Three Products I’m Loving

I use the same skincare and makeup products day-to-day. I seem to be in a bit of a routine with both. I thought I’d show you 3 products that I’ve been really enjoying using at the moment.

B. Pure Micellar Water

B. Pure Micellar Water – this is quite a new brand which is being sold in Superdrug they have a great range of skincare and makeup. I only picked this up to see how I got on & I’ve been using it for about a month now. I have tried various Micellar Waters over the past year and out of the ones I’ve tried this one from B. Pure is my favourite.

It is sold as a cleanser, but I have to say that I use this to remove most of my makeup, however I do use a cream cleanser and face cloth to remove the rest. This is a really refreshing cleanser it smells nice too, it smells fresh but I wouldn’t be happy just using this without washing my face too. I am happy I picked this up and will be repurchasing it when it runs out. You can buy it in Superdrug for £4.99

Tommy Guns Serum

Tommy Guns Weather Protect Dew Drops Serum * There is nothing I like more than to have glossy healthy looking hair, as I get older my hair seems to be more frizzy than glossy. I’m always on the hunt for great haircare products that keep my hair healthy and in good condition. This serum which I received in a goodie bag last year has been a god send during what I would say has been the coldest winter EVER!

A couple drops of this Tommy Guns Serum works magic, you run it through wet hair, I mostly put it through the length of my hair as if I put too much product on my roots my hair gets really weighed down and goes greasy quickly. This serum gives your hair such a fantastic glossy finish and leaves it so soft to the touch. I’ve also tried it on dry hair to manage frizz and to add a little shine (only a tiny amount) and that works great too. This 50ml bottle is going to last me years! You can buy this serum online for £6.50 for 50ml

Nivea Express Hydration Primer

Nivea Express Hydration Primer – The beauty world seems to have gone primer mad this past year and I was pleased to see a high street brand release a really good one. With this being a great price I use it everyday under my base and find it to be lightweight and hydrating. It works well to make my foundation last all day. It not only lasts it helps keep my skin hydrated. Not a huge amount to say about this other than I like it and its a great budget primer.

Nivea have released two of these, the one I have is for Dry & Sensitive Skin and the other is for Normal / Combination Skin. £4.99 for Superdrug

What have you been loving so far this year?

* I was kindly given the Tommy Guns Serum to try. But the review is 100% my own.

LP Skin Therapy

LPskin1

I think I’m very late to this party as I’d never heard of LP Skin Therapy before but after doing a little research I discovered that it is a very popular brand with an excellent skincare range. It was founded by Dr Linda Papadopoulos PhD a highly respected Psychologist with 14 years experience as a Research Scientist and as a practising Psychologist – she has done a lot of research on the links between mind and skin and the real effect our emotional state and life’s stresses have on our skin.

I have to say that this brand and their stance on mind and skin has really hit home to me. We’re aware that our diet affects our skin and health and the sun can often have a negative effect on how we age. But we sometimes overlook the emotional stress we’re under and the negative effects it can have. LP Skin Therapy headed up by Dr Linda Papasopoulos really looks into this emotional and psychological stress on your body its called Psycodermatology. ‘Psychodermatology takes a psychological approach to skin disorders, recognising the role emotional stress can play in triggering these conditions and tackling the distress they can cause.’

OK so on to the products I’ve been trying. I was sent 4 products. Uplifting Facial Water*, Refining Lip Exfoliator*, Untired Eye Cream* & Overnight Replenish Cream* – these are part of the 6 Piece LP Skin Therapy Anti-Ageing Discovery Collection. It’s a great way to try a few products from this brand without having to spend on Full Sized items and is a great introduction to LP Skin Therapy range. It would also make a fantastic Mother’s Day Gift.

LP Skin Therapy

I loved the Untired Eye Cream and have used it twice a day for almost 2 weeks. I’ve noticed my under eye area is looking so much brighter and my dark circles are getting less visible. This cream contains Alpha Glucose Hesperidin – this ingredient helps encourage circulation under the eye to diminish dark circles (its working).  My concealer applies so well over the top of this cream as it’s non-greasy and I find my concealer doesn’t slip off or break down. It seems to make a good base.

In the independent tests carried out on the Untired Eye Cream, 80% of volunteers had a positive reduction in Dark Circles and 90% said their under eye area appeared to be more hydrated. I have to agree with this 100%. When my sample runs out I will be buying the Full-Size one as its hands down the best eye cream I have tried.

