This Weeks Happy #10

Nike Trainers

My Nike Free Runs – I have had them for a little over a month now & I am in LOVE. I haven’t owned a pair of trainers in what feels like forever but I just love how these look & OMG they’re so comfy. I managed to squeeze my feet into a kids size, so paid half the price & that made me very happy indeed. I always see sleek chic woman in cities wearing these & I like their look so check me in my new city trainers. They won’t be in the gym any time soon, that I can tell you!

Central Perk Cafe Liverpool

Central Perk Hatton Gardens Liverpool is a must for any Friends fans – its a replica of the actual cafe & I think they have done a pretty good job. They always have episodes playing on massive TV’s and the atmosphere is relaxing & well worth a visit. My husband says the coffee is good & they have quite a good selection of food & American candy.

Sunny Liverpool

Liverpool on a sunny day – there is something magical about Liverpool on a warm sunny day. Its beautiful & everyone seems even more friendly & there are so many places to relax & soak up the weather. I always manage to find a spot to sit and have a picnic. The Docks have been regenerated over the past 10 years & when the sun is out a walk along them with an ice cream is perfect.

You Look Lovely Today

My Alphabet bag is used daily & the ‘You Look Lovely Today’ slogan makes me smile. Its just a tote bag but I really like it and its very good quality too. Alphabet print & make all their products in the UK, so its nice to support a home grown business.

Blogosphere Magazine Feature

OK so this is major for me, I am in the new edition of Blogosphere magazine as one of Sophia from TattooTeaLady (who is the beauty editor) 5 favourite beauty bloggers & I get a whole page. I can’t quite believe I am in print in an actual magazine that is available to buy in WH Smith. I am alongside 4 really wonderful beauty bloggers & I am thrilled to have been included. If you want to get this months edition you can download it to your iPad or it is available in larger WH Smith stores. Let me know if you get a copy & if you do take a photo & tag me in it :o)

Let me know what has been making you happy lately x

Floral Memento Body Products

Floral Memento Body Products

I visited the & Other Stories store in London a couple of years ago & treated myself to a few products, I thought it was a great shop and wish I’d had a little more time to browse not only the beauty products but also the clothes. I can’t wait to visit again but I was very impressed with the products I bought and think their range is very affordable and really good quality. So I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to review two products from their new Floral Memento range.

I love setting a day aside every week to do a full on pamper session. I run a bath, do a face mask and give my skin a little TLC. I have been enjoying these two body products from the & Other Stories Floral Memento Collection With the weather getting warmer & the inevitability of getting my legs out, I have found this duo leave my skin hydrated and smooth and a great pre tanning combo.

The Floral Memento range smells to me like a fresh summers day – its quite sweet but with a sophisticated musky layer. It has notes of,

  • Top: Lemon, Bergamot, Blackberries
  • Heart: Violet, Lavender, Peony
  • Base: Musks, Mate leaves, Cedarwood

Floral Memento Collection

Floral Memento Body Scrub* £7 – A lovely sugar scrub that polishes / scrubs away the dead skin leaving your body feeling silky smooth. I’ve found its the perfect pre tanning product because after using this your tan doesn’t go patchy or cling to dry area like knees and elbows. I like a scrub that doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped or that is too abrasive & this one is just perfect, its quite gentle and leaves your skin feeling hydrated too.

Floral Memento Body Soufflé* £10 – This is a very lightweight whipped body cream which doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy at all. I like that it almost sinks in instantly and gives your skin a smooth supple finish. This Body Soufflé is ideal for those warmer days / nights when you don’t want to wait for a heavy body butter to sink in as it is so lightweight and silky soft. I like to apply it before I tan because it hydrates and gives your skin a smooth finish.

They both come in a tub with a screw top lid which I like for the body lotion but its not my favourite packaging for a shower product & find that in the shower my tub fills with up with water before I can put the lid back on. I prefer a squeeze tube or one with a pump, they’re more hygienic & easier to use when your hands are wet.

They both smell incredible and it is a scent that lingers on my skin throughout the day, if you like fresh summery floral scents you will enjoy this range. I’ve been trying these two products but this bath and body range also includes a body mist, hand wash, hand lotion, body wash and body lotion so quite a selection. I’m really tempted to get the body mist.

If you can’t get to the London store fear not you can purchase online at www.stories.com

Let me know what pamper products you have been enjoying & also if you have any & Other Stories product recommendations.

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier EDP

Roger Gallet Fig Perfume

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier Eau de Parfum

Roger & Gallet are a French Perfumery House founded in 1862 by merchant Charles Armand Roger and banker Charles Matial Gallet. Their products have such a rich history & they are famous for their beautiful scents which I have tried quite a few of but excitingly, 2015 see’s the release of Roger & Gallet first ever Eau de Parfum – Fleur de Figuier. I was lucky enough & thrilled to receive the most exquisite parcel from Roger & Gallet introducing me to this new release and I have fallen head over heels in love with it.

Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier EDP*

takes its inspiration from the beautiful Mediterranean Summers and encapsulates those sensual, sweet and fresh long Summer evenings.

‘Discover the bliss of an early evening spent in the Mediterranean garden of Esterel. This Eau de Parfum is a precious distillation of natural essences that reveals the intensity and sensuality of a sun-ripened fig heart. The mouth-watering and contrasting fresh notes enhance the accord of candied fig, musk and patchouli, for a truly relaxing effect.’

