SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex

If your a beauty addict (like me) then trying new brands is always exciting. I had never heard of SheaMoisture before but when I did a little research into the brand I realised that its extremely popular over in the States and has been sold since 1912. Their ranges have won quite a few awards over the years, including an Allure Readers Choice Award 2015. So lets see if it lives up to the hype.

Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex Haircare

SheaMoisture products are ‘natural, organic and sustainably-produced. Made with love for you and your body. Pioneering fair trade through Community Commerce at home and abroad. We strive to be sulfate free, paraben free, and more, whenever possible. Tested on our family for four generations. Never on animals’.

I was excited to try three products from the Superfruit Complex range which promises 10 in 1 benefits and they are,

  • Age-defy
  • Nourish
  • Anti-stress
  • Revive body
  • Colour protect
  • Shine
  • Hydrate
  • Strengthen
  • Manageability
  • Soften

Superfruit Complex 10 in 1 Multi Benefit Shampoo*

Because this shampoo contains no sulphates it doesn’t lather up which is great for your hair but it took me a few washes to get to grips with it. I initially used far too much which weighed down my hair, so you need very little product. I like to spend a minute or so massaging the product in to my hair letting all the wonderful ingredients work their magic before rinsing it out. Its a great first step to silky smooth hair & I like that this shampoo felt lightweight and it was easy to rinse out. I haven’t used it alone, I always follow with the conditioner.

Superfruit Complex 10 in 1 Conditioner*

This is great at giving hair a boost of hydration and restoring that glossy shine. I love that this bottle has a pump and wish that the shampoo came with one too! I use two pumps of this and work it in to my roots and use my wide toothed come to brush it through the ends, I leave it on for a couple of minutes then rinse. It leaves my hair feeling healthy, smooth and bouncy (I have naturally curly hair). When I style my hair after using this duo its glossy, manageable and it smoothes those pesky fly aways.

Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex Haircare

Superfruit Complex Multi Benefit Hair Masque*

I love using leave in conditioner treatment and this one is really pampering for your hair. I leave it on for as long as I can, usually about 30 minutes. The product is a lot thicker than the conditioner so I tend to use this masque once a week make sure to use a very small amount and take time to massage it in to your scalp. Once I rinse this off my hair instantly feels silky smooth and healthy. Its a great masque if you have dry, dull hair because this will bring back the shine. I think the masque is my favourite of the three products but I am very impressed with all of them.

All three products contain some really lovely ingredients,

  • Superfruit–a blend of red raspberry, ketones, goji, acai and guava extracts rich in anti-aging antioxidants
  • Marula oil–contains natural plant peptides that help support hair’s elasticity
  • Biotin–nourishes individual strands for thicker, stronger hair
  • Shea butter–deeply moisturises while conditioning hair and scalp

Some of the benefits you can’t say are having an effect after one month of use, such as anti ageing, anti stress or strengthening. I can say my hair is more manageable, hydrated, soft, shiny, nourished and has more body. So I guess this trio more than lives up to the hype. I now want to try a lot more from this brand, their selection is quite extensive and I have spied on the US site that they also have a makeup line. Now that excites me.

OGX Kukui Oil Shampoo & Conditioner

OGX Kukui Oil Haircare

OGX Kukui Oil Haircare

OGX Kukui Oil Shampoo & Conditioner

OGX is a brand I have used quite a few times & never been disappointed with a product. They seem to deliver on quality every time.

I’ve been using a new release from them for just over a month now & I’ve been excited to tell you all about it since the first use. The OGX Kukui Oil Shampoo & Conditioner* have been formulated to deliver hydration & eliminate frizz, sounds like a win-win to me! This range centres around the oil from the Hawaiian Kukui Nut Tree & the Hawaiians have been using the oil from this tree for centuries. It has so many uses such as waterproofing wooden goods & surfboards, soothing dry skin & burns and also as a hair oil.

This natural nut oil is so hydrating and locks in moisture as well as leaving the hair glossy and lightweight. Both the shampoo & conditioner are quite thick but they don’t weigh down the hair. I have been using these twice a week and my hair looks healthy and feels clean, bouncy and silky smooth. This is a great duo if you suffer from the dreaded frizz & flyaway hairs.

This range doesn’t strip your hair of its natural oils but instead protects the hair from free radicals & the elements locking in much-needed moisture. The essential fatty acids found in the Kukui Nut Tree also make it a wonderfully hydrating product for dry rebellious hair.

The shampoo does lather up nicely and both products are easy to rinse out. There is a scent to this range but it’s not too overpowering & I think it smells quite sweet and calming.

You get a lot of product for your money (385ml in each bottle), a little goes a long way so they will last a very long time. I will say that they’re best used as a duo as the conditioner just adds that glossy sheen to the hair and makes it look so much more healthy. These are both SLS free & ideal if you’re looking for a gentle (if you have a dry or irritable scalp) but effective shampoo & conditioner.

Let me know if you have tried this Kakui Oil range from OGX or if you have any other recommendations for this brand.