LP Skin Therapy

The Uplifting Facial Water has been either in my handbag or on my desk since I received it. I’m a big fan of Facial Sprays and always use one. The LP Skin Therapy one smells of Orange Blossom it is very refreshing and uplifting. It contains Aloe Vera & Hibiscus Extract to help soothe and calm the skin, this is perfect for me as I suffer from a little rosacea, my skin can often need a spritz to calm it down and leave it feeling cool and refreshed. I like the handy 50ml size that you get in the Anti Aging Discovery Collection as it is a great size for travel. Are you a fan of facial mists/toners? This has been a welcomed addition to my skincare. It will be perfect for those warm summer days.

The Refining Lip Exfoliator is very hydrating for a lip scrub. I’ve only used the LUSH Bubblegum one and it’s very different. This one has jojoba oil in which really leaves your lips feeling smooth and very hydrated. It’s like a lip scrub and a lip balm in one. It is not abrasive nor does it strip your lips of moisture. It has so many lovely ingredients like ‘Cocoa Butter, Vitamin E, Sweet Almond Oil, Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Volulip. Calming complex of Passionflower, St Johns Wort, Valerian, Verbena & Wild Yam’. It’s a handy product to have in your collection.

This lip exfoliator also has an added benefit, as it helps reduce fine lines around your lip and improve lip definition. I can often neglect that area and its good that this is like 2 benefits in one kind of product.

LP Skin Therapy

The last product is the Overnight Replenish Cream which I was reluctant to use as I’m a Bridesmaid at my best friends wedding this weekend and was worried that any major change in my skincare might break me out. I didn’t want to be a spotty Bridesmaid. I’m pleased to report that my skin has responded well to this cream and I found it lightweight especially for a night cream and I used it on top of my Hydralurion and so far I am liking the combination. Again like the Facial Water, this Overnight Cream helps to sooth the skin and minimise the signs of aging – at 35 I’m starting to see these signs and trying to keep them at bay!

I’m really pleased with the results I’ve seen from the Uplifting Eye Cream and I’ve enjoyed the Facial Water and the Lip Exfoliator. The Overnight Cream hasn’t won me over yet but there is still time. I would recommend trying something from this range if you haven’t already. Oh, & I have to say that I love the purple packaging.

* I was kindly sent these to try & the review is 100% my own.

My Lip Balm Stash

I picked up a cute glass vase to put my lip balms in. I thought at first it was going to be way to big, but I should’ve known I had a fair few lip products here and there to put in it. I like it – it sits on top of my dressing table and I can see them all instead of them being hidden in bags and tucked away in the draw. I’m attempting to get my makeup collection into some kind of order and I see so many people with the cutest storage ideas. I like things that are a little different and this vase was £4.50 & is perfect.

Lipbalm Stash

Lipbalm Stash

My tiles were a wedding gift from a friend they have a j & v on for John & Vicki. I like to put my jewellery on them as they stop my dressing table getting scratched. I also have a thing for birds and this one is from Malta – I love it, it’s so pretty.

Lib balm collection

Now on to my Lip Balms

I love the Maybelline Baby Lips & have heard on the blogger grape-vine that these are finally coming to the UK. This makes me so happy. I have 2 that I received in a blogger swap and they smell amazing. They are also a great lip balm and I find them super hydrating. I have the flavours Coral Crush and Twinkle.

Burt’s Bees lip balms are so good. I’ve been known to have one of these in every handbag & its the only lip balm my hubby will use & I can vouch that he has soft kissable lips (too much information?). My fave one has to be the pomegranate oil one. Its soothing and smells divine.

My tin of Smith’s Rosebud Salve has lasted my a while and is still going strong, it is quite like Vaseline and works pretty well at keeping my lips hydrated. I picked up this tin in American Apparel but you can get it online here for £8. As with quite a few lip balm products this can be used on chapped skin, minor burns and general skin relief.

eos lipbalms are cute in their fun packaging. Some people don’t rate them, but I like them, thy keep my lips smooth and they smell so good. They’ve such a great selection of flavours / scents and are 95% organic and 100% natural. They’re also paraben and petrolatum free and have vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil in them.

Figs & Rouge this company have really nice packaging and the product inside is great too. They use 100% natural ingredients and are free from parabens and mineral oils. They too have a huge range. I have the Cherry and Vanilla one and I love it. I want to try the Pomegranate one next.

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream* – This is a miracle worker and I use this at night mostly as I tend to wake up with such dry lips. This leaves them so hydrated and when I wake up I can still feel the product on my lips. This is a handy size as I can take it with me on the go & It has been in my bag with me all winter. Again this is a product which has so many uses. So is great to have in your collection.

LP Skin Therapy Refining Lip Exfoliator* – This has tiny beads of  jojoba oil which gently polish your lips. I have been using the LUSH Bubblegum lipscrub which I like but this one is different. I like the jojoba oil as it leaves my lips so soft and smelling amazing (kiss anyone). This also has alot of other great ingredients in like Vitamin E, Sweet Almond Oil and Cocoa Butter. So your lips are getting some great treatment.

