Favourite Pinks

I have to admit when it comes to wearing lip products I tend to stick with a lip balm but I am trying my best to use the few lip glosses & lipsticks I have in my stash a lot more. I have some really lovely ones & it’s a shame they get overlooked so I have done a little reshuffle with my makeup & I’ve been shopping my stash and this selection of pink lip products has been getting a lot more use this past month.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Cherish

I’ve had this for a couple of years & out of the 5 this is the one I’ve worn the most. It’s a very pretty bright bubblegum pink. Its quite vibrant on the lips & feels glossy but not tacky. I love that this is a twist up crayon & it’s so easy to apply on the go. The colour is quite long wearing and I do like the minty scent of these too. I have a few of these balm stains but this is by far my favourite colour, it just brightens up my face & makes me look awake.

Collection Cream Puff in Cotton Candy

I just spoke about this in my June Favourites post & I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this looked on me & how soft and moisturising it was on my lips. The colour is a deep pink which dries to a velvet matte finish. It smells of candy floss & it’s my first matte lip product & I love it so much that I want all the other shades.

Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in First Date*

This is the sweetest soft pink shade and it makes me look really healthy and adds a really nice pop of colour to my lips. I was impressed by the pigmentation and it really translates on to your lips. It looks like there is shimmer when in the tube but that didn’t translate to the lips. It’s a shade that makes your complexion look bright and having quite a dull complexion I need all the radiance-boosting I can get. Its the perfect pink gloss for summer, the texture is creamy & glossy but not tacky on the lips. Just a lovely simple pink gloss.

Avon Plump Pout

This is one of those minty tingling plumping glosses which is OK but not my favourite, I find it does plump a little but not that anyone else would notice. The colour is really pretty though & on my lips, it looks quite a peachy pink. Its quite a thick consistency & I like that because if I can still feel it on my lips I know that I don’t need to reapply. I like the packaging, its slim, sleek and takes up no room at all in my makeup bag. The wand applicator is a little brush which makes applying this gloss very easy and mess free and you get the most glossy finish on the lips, very pretty.

Wet n Wild Lip Shimmer

This is one of my all-time favourite lip balms as it packs a punch when it comes to colour pay off they are so opaque on the lips. It was such a bargain too at less than $2, the colour is more of a red toned pink and it gives your lips a great pop of colour. It feels moisturising and has a glossy sheen also the colour wears off evenly although it’s not hugely long-lasting. I wish I’d bought more of these when I had the chance. Also, these are called lip shimmers but this one has no shimmer at all on the lips.

Let me know what your favourite pink lip gloss/lip crayons are & have you used any of the ones I have mentioned?

A Few June 2014 Favourites

June was a quick month, but it was a lovely sunny one. I love rounding up my most used & loved products from the month and June’s picks are all new mentions which have all grown to be firm favourites.

Favourite Products

Rimmel Glam Eyes in Brixton Brown – I love this small palette, you get 5 really wearable shades. They’re all pigmented and very easy to work with, I do like to wear a primer under them just so they don’t crease. I don’t normally wear a smoky eye & I still need a little more practise but I’m loving using this to experiment. It has a handy step by step guide on the back which I follow (smoky eye for dummies). I do really love the red toned copper colour in the centre the most, its gorgeous to wear it alone all over the lid.

Crazy Rumors Black Cherry Lip Balm* OMG this smells so good, not the artificially sweet but actually of cherries all fruity and so good. Not only does it smell incredible but it is very hydrating and leaves my lips feeling soft and I don’t have to reapply it as much as I’d like to (as it keeps my lips hydrated for hours). These Crazy Rumor lip balms come in so many flavours all of which sound wonderful & obviously I need them ALL!

Collection Cream Puff Lip Cream – I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to jump on this band wagon! I finally bought one & went for the Cotton Candy shade which is a very pretty sweet bubblegum pink. Its applies nice and creamy on the lips & feels moisturising & it dries to a velvet matte finish. Despite this being a matte finish it doesn’t feel drying at all & wears off the lips evenly after a few hours. Its pretty, cheap & it smells so good! Thats 3 reasons you should buy it, if you haven’t already.

Skincare Favourites

Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base – I bought this a couple of months ago & I like to wear it either under my foundation to perk my skin up or I mix it in with my foundation for an extra reflective boost. This gives me a healthy glow without being shimmery, it evens out my skin tone and hides imperfections. I have the shade Champagne 02 & its very good at dulling the redness in my skin. I find it very lightweight & doesn’t feel greasy on the skin at all, it just gives you a lovely fresh healthy finish. It makes a really nice base to apply your foundation too & just keeps your complexion looking fresh & bright.

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist* – It was my husband that first introduced me to Jurlique about 6 years ago after he purchased some of their hand creams for me as a gift from SPACE NK & I have grown to love the brand ever since, This Rosewater face mist has been a Summer saviour. Its so refreshing in the heat, I have been keeping it in the fridge for an extra cooling treat. Not only is this refreshing but its very hydrating, calming and is rich in antioxidants too. So its very much a skin treat. I love using it after cleansing but also throughout the day as a refreshing skin boost.

