OGX Kukui Oil Shampoo & Conditioner

OGX is a brand I have used quite a few times & never been disappointed with a product. They seem to deliver on quality every time.

I’ve been using a new release from them for just over a month now & I’ve been excited to tell you all about it since the first use. The OGX Kukui Oil Shampoo & Conditioner* have been formulated to deliver hydration & eliminate frizz, sounds like a win-win to me! This range centres around the oil from the Hawaiian Kukui Nut Tree & the Hawaiians have been using the oil from this tree for centuries. It has so many uses such as waterproofing wooden goods & surfboards, soothing dry skin & burns and also as a hair oil.

This natural nut oil is so hydrating and locks in moisture as well as leaving the hair glossy and lightweight. Both the shampoo & conditioner are quite thick but they don’t weigh down the hair. I have been using these twice a week and my hair looks healthy and feels clean, bouncy and silky smooth. This is a great duo if you suffer from the dreaded frizz & flyaway hairs.

This range doesn’t strip your hair of its natural oils but instead protects the hair from free radicals & the elements locking in much-needed moisture. The essential fatty acids found in the Kukui Nut Tree also make it a wonderfully hydrating product for dry rebellious hair.

The shampoo does lather up nicely and both products are easy to rinse out. There is a scent to this range but it’s not too overpowering & I think it smells quite sweet and calming.

You get a lot of product for your money (385ml in each bottle), a little goes a long way so they will last a very long time. I will say that they’re best used as a duo as the conditioner just adds that glossy sheen to the hair and makes it look so much more healthy. These are both SLS free & ideal if you’re looking for a gentle (if you have a dry or irritable scalp) but effective shampoo & conditioner.

Let me know if you have tried this Kakui Oil range from OGX or if you have any other recommendations for this brand.

OGX products are available from Waitrose & they’re currently 1/3 off

OGX Tea Tree & Mint Shampoo and Conditioner

I don’t switch up my shampoo & conditioner that often as I have quite dry, frizzy generally unmanageable hair and when I find a duo that works I stick to it, but when these bright green bottles landed on my doorstep I was intrigued. Organix now known as OGX is a brand I have seen before &  I’ve read quite a few good reviews of their Moroccan Argan Oil range. I have been trying these two for a month now and thought it was high time I shared my thoughts.

Organix Shampoo & Conditioner

The OGX Tea Tree & Mint shampoo & conditioner* new for Spring & Summer make a great duo, at first the Shampoo was a little drying but after a week of using it my hair felt hydrated and healthy but I do like to use them both together and think they work better that way. I see the best results after I follow up with the TeaTree Mint Conditioner.

These are both light green in colour which was a nice surprise and if like me you normally shower whilst you’re still half asleep the scent of these will wake you up, they have a real energising zingy minty scent perfect for early morning showers. They are a blend of Australian tea tree oils, moisturising milk protein and peppermint oils & together this duo left my hair glossy, smooth and smelling amazing. I also noticed my curls had a healthy bounce to them, but only if I used the conditioner too. This is a lovely final step especially if you like your hair to look silky smooth.

Organix Shampoo & Conditioner

If you have dry/thick hair these will be perfect for you as they add a boost of moisture and also strengthen your hair to minimise breakage. They’re also very gentle for the scalp. Think of them as a 3 in 1 treat for your hair as they hydrate, strengthen and give balance. These are sulphate free (best for locking moisture in), paraben free and cruelty-free. The shampoo doesn’t lather up a great amount but I find that it is easier to wash out, I leave the conditioner on for as long as I can, almost like a hair mask. Afterwards, I find my hair is very glossy (that’s my tip, try to leave it on for as long as you can).

These are big 385ml bottles and will last you ages, I try to only wash my hair every 3 days so even after 5 weeks I don’t think I have made a dent in these. I have also noticed my husband’s been sneakily using them (I can smell the mint wafting out of the bathroom), so if he likes it then they must be good.

OGX hair care (formally Organix) is available from www.waitrose.com for £6.99. They have a wide range of products to cater to your personal hair care needs whether your hair is – frizzy, straight, dry, oily, too fine, too thick or just in need of some TLC.

Tommy Guns Hair Care

My hair is the longest it’s ever been in my 34 years on the planet. I struggle to keep it looking healthy and manageable. It is naturally wavy with a slight curl and gets greasy very easily. Tommy Guns is a brand I have heard of & I use their Winter Dew Drops. I adore the way this product gives my hair a beautiful glossy sheen. I have blogged about them here.

I’ve been testing out the above Shampoo and Conditioner* combo and I have to say the fact that they are a nice plum and pink colour makes me very happy. These smell quite masculine and not sickly sweet. I find them both uplifting and great for a morning shower. I also like the packaging, I think the simple design looks sleek and they look great in my shower.

The Fig and Plum Shampoo is targeted for Frizzy & Unruly hair, this is my hair in a nutshell. This was lovely to massage in and didn’t lather up into a crazy foamy mess. I hate it when the shampoo is over foamy, it is also easy to wash out and requires minimal effort. It states that the Fig is to smooth and soften the hair and the Plum helps to enrich the hair leaving it more manageable. I would have to agree with that, my hair is left sleek and I have less flyaway strands, especially on the top where I tend to get major frizz. This shampoo did tame my frizz.

I also used the Conditioner from the same line and together they make quite the pair. The conditioner is Fig, Plum and Marshmallow. How amazing does that sound! This smells lighter than the Shampoo but still fresh and quite Autumnal, must be the Fig. In this conditioner, the Marshmallow is used to soothe and enhance the hairs elasticity and to help prevent breakage while the Fig & Plum help enrich the hair leaving it more manageable for styling.

Tommyguns Hair Care

When using these I was able to go 3 days without washing my hair. My hair didn’t go greasy as quickly as it normally does and I thought it looked glossy while my curls had quite a bounce to them. These have been a pleasure to use and my husband has also used them and liked the shampoo in particular.

They also have Pomegranate and Orange / Blueberry and Ginseng / Jasmine and Wild Nettle / Sage and Basil / Bergamont and InulaI like the sound of Pomegranate and Orange, it sounds very festive. Tommyguns online.

Both the Shampoo and Conditioner are £5.50 for 250ml
