almost finished my current tube… but I have two more… I do love burts bees though and currently use Acai lip balm!
The only tip I have is to only file in one direction and keep it to a minimum…!

    Whew. Sorry that was long!

    1. I know what you mean. Nothing works 100%. My cuticles are OK but not great – the Sally Hansen remover is the best remover I have found