  • Top notes: precious essences of mandarin and pink peppers
  • Heart notes: fig tree leaves, juicy fig and violet wood
  • Base notes: white musk, candied fig and precious essence of patchouli

My absolute favourite scent in any product is Fig & if you’re a long time reader of my blog, you will know this. I adore the scent because it’s so rich, distinctive and sophisticated, and I think it’s a scent that can be worn all year round. This new addition to the Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier range is an intense, long-wearing scent that doesn’t dull throughout the day. I only have to apply this in the morning & It still smells beautiful on my skin long into the evening.

Some days I spray it & It smells really musky, whilst other days It smells more woody. I love that it’s such a layered and sophisticated perfume, and I have been reaching for it almost every day for 3 weeks.

If you’re looking for a new scent then I can highly recommend this new release from Roger & Gallet, it comes beautifully packaged in a glass bottle with touches of gold and purple and the scent is utterly divine. This is my favourite release from Roger & Gallet and I just know it will be a popular addition to their range.

Current Concealer Collection

mycurrent concealers

Even if I am not wearing a base (foundation, tinted moisturiser) I do like to wear a little concealer, just to cover a few blemish scars & make my dark circles look a little less dramatic. So here are my current concealers, I store them in a MUJI drawer & that fits them all in just perfectly.

My Current Concealers

Seventeen Phwoarr Concealer – LOVE this, the quality is so good for an affordable full coverage concealer. I use this to conceal spots, imperfections and some redness on my nose & chin, I wouldn’t use it as an under eye concealer. Only because its a little heavy and tends to gather in my fine lines. I have to say it rivals my beloved Benefit Boiing the only thing separating them is that the Seventeen one is a little more creamy & at a push the Benefit one lasts slightly longer.

Benefit Boiing – I have repurchased this so many times,This stuff covers imperfections like a hero! I’ve used it for years and can always rely on it to cover redness, blemishes and dark spots. It stays in place a heck of a long time, this stuff is heavy-duty. It’s a full coverage concealer but it doesn’t look heavy on the skin, you can blend it in so it looks even and not cakey at all. The formula is creamy and I find it works best if applied to the skin with your finger and blended out with a brush. A little goes a long way so start with a small amount and build up if you need too.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer – This only has a couple of uses left in it & I have enjoyed it but wouldn’t repurchase it. I used it as an under eye brightening concealer & think it did a good job of making my dark circles look brighter & my under eye area more awake. The reason I won’t be repurchasing is I found the product dried up quickly in the tube despite the lid being on very tight.

Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Brightening Illuminating Concealer  Love this – it is that perfect combination of concealer and highlighter. I bought it whilst in America This is really hydrating, which I need and that means it doesn’t crease. It’s quite lightweight but still offers good coverage. It isn’t heavy duty coverage but if you’re looking for a light to medium coverage I recommend trying this. I took the sponge applicator off as I didn’t like it & thought it was quite unhygienic.

Concealer Collection

Yves Rocher Radiant Youth Corrector Pen* – This is a clicker pen style concealer, which I like, I have the shade 1 which is a peachy pink colour and this works well to brighten and diffuse the darkness under my eyes. It is by no means a full coverage concealer and when my eyes look particularly dark I like to use my Bobbi Brown corrector as an extra step and use this on top for a little extra coverage. The formula is lovely and creamy and feels hydrating too.

Bobbi Brown Concealer Kit – It took mw ages to get this to work for me, the product used to sink into my fine lines but if I make a real effort to hydrate my under eyes the product looks OK. It is a creamy concealer so it is going to crease a little throughout the day but combined with the Bobbi Brown Corrector (which I LOVE) they make a really good combo & make my under eyes look bright and healthy. I tend to use this more in the evening as its quite heavy coverage & it is expensive so I like to keep it for special occasions.

Miss Sporty Liquid Concealer – This is a very budget friendly product, it is very creamy and hydrating, I have the shade Light & I use it under my eyes to brighten & make it appear that I’ve had 10 hours sleep. It does a pretty good job. I like it more than the Collection one (a lot more) as I find this blends better and is less drying. I have the shade 001 Light.

My Current Concealers 2015

Seventeen Stay Time 18 Hour Concealer  – This is quite a blogger favourite & it was recommended to me so many times, I’m very glad I bought it as it is a very very good concealer for blemishes. It gives good coverage without being heavy or looking like you have tried to cover up imperfections. The staying power of this is up there with high end concealers. If you buy one product from this post make sure it is this one!

Sheer Cover Conceal & Brighten Trio* £24.95 – I only really use the concealer shades in the trio and they’re good at counteracting dark under eyes and concealing flaws. I like to use them together and think they work much like the Bobbi Brown kit. They’re not as creamy as the Bobbi Brown ones but they are easy to blend and they don’t dry out the area. I think this kit is a little pricey but it is handy to travel with as it has a decent mirror & its perfect for having in your handbag to reapply / touch up on the go.

Rimmel Match Perfection Illuminating Concealer – This is good for brightening the under eye area, its not the best at covering blemishes or imperfections (as it does have an illuminating quality to it). It is quite creamy but looks fresh and bright and if you use a lightweight powder over the top it stays in place nicely all day.

Sleek MakeUp Corrector & Concealing Palette – This doesn’t get as much love from me as it deserves, I think thats because I have an abundance of similar concealers. I think when I have used up a couple of the others I will use this more. You get a peachy correcting shade, a concealer shade & a yellow toned powder (good for highlighting and keeping concealer in place). This is really well packaged in a slim sturdy palette with a nice sized mirror. I might take this with me next time I travel. Oh & this also has SPF15 in which is unusual for concealers.