Korres Wild Rose Lip Butter – this is such a lovely brand. I have tried a few things from them but I really like their Lip Butters. This Wild Rose one is so nice now that we are heading into Spring. It has a really nice tint to it, its perfect for a hint of colour when you’re going for a fresh-faced look.

Do you have a collection of lip products. They are just so easy to pick up when your shopping and we have had quite the cold winter so my lips have needed some TLC. What do you store yours in? Id love to know.

Morning Skincare Routine

I’m a complete skin care junkie and seem to purchase something new every week. I’m now in my mid 30’s and my skin has undergone a massive change. Some things age related but some also through stress. I’ve come to realise your skin doesn’t like constant changes to its routine. Small ones are OK but to keep testing out cleansers and moisturisers every month is doing me no favours

So I decided to find those products that work for me and stick to them. My skin has been feeling and looking really dull and not as vibrant and glowing as it used to be. So I’ve been looking for products that help my skin to look plump and more youthful.  These are the products I have been using in the morning. Most of them I am really happy with but it’s always a case of trial and error.

Morning Skin Care Routine

Yes to Cucumbers Cleanser this is the first product I have tried from any of the Yes to ranges. I picked it up in London last year and it took me ages to get round to using it. I am really impressed with it, it leaves my skin feeling clean without being dry and tight. I have sensitive skin on my cheeks and this doesn’t aggravate that at all. I want to try a few more things from the cucumber range, especially the Soothing Eye Gel.

Yes To Cucumbers

Boots Botanics Rosewater Toner this is a hefty bottle & it’s my second one. I’m not 100% sold on it though. I was bought the second bottle for Christmas. I love face sprays and have tried a few. This one is good at hydrating my skin throughout the day. I also spray a little before applying my serum and moisturiser in the morning. If truth be told I think my heart belongs to the LUSH tea tree toner. I love that.

origins Make a Difference

Origins Make A Difference Skin rejuvenating treatment lotion – I don’t use this very morning, I try to use it 3 times a week. It helps to leave my skin feeling really hydrated and clean before I apply my serum. I find that my red cheeks aren’t as aggravated when I use this and thats good during the winter when my skin is a little drier. I have said before that my skin can look a little dull at times and this lotion helps to make it look healthier and fresh. I also really like that this lotion helps improve the appearance of damage done by UV and environmental exposure and UV damage is something I worry about.  This will cost you £18 for 150ml (my bottle was part of a gift set so is a smaller 50ml bottle)

AVON Anew Clinical PRO Line Eraser Treatment – A-F-33 Never have I used an eye cream which makes my eyes sting as much as this one! It’s not good. I am just using it up and won’t repurchase. This eye treatment had rather big promises and I can say they haven’t delivered for me. I still have fine lines and can’t say I have seen any improvements in my under eye area at all. I bought this whilst it was on offer at Avon so think it was half price. I’m loathed to bin it so am using it up and am hoping it runs out sooner rather than later. Have you used this? Let me know if it made your eyes sting & water like a tap. Not impressed & I have loved  quite a few things from Avon so was quite disappointed with this. I guess the search for the perfect eye cream continues. This will cost you £11.50 for 15ml

Hydraluron

Hydraluron – Ok I know this has become a blogger favourite since it was in Caroline Hiron’s Hall of Fame, I just had to try it. I have to tell you I absolutely love this. I have been using it morning and night for a little over 3 weeks & have just started using it in the morning only. I gave my skin a bit of an intensive course of this and have seen great results. About a year ago I had a huge stressful family related event & my skin really took a turn for the worse. I felt my skin looked dull and I felt like I’d aged 10 years. This Hydraluron along with some major diet changes has given me back my pre stress skin. I am thrilled with how rejuvenated my skin looks and how my cheeks especially look more healthy and glowing rather that dull & full of rosacea.

I’m sure you’ve all tried this product but if not what are you waiting for? Caroline’s word is Gospel as far as I’m concerned so go & buy it!!! I don’t think I’ve EVER been as excited about a skin care product. Its love. You can buy it from Boots for £24.99 worth every penny.

Origins Make a Difference

Origins Make a Difference Skin Rejuvenating Treatment I havent been using this too long – maybe 2 weeks but I like it so far. It’s quite a lightweight moisturiser and I find it works well under my foundation as it smooths my skin out. It does leave my skin looking bright and is a great moisturiser. I need all the moisture I can get in the winter. I will do a better review of this when I have used it a little longer. But so far my skin is responding well to this. £33.00 for 50ml

Have you used any of the products in my morning skin care routine? Do you have any good recommendations for me?
