Five Skincare Favourites Jan 2014

Skincare

Soap & Glory Pulp Friction – One of my favourite Scrubs, I love how smooth this leaves my skin, I use this mostly on my legs and they always feel silky smooth. I like the packaging of this as it’s easy to squeeze out in the shower, I like it more than a tub. I find it cleaner and more hygienic.

Botanics Radiant Youth Microdermabrasion Polish – This is a thick almost paste like product with very small exfoliating scrubby beads in. I use this once a week so remove dead skin and keep my skin feeling and looking bright and healthy. I bought this on a whim and have been pleasantly surprised. This 125ml tube is lasting forever.

Nuxe Gentle Exfoliating Gel* – This is one of the most gentle (as the name suggests) exfoliators I have used. I like to use this in the morning once or twice a week as it leaves my skin feeling unbelievably soft and healthy looking. After use it feels like I’ve used a moisturiser its that soft & smooth. The exfoliants are 100% botanical & are made up of Extracts of Lychee Seed, Nutshell Powder, they are quite fine but do a good job at removing dead skin. This is perfect at keeping the skin looking healthy and fresh. You have to try it.

balance Me Super Toning Body Wash – This is a real grown up shower gel and I love it. I have spoke about it before, but it leaves my skin so soft and hydrated. I normally go through shower gel so fast but this lasts me a good amount of time, I don’t feel the need to use loads of product, as a small about does the job. I do like to use this when I shave my legs as it’s hydrating.

Pixi Glow Tonic – almost all gone (cries). I have loved having this as part of my skincare routine and think it has helped keep my skin brighter and blemish free this winter. This is a great chemical exfoliator with Glycolic Acid. This product breaks down and removes the dead skin to keep your skin looking bright and radiant. It is alcohol free which means it doesn’t dry your skin out. This bottle has lasted me since May & I use almost daily. I saw they have changed the packaging, not a fan of the new bottle, I love the pump on mine as I get just enough product with 2 pumps and nothing it wasted. I’m going to clean out this bottle and reuse it.

I’m very happy that you’re able to buy the Pixi Glow Tonic online now – although it’s not in stock very often. I suggest that when its available you stock up. I know I will be.

Mendill Organic Towelettes / Wipes

Organic Mendill Towelettes

These Mendill Towelettes* are pretty damn good, I’ve been using them on the days I don’t wear makeup just to freshen up & keep my skin clean and hydrated. I work from home so tend not to wear makeup day to day and these handy wipes are perfect to have on my desk / handbag and use when my skin is feeling a little dehydrated (bloody central heating) or just in need of an afternoon freshen up.

Mendill Pure Organic Wet TowelettesMendill Wipes

These towelettes are certified Organic and smell incredible, this also makes them so refreshing. They’re also made using Organic Cotton and Organic Essential Oils. Mendill pride themselves on being Cruelty Free and their products contain no parabens, chemicals, preservatives or fragrance.

You get 20 individually wrapped wipes in a box, the fact that they’re individually wrapped means that each wipe stays fresh, clean and won’t dry out & you can just throw a couple in your bag for keeping clean on the go. Great for travelling.

Mendil Towelettes are available in 5 scents,

Tangerine : Tangerine can be attributed to its properties like antiseptic and calming. This wonderfully sweet, fresh and citrusy oil is thought to promote happiness, and help with nervousness and anxiety.

Lemon : Lemon Oil can be attributed to its detoxifying, antiseptic, disinfectant and antifungal properties. Lemon oil is rich in vitamin C, a necessary component to healthy skin care and wellnes

Orange : Orange Oil has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic qualities which promotes joy and happiness. The natural disinfectant qualities of orange oil also make it useful for cleaning and treating scratches

Eucalyptus : Eucalyptus Oil has anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties and acts like a disinfectant. Eucalyptus is well known to give relief from sinus infections, blocked nose, common cold, bronchitis and flu.

