I have fairly long naturally wavy hair and I use quite a lot of products to keep my waves looking healthy and give it some bounce so about once a week I like to use a clarifying shampoo to get my hair back to basics and give it a deep clean and rid it of any buildup
This past month I’ve been using the Naked Detox Peppermint & Sorrel Leaf 2 in 1 Shampoo & Conditioner* This is targeted at removing the build up of dirt caused by pollution and the build up of products over time. It is gentle on my scalp which can be quite sensitive and this feels like it really cleans and takes my hair back without drying it out or being too harsh & stripping all its natural oils.
When I have used this my hair feels clean, glossy and my waves are light and have natural bounce without being weighed down. Its easy to style and looks healthy. I love that this is a 2 in 1 product and I don’t feel the need to add extra conditioner after using this as it doesn’t strip my hair. When I use this I am super fast in the shower, I might get a few more 2 in 1 products for speedy showering.
This has a fresh scent almost like cut grass, I can’t smell the peppermint too much, the scent isn’t the best but it’s not overpowering & it gets the job done well, so I can’t complain. Naked pride themselves on being Cruelty Free and this product is 97% natural, no parabens, SLS or petrochemicals so it’s ticking all the boxes.
If you want a clarifying shampoo that’s gentle and will leave your hair clean & light, then this is for you.

As much as I try to step outside of my comfort zone and try wearing some colourful eyeshadows I just feel a little 80’s. I don’t posses the skills needed to make fun eyeshadows work, they end up looking like a mess. So I always retreat back to my beloved neutral shadows where I am comfortable. I thought I would share with you a few of my favourite Neutral Palettes.
So first up is the Vivo Colour Block Unprotected Palette – This has 12 shades and has a good mix of matte & more shimmery shades. You will need to wear a primer with these shadows for them to last throughout the day. I have worn every shade in this palette but I especially like the 2nd row, that has seen alot of love. This Vivo palette is a bargain and you can pick it up for £3.99 in their online store
Wet n Wild Comfort Zone Palette $4.99 – This is one amazing palette. The shadows are very pigmented and soft, they are easy to apply and blend. There are no matte shades in this palette but it does have pretty metallic and shimmery colours. You get eight shades in this palette and once again every shade is wearable. I haven’t used the light green as much as the other shades but I have worn them all at some point. The left hand side shades get the most wear & in particular the 2nd shade from the top I wear all over the lid on days I want to wear as little makeup as possible. It’s like a rose gold shade and is very pretty. This is an American Brand, but often you can find it on Amazon or eBay.
Naked 1 Palette – Since my collection has grown this old faithful doesn’t get as much love as it used to. Its such a trusty palette and you can achieve so many looks with it. You get 12 shades and I love all of them apart from Creep, which I never seem to wear. I love Smog & Toasted the most out of the twelve shades. You get two good matte shades a few metallics and some shimmer so a little something for everyone. Now I’ve blogged about it I’m going to use it a little more and fall back in love with it.
BarryM Natural Glow Shadow & Blush Palette £6.49 – This is the newest addition to my palette collection and although it says it has a blush in, the blush is not good at all and I never use it. It is chalky and has very little colour pay off. The shadows on the other hand are nice. You get six eyeshadows and there are two good matte shades. There is a little fallout but nothing you can’t work around. I just wish the blush wasn’t in this palette.
Last up is the MUA Undress Me Too Palette £4 – This has 12 shades in and has been compared to the Naked 2 Palette, I don’t own that palette so can’t say if it holds up as a dupe but I love this palette. The packaging might feel a little cheap and plastic but it is thin and easy to travel with. I have never used the black shade but it is SO pigmented (it scares me). You get some good mattes and a mix of metallic finishes and shimmers. A primer is well worth using as these shadows are not the longest wearing and would benefit from a little help. Everytime I use this palette I can’t believe how little it cost. For £4 everyone should own this palette.
So they’re my 5 most used neutral palettes – I’d love to know if you have any favourites.
I have seen this tag going about the blogging sphere and in particular on The Sunday Girl Blog and I thought I would show you whats lurking in my shower. Nothing too exciting, but we all like to have a nosey right?!
CHANEL MOUSSE DOUCEUR Rinse-off Foaming Mousse Cleanser Balance + Anti-PollutionI’ve repurchased this a few times and that says a lot for me as I am always on to the next when something runs out. This is a hefty tube of cleanser it lasts the longest time. It normally lasts me around 3 months. I tend to use it in the morning. It’s like my little piece of luxury in the morning. There isn’t too must to say apart from I really like how this is gentle on my skin and leaves it feeling ready and fresh for the day. This cleanser is £29.00 for 150ml & I purchase mine from House of Fraser
Nivea Happy Time Shower Creamshower gel / body wash is something I never repurchase. I head for what ever is on offer. This Nivea one smells really citrus and fresh. I really like it. It’s on offer in Superdrug for 98p. It is very hydrating and leaves my skin feeling soft and smelling lovely.
Naked Bounce Curl Defining Shampoo & Conditioner* I have done a full review of this here if you’d like to read it. I like these as I wear my hair natural most days & that for me is wavy. These give my wavy hair a little extra help and leaves my hair looking healthy and bouncy.
Superdrug Vitamin E Exfoliating Body ScrubI’m a massive fan of exfoliation my legs. I don’t really tan so it’s not for that but I just like to get the blood flowing to them in the morning, wake them up and I like to get rid of all the dead skin. This utter bargain from Superdrug has become my favourite exfoliator. Its bursting with exfoliants and you get a great scrub for your money. I have stocked up on a fair few tubes. I urge you o give this a go. It doesn’t have a yummy scent like Soap and Glory but it is one hell of a good scrub. Its Superdrug’s own brand it’s £1.50 for 100ml
No7 Beautiful Skin Radiance Exfoliator this is just OK, If I’m honest I’m trying to use this up, but It is taking forever. I use a tiny bit once a week, mostly around my mouth and chin but it’s not the best product I’ve used. I picked it up with a No7 Voucher and wouldn’t buy it again. If the Boots search option worked on their site I would be able to link to the product. But it doesn’t (Shock Horror). But if you’re interested you can pick this up from No7 Counters for £8.00
If you have written a post like this post the link in the comments so I can have a look. Do you use any of the products I have mentioned? Let me know.
I was kindly sent these a few weeks ago to try. I’ve naturally wavy hair with a slight curl (often frizzy). I love to wear my hair natural and very rarely style it or straighten it. I like the messy wave look. You may say lazy look. So I was thrilled to give these a go.
Naked are a brand that pride themselves on being Vegan and Vegetarian friendly, I know this is important for alot of people. They’re also a natural brand with their products being up to 99.7% natural. The two I am testing are 97% natural and are free from parabens, SLS and petrochemicals only the good stuff is left in. You can read their mission statement here.
I found that these work better together. This isn’t always the case with hair care. They often say to use the corresponding shampoo & conditioner but often there is no need. With the Naked Curl Defining Range I found that my hair was alot more bouncy and less frizzy if I use both. If I used just the shampoo my hair would be glossy and wavy but my curls just weren’t as defined as when I used both the Shampoo and Conditioner.
Both products were lovely and not stripping in the least. In fact I found them nourishing. The Conditioner wasn’t too heavy, I think that’s why your curls are more bouncy as it doesn’t weigh your hair down and it’s really easy to rinse off. I’ve been going 3 days without washing my hair which is a first for me. These Naked products don’t coat your hair & make them greasy. They clean and nourish and the effects last a few days.
