Orly Coastal Crush Summer Collection*

This collection from ORLY features six new shades for Summer. It seems ORLY has stayed away from the NEON trend and opted for more subtle but still vibrant shades and I like that. I think ORLY have covered all bases and offer a selection of shades which most people would associate with a Summer holiday. Although I have to say I’m on the fence about the dark blue shade – Under The Stars, I am not sure it fits in with the collection for me, what do you think?

NEW ORLY Coastal Crush Summer Nail Polish Releases

I found the two shades I was testing to be opaque in two coats and the formula was fluid and easy to work with. The shade For The First Time (Pink) is my favourite out of the two I have tested and it looked instantly Summery on my nails. This colour would look gorgeous with a nice tan (which I do not have). Under The Stars (blue) had a little sparkle to it and it is a pretty shade but I think this is more of a Autumn / Winter shade.

The collection features six shades,

  • No Regrets – Vibrant, bold fuschia pink
  • Sea You Soon – Sweet blue with a shimmer running through
  • Summer Fling – Gorgeous peach
  • Surfer Dude – Stunning bright orange
  • Under The Stars – Deep blue shimmer
  • For The First Time – Pretty bright purple / pink cream shade

New ORLY Summer Nail Polishes 2017

The blue took a little longer to dry and I wish I’d have used three coats as I felt it wasn’t as opaque as I’d hoped. The pink shade was stunning and I am still wearing it on my toes, having chosen to reapply it for the 3rd time in a month. It looks super cute with my open toe sandals and it is for sure my go to nail polish for Summer 2017.

I do like the look of a couple of the other shades in this collection – No Regrets and Summer Fling. They both are very beachy shades and I can imagine they would look beautiful with a tan.

Orly Glosser Top Coat

This Orly Glosser High Shine Topcoat* was in my #midsummermeet goody bag from way back last summer and I’d completely forgot about it and discovered it hiding amongst my far too large nail polish collection (which needs to be culled). I’ve used it as my topcoat the past 3 times I’ve painted my nails and lets just say I’m smitten.

I’m one of those people that chips my manicure almost within an hour of applying it and thats so frustrating, my job involves alot of crafting & using my hands and so that never helps preserve my pretty polish. Each time I have applied this topcoat my manicure has lasted a whole WEEK without chipping. At first I thought it was a fluke but no after using it 3 times over the past 4 weeks my nail polish has lasted a whole 7 days without chipping and in my household thats a flipping miracle.

Yes this is meant to be a super high shine topcoat and although it did leave my nail polish looking glossy and shiny it was not any better for that than my Sally Hansen or Avon topcoats but it was the way it helped preserve my manicure that really bowled me over. I am very impressed and won’t be straying from this topcoat. I will say that the shine from this topcoat didn’t dull over the week & as my manicures never normally last that long I can’t say if my others did – so thats a plus for Orly.

The packaging is user friendly in that the purple lid has a rubber feel and is easy to grip / use, the bottle is frosted glass and gives the liquid a blue tint. The brush is quite long and not too thick & the product itself is quite a thin liquid and smells fairly strong (but the scent doesn’t last) I did find it easy to apply and my manicure dried quickly and evenly.

Have you tried this topcoat? Or any Orly polishes you would recommend, I’m intrigued to see if their nail polishes are as good quality as their topcoat.