Lavender : Lavender Oil is a natural antiseptic, antibacterial and detoxifier which encourages healing and cleaning. Lavender is known to purify the body and spirit with its scent. It is an essential oil that soothes, calms, heals and regenerates.

These towelettes have so many recommended uses from massaging the lemon one on your forehead for helping concentration, place in the dryer for an all natural dryer sheet, clean baby’s bottom and prevent diaper rash, the Eucalyptus one can be smoothed over sunburn to cool and heal – and the list goes on. These wipes really are multi use.

I’m a big fan and will be treating myself to a box of the Lemon ones.

Origins Dr Weil Mega Bright Eye Cream

Darkcircleminimiser

Origins Dark Circle Minimizer

Harvard-trained medical doctor and botanist Andrew Weil has again teamed up with Origins to develop this new Mega-Bright Dark Circle Minimizer*. Origins say this eye cream will  ‘keep your eye area looking bright and also helps strengthen fragile, dry eye skin to help the appearance of darkness from circling back’. I have to say I agree 100%.

Origins Eye Cream

This Origins eye cream has a thick creamy feel to it, the consistency reminds me of the Kiehl’s creamy eye treatment with avocado. I’ve been using this mostly in the morning, as I said it’s quite thick and is nice to apply, it gives you an instant feeling of hydration. As soon as you put this on your under eye area feels smooth and looks luminous and fresh. Perfect if you have dehydrated under eyes.

It works as a really good base for concealer as its so rich and my concealer sits really well on top of it. It stops any creasing and keeps the area hydrated all day. This cream is packed full of skin benefits such as,

  • White Peony for its anti-oxidant properties
  • Ume, from the fruit of the Japanese Plum Blossom tree, to help minimise the dark circles
  • Grapefruit to help reduce puffiness
  • Magnolia Extract works to tighten and strengthen the delicate under eye skin
  • Molasses for brightening & evening skin tone

You only need a small amount of this cream and it is easily absorbed and keeps the skin feeling soft throughout the day. I would say my under eye looks brighter (which makes me happy), but I think I also have my cleaner diet to thank for that. I have been eating more fresh fruit and vegetables this year so I’d say a good diet, combined with this Origins cream are making a good team. I’m hoping that as I continue to use the Mega-Bright Dark Circle Minimizer for a second month I see even more results and a reduction in discolouration.

It is a lovely addition to my skincare regime and I think this pot is going to last me quite a while. So if you’re someone that needs help keeping the dark circles at bay, puffiness to a minimum and longs for brighter under eyes then this Origins Mega-Bright Dark Circle Minimizer is a must for you.

Naked Detox 2 in 1

Naked Detox 2 in 1 Shampoo & Conditioner

I have fairly long naturally wavy hair and I use quite a lot of products to keep my waves looking healthy and give it some bounce so about once a week I like to use a clarifying shampoo to get my hair back to basics and give it a deep clean and rid it of any buildup

This past month I’ve been using the Naked Detox Peppermint & Sorrel Leaf 2 in 1 Shampoo & Conditioner* This is targeted at removing the build up of dirt caused by pollution and the build up of products over time. It is gentle on my scalp which can be quite sensitive and this feels like it really cleans and takes my hair back without drying it out or being too harsh & stripping all its natural oils.

When I have used this my hair feels clean, glossy and my waves are light and have natural bounce without being weighed down. Its easy to style and looks healthy. I love that this is a 2 in 1 product and I don’t feel the need to add extra conditioner after using this as it doesn’t strip my hair. When I use this I am super fast in the shower, I might get a few more 2 in 1 products for speedy showering.

This has a fresh scent almost like cut grass, I can’t smell the peppermint too much, the scent isn’t the best but it’s not overpowering & it gets the job done well, so I can’t complain. Naked pride themselves on being Cruelty Free and this product is 97% natural, no parabens, SLS or petrochemicals so it’s ticking all the boxes.

If you want a clarifying shampoo that’s gentle and will leave your hair clean & light, then this is for you.