OGX products are available from Waitrose & they’re currently 1/3 off

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Haircare

Palmers Haircare Range

Palmers Haircare

I love coconut scented products, they smell like Summer in a bottle and who doesn’t want to be reminded of sunny days & beach holidays? I never knew Palmer’s had a haircare range (where have I been living?), for me, they’re best known for their Cocoa Butter products & I’m a huge fan of this range and in particular, their gradual tanner which is just the perfect tan in a bottle.

So after experiencing great results and quality with their body products I had high expectations for this Coconut Oil Haircare range and I’m happy to say it did not disappoint. I have been trying 3 products from the range.

Palmers Haircare Range

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Conditioning Shampoo*

This shampoo is great for giving your hair a deep clean without leaving you with that dry stripped feeling, it’s very hydrating and nourishing and of course smelling amazing. This range contains Pure Polynesian Coconut Oil (gives you healthy, strong, glossy hair), Vitamin E (to help protect dry ends) and Keratin (smooths hair and tames frizz) so all these wonderful ingredients are going to strengthen your hair & eliminate frizz whilst keeping it glossy and healthy.

It is also gentle enough to be used on colour treated, relaxed, pressed or overstyled hair. So if you have damaged locks this might be a good range for you. My hair is coloured and I found this didn’t fade my colour at all but instead left it looking very glossy and manageable.

You also get 400ml of product which will last months! Also, the coconut scent in all 3 of the products I tried smells natural and not at all synthetic.

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Repairing Conditioner*

Together with the shampoo, this conditioner from the same range is so good at giving your hair that smooth, frizz-free look. I have quite unruly curly hair and this gives my hair body without the frizz which is exactly what I want. Like the shampoo, this contains Pure Polynesian Coconut Oil, Vitamin E, Keratin but this also has Panthenol to help smooth your hair and fight frizz, it works like a dream. It also strengthens and seals hair cuticles.

Palmers recommend leaving this on your hair for 5 minutes to give your hair an intensive treatment and I like to do that once a week. It leaves my hair feeling silky and soft. Its a great addition to your Sunday evening pamper session.

Palmers Haircare

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Curl Condition Hair Pudding*

This is a leave-in conditioner/treatment for curly hair, it’s quite an odd texture and feels a little like putting whipped cream in your hair. You apply this product to damp hair from root to end and comb it through. If you have curly hair and want your curls to look bouncy, healthy and eliminate frizz then this might be the ideal product to add to your hair care routine. I have to say this product works best for me not applied directly to my roots but more to the lengths of my hair. Otherwise, my hair gets greasy too quickly (I only like to wash my hair every 2 – 3 days).

Like the shampoo and conditioner this contains Coconut Oil & Keratin but it also has some other great ingredients such as Avocado Oil, Aloe, Shea Butter, Jojoba Seed Oil, Macadamia Seed Oil and Sweet Almond Oil to help tame frizz and keep your curls looking and feeling their best.

What I like about all the products I’ve been trying from this range is that my hair feels stronger and much more manageable. They all work well together although I don’t use the hair pudding as often as the shampoo and conditioner. So if you have naturally curly, wavy or frizz-prone hair, then you should check out this range and let me know what you think.

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula is Alcohol, Sulphate and Paraben Free & smells AMAZING!

Let me know what haircare you have been loving.

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Haircare Range is available to buy from Superdrug, FeelUnique and at select Sainsbury’s.

Apivita Propoline Shampoo Review

Apivita Shampoo

Apivita is a Greek brand known for their skincare but I never knew their range incorporated hair care. I have been testing out an Almond and Honey Shampoo from their Propoline range since Christmas.

Propoline Shampoo For Dry-Dehydrated Hair

This shampoo is 90% natural and this formula is aimed at nourishing and hydrating  dry – dehydrated hair. It contains honey, aloe vera, almond & olive oil and wheat protein it also contains Rosemary infusion to offer antioxidant, toning, antiseptic and anti-irritant action. These ingredients also give hydration, prevent split ends and shield against environmental damage. Since using this I have noticed my hair has a lovely glossy sheen to it and it feels soft to the touch. It is easy to wash out but does contain SLS so foams up to a lather, It has a sweet smell  (which is very nice) and the formula is quite thin in consistency.

Apivita Shampoo

The only gripe I have is the packaging it looks pretty but when you get down to the last few uses it is so hard to get out when you’re in the shower, hands are wet and you have to turn it upside down and hit it like a ketchup bottle. It’s a bit of a pain. If they added a pump the packaging would be perfect. The shampoo itself is good quality and I think it actually works, I haven’t noticed if it helps with split ends but it certainly hydrates and quite often I don’t use a conditioner when I use this as I feel like it gives my hair enough moisture that I can miss that step out (and that makes me quicker in the shower = more time in bed).

This 250ml has only just ran out & it lasted me over 3 months using it at least twice a week. So that is pretty good in my book.

Free of: silicones, mineral oil, propylene glycol, ethanolamines, colorants, phthalates, polycyclic musks and nitromusks

Let me know if you have tried any Apivita shampoos, I have liked using this one & would recommend it to anyone that has dry, dehydrated or even dull hair.