Clarins Energizer Emulsion – Since I sold my car a few months ago I have been doing 100% more walking & my legs are often so achy at night, I have been applying this lotion when they feel tired & this soothes them. It contains Camomile, Basil, Sage and Cypress – so calming, soothing & uplifting for your tired body. It feels cooling on the skin when you apply it & by morning my legs are ready for the day. I’ve read that this also great for tired feet, so will be applying it to my feet too.

Let me know if you have been using any of my June Favourites & let me know what you have been loving too.

L’Oreal Colour Riche L’Ombre Pure Mono Eyeshadows

I have been swatching these L’Oreal Colour Riche L’Ombre Pure Eyeshadows every time I go into Superdrug and although I have plenty of similar colours in my collection these were just too gorgeous not to have. I did limit myself to 2 colours, I think there are 20 in total and I could have bought so many more. The two I bought are typical of the colours I gravitate towards, I like to play it safe when it comes to eyeshadows and I try to buy colours that I will reach for often so that means I have a drawer full of very similar neutral colours (I’m an addict I will admit it).

Eyeshadows

So I bought 201 Cafe Saint Germain and 204 Golden Nude, both are gorgeous. They have a butter soft texture to them and feel almost wet to the touch. The colour payoff is beautiful and vivid, you can really build these up to an intense colour. These are essentially like a pressed pigment and they apply an intense wash of colour without having to pack on the shadow, there is no fall out with these and look beautiful worn alone all over the lid. Thats how I like to wear them, effortless to apply and they look stunning.

Mono eyeshadows

Colour Riche shadows

These both have a metallic like finish and are gel infused which means they feel very buttery and apply so smooth. You can apply these with a brush or just as easily with your finger and they blend out like a dream. If you have tried the L’Oreal Infallible shadows these are very similar to those, but these don’t have that crumbly texture these are so smooth.

The black and gold packaging looks luxurious and pretty it also feels sleek and they’re quite compact which is always good for travel. They feel quite sturdy and like they will last you well. I hate flimsy packaging that falls apart after a few uses.

L'Oreal Mono Shadow Colour Riche Shadows

204 Golden Nude // 201 Cafe Saint Germain £5.49 each

Golden Nude is exactly that – a really lovely golden colour the finish is like velvet and is the perfect summer shade. I have been wearing this all over the lid with a touch of brown eyeliner. It stays vibrant all day long. This colour reminds me of Amber Lights from Mac.

Cafe Saint Germain – this is the perfect pinky taupe colour and some lights it looks rose gold its just beautiful. Again like the other colour it is pigmented and has that same shimmery finish – not glittery but these have an almost frost like finish to them. I can’t get enough of this colour and think its been my eyeshadow of choice for a few weeks.

These L’Oreal Colour Riche L’Ombre Pure Eyeshadows come in a range of finishes and there is something for everyone Matte, Nude, Smoky, Lumiere and Chameleon. If you haven’t already you need to swatch these in store, you won’t be disappointed. Let me know if you have bought any of these & if so what colours you love.

Barbara Daly Long Wear Eye Shadows

Cream eyeshadow sticks

I first read about these Barbara Daly Long Wear Eyeshadows on Describe The Sky & being a cream shadow addict, I had to pop to Tesco to get a couple. I bought the colours Shimmer Sand & Shell, both very safe neutral colours, but they’re the sort of shades I will get the most wear from. These were a bargain at £3 each, and I have been thrilled with the quality and colour pay off.

Barbara Daly Shadow Sticks

I own quite a few cream eyeshadow sticks from brands like Rimmel, Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier and ELF these Barbara Daly ones are on a par with my Bobbi Brown one in terms of quality and how long they last. They’re fantastic quality at a fraction of the cost. I wear both colours I bought alone all over the lid. I apply the product directly to my eyelid and either blend out with my finger or a fluffy blending brush, either method works well. These blend very easily and after a couple of minutes they have dried enough that you won’t be able to blend them & they stay in place for HOURS! Much longer than my Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks

Shell // Shimmer Sand (facing away from the light)

Product Swatch

Shell // Shimmer Sand (facing the light)

Shimmer Sand – This is a very pretty peach/ nude tone with a hint of bronze and a metallic / frosty finish. This really brightens up the eye & helps you look wide awake and fresh. This is so pretty worn all over the lid and the pigmentation is intense & lasts all day long. You can put a primer on beforehand if you have oily lids or if you just want to make extra sure it’s not going to budge. These have a lovely rich creamy texture that as I said is very easy to blend. It’s not overly shimmery so can still be worn during the day, I would say it’s more metallic than shimmery – it’s not glittery at all. I’m seriously impressed with these for £3.

Shell – This is a light pink with a gorgeous yellow toned champagne colour which again is pretty all over the lid or as an inner corner highlight, this colour really adds brightness to the eye & opens it up. These long wear shadow sticks are incredible quality and the packaging is sleek and looks a lot more expensive than £3. They do start to crease a little on me after about 5 hours of wear, but I do have quite crinkly eyelids & I just blend it out with my finger & that does the trick.

If you have access to a larger Tesco that sells Barbara Daly then get yourself down there & grab a couple of these, you won’t be disappointed. I’m heading back to get the darker black shade as I think that will be so good for an easy smokey eye.
