On a Whim

Whilst in Amsterdam this August I popped into the Yves Rocher Store because I’d forgotten my makeup remover so needed to pickup another one. I decided on this Micellar Cleansing Water. I’ve previously used the ETAT PUR Micellar Water and used that all up and really enjoyed it. So was excited to try another Cleansing Water.

This is my first purchase from Yves Rocher and I have to say their stores are really nice. Very well laid out and a pleasure to browse in. For some reason I didn’t realise they sold makeup too. I swatched a few things and they were really nice. I will be picking up a few things next time I’m in.

Micellar Cleansing Water

This cleanser is really effective in taking off my makeup. I never wear what I would call heavy makeup but I do wear id say an average amount and this had no trouble in taking it off. I wouldn’t say it has a strong scent to it I thought it smelt refreshing and clean. I only use this for my face as I use the Simple eye makeup remover as that always works well for me.

This Yves Rocher Cleansing Water is really gentle on the skin and you only need to lightly sweep it across your face. It claims to reveal younger looking skin. I don’t know about that. My skin has been looking a little off these past few months due to stress and lack of sleep so I can’t say this has made much difference to that. What I can say is that It leaves my skin feeling soft and makeup free before I wash with my cream cleanser. So it does the job for me.

I like products that I use on my face to be really gentle as I have really sensitive cheeks and this Micellar Water is gentle and removes every last trace of makeup. It is also uses botanical based ingredients so its great for your skin and has 3 teas as its main base – Green Tea extract, White Tea extract and Madagascar Tea extract. It also has Organic Chamomile Water and Musk Rose Oil in it, so these are all really nice calming ingredients. I really recommend if you like Micellar Waters to try this one

You can order it from Yves Rocher online for £10.50 – 200ml

My love for bubblegum

LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub

I picked this up after so many recommendations, I know I’m late on this bandwagon. My lips are generally dry and not great for lipsticks. I find the skin partially on my bottom lip to be flakey, esp in the drier months. So heading into Autumn and the colder days I thought it was high time I picked up a pot of this lip scrub to see what all the fuss was about.

LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub

Well blow me down with a feather – is this not just a little pot of magic. First off it smells & tastes AMAzing!! That’s a fact. Now we can’t judge on smell and taste alone otherwise this wouldn’t be beauty related. But it does smell so nice, Bubblegum flavour is heavenly.

I put this on my lips before bed and give it a good rub with my finger and then smooth the rest in by rubbing my lips together. It feels odd but it really works. By morning my lips feel smooth. It’s weird being able to eat the excess scrub, but I like it.

LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub

This is one of those products you wish you’d been using all along. It now lives on my night stand along with all the other products I use before bed. It’s becoming quite a routine. I need to start coming to bed earlier and earlier! Please tell me I’m not alone in this & you all have a nigh-time routine that’s getting a little out of hand.

So my smooth lips now look a lot better with lipstick on – I’ve found that nude lipsticks look good on me now. These really used to show up my flakey lips & I never wore my Mac Hue lippy. These past few weeks I have really been enjoying it again. This Bubblegum Lip Scrub isn’t a fancy product nor an expensive one but it’s worked wonders on my lips and I shall be repurchasing this.

You can pick this LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub up from your local LUSH store or from their online store here for £5.25 you get 25g of product.

St Ives Body Scrub

St Ives Apricot Body Scrub

Ok so lets cut to the chase – I love a good body scrub & have used a fair few over the years. I have been happy with many of them but this purple pot has become my NUMBER 1! It’s my new favourite scrub.

I picked it up in Superdrug the other week, it was half price so I only paid £2.49 — that’s a bargain in my book. I’ve tried a St Ives face scrub before and didn’t really like that. I know some people love it but I wasn’t a fan. But this I’m a HUGE fan off.

This is packed full of pink exfoliating beads & a good amount too. So you get really smooth skin after. Some exfoliators I find don’t have enough beads in & so don’t leave my skin as smooth. It also is a lovely creamy texture which feels like its moisturising too. It smells lovely and fresh – not sweet but really creamy and clean (excuse my crappy explanation). So you get exfoliated & hydrated at the same time. Thats perfect for me.

This is a milder formula aimed at sensitive skin – I haven’t used the original formula so can’t say how this new differs. Other than it must be slightly more gentle being aimed at sensitive skin. I can say that this doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry or red. You don’t need to rub hard to get great results. I’m thrilled with this. I know it’s only a scrub but I’m very happy with it.

One Fantastic Body Lotion

I received this Burt’s Bees Naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Body Lotion in Organic themed Glossybox a few months ago & like most beauty bloggers I’ve so many body lotions on the go at any one time. So it was a while before I got round to testing this. It’s a 70g sample size and I took it away on my recent trip to Amsterdam and absolutely loved it.

I used it all week, twice a day and my skin was so soft. Even those extra dry patches you can get around your knees and the backs of your arms were lovely and soft after using this. It’s really nice and cool when you put it on and is very easy to rub in. I liked it because it didn’t sit on my skin and found it really sank in and left  it feeling hydrated and nourished. I’m so glad I took it with me. For such a reasonably priced lotion it feels really indulgent.

Now I can’t write a review on this without saying something about its scent because its SO nice. It smells amazing, so rich and fresh it was an absolute pleasure to use. The 70g tube I’ve isn’t full size but is still going strong even after 9 days of using it twice a day. Once it’s ran out I will be most defiantly pick up the full size which is 170g and costs £8.50 on Feel Unique. This is a must have product for me. My skin has never felt or smelt as good :o)

If your quick it’s on sale here for £5.49 with Free Delivery. That’s a big saving
