Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation

new releases from Lancome beauty

New Releases From Lancome Beauty

Last year I tried the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation and really liked the coverage & the finish so I was super excited to get the opportunity to test out their latest release, the revamped Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear. This liquid foundation is celebrating 20 years of success and along with a name change it also comes in a new frosted chic bottle and more excitingly Lancome have introduced more shades.

Before I get into the foundation I just want to mention the La Base Pro Hydra Glow*, (I have only used this once so far) it is a makeup primer which has a brightening pink tone and is designed to give your skin a beautiful radiance whilst keeping your makeup looking fresh all day / night. Unlike most primers this Lancome offering is formulated to have some fantastic skincare benefits too. It contains a :-

Cocktail blend of 14 actives, the Nourishing-sensation intensely hydrates, plumps, and continuously charges the complexion with moisture for rose petal smooth and healthy skin, perfectly prepared for the layering of foundations, with extend wear all day long.

Lancome Teint Idol Ultra Wear Foundation

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation*

This foundation has grown quite a following over the past 20 years and it is easy to see why. This liquid foundation offers that perfect lightweight formula which can easily be built up to give you that gorgeous full coverage finish. It is easy to go from a medium to a full coverage without applying too much product or having that heavy-looking finish. It has a semi matte, velvety smooth finish that never looks flat. It leaves your skin looking radiant and very healthy but don’t think because it is full coverage that it will look cakey because that is 100% not the case, you can tailor this foundation to your needs by building up the coverage when / where necessary.

I found applying this foundation with a damp sponge gave the best finish and coverage. A sponge allows me to apply less product and get flawless, even coverage. What do you like to apply your makeup with? sponge, brush or fingers?

What Makes The Difference?

  • Eternalsoft Polymer – allows increased comfort level with ultra‑long wear
  • NAI pigments – specially coated pigments maintain consistent pH level with skin, so colour stays true all day
  • Perlite and Silica – two of the most effective oil absorbing ingredients

I wear shade 025 Beige Lin which is the perfect match for my quite pale skin. This foundation is oil, fragrance and transfer free and has SPF15.

NEW Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation

To celebrate this foundation turning 20 Lancome have made it a lot easier to find your ideal shade by offering this foundation in 40 shades. So you can find the shade that matches your complexion, undertones and colouring perfectly. With Lancome’s larger palette of shades more skin tones are catered for and you can finally say goodbye to not being able to get hold of your perfect shade. I have been wearing a shade which is a great match for my skin whilst it isn’t tanned but I will need to wear a different shade when Summer comes.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation in 25 Beige Lin

For me this foundation ticks a lot of boxes. I like the coverage, finish, how comfortable it feels on my skin and the fact it doesn’t go greasy throughout the day.

You can either use the, Shade My Power Lancome Shade Finder to match your perfect shade or head to your nearest Lancome counter to be matched.

Books I’ve Read Jan – April 2017

books Ive read 2017

The Books I've Read in 2017

Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman

This is the second book I’ve read from Fredrik Backman and I have to say I was a little worried it wouldn’t live up to ‘A Man Called Ove’, which was my favourite read of 2016. I quickly realised Britt-Marie Was Here was going to be a wonderful read. It is about a lady who after decades of hiding away from the world has developed a strong belief of how certain things should be done. She takes a job in Borg, a very small, run down & neglected town in Sweden where she in fact discovers her self worth. Britt-Marie makes friends with people that challenge her, encourage her and even fall in love with her and in return she gives the entire town hope. This book evokes such a mix of emotions but ultimately it is a story of letting go of the past, rediscovering your dreams and letting people into your heart. I urge you to add it to your reading list.

A Boy Made of Blocks by Keith Stuart

I wasn’t so keen on this book – I found it frustrating at times. It is about a young couple whose son has autism and through trying to learn to cope and navigate through the early years of his life they have stopped communicating as a couple and live very separate lives. The dad also struggles to connect with his son and finds it difficult to understand his world. Through the videogame Minecraft comes a bit of a breakthrough which proves to be the catalyst that helps this family to communicate and appreciate a new side to their son. The Dad Alex also realises that he has been holding on to a lot of pain from his childhood and it is stopping him from moving forward in all aspects of his life. I know this is a bestseller and has been well received but I just found it to have so many Minecraft references that it got a little annoying.

The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd

This story is mainly set in South Carolina and centers around a young girl named Sarah Grimke whose family are very wealthy and much like most wealthy families in America at this time (1803) own quite a few slaves. It follows her defiance to accept her 13th birthday present which is in fact a slave girl of the same age as herself named Handful. Sarah educates herself to a level that is not usual or accepted amongst women in America at this time and she longs to be the first ever female judge but that is a dream beyond what society can allow. Sarah and Handful struggle to understand the world and how cruel it can be, but they both find the strength to make a difference. This is a book about ambition, loss, pain but ultimately on all sides it is about the need to be free.

I was surprised to learn this story is based upon the Grimké sisters who were in fact real-life abolitionists and in a way you could say early feminists. I read this book really quickly and I want to read more from Sue Monk Kidd.

The Little Paris Book Shop by Nina George

This is a story about love, loss and friendship. It is heartbreaking and heartwarming in equal measures and if you have a romantic soul like me then you will love this story. It is mostly set on board a book barge in the centre of Paris and that in itself was enough to make me purchase this book. I love that the main character, Jean Perdu, doesn’t let people pick their own books, he chooses their books for them almost like a prescription from a doctor. It follows his journey to try and mend his broken heart and you’re taken along for the very scenic ride. I 100% recommend adding this to your reading list for 2017.

Most Recent Books Read in 2017

Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult

This thought provoking novel doesn’t hold back, it brings to the forefront subjects and situations that are still very much part of the modern world.  It talks openly, honestly about racism, discrimination and  privilege in America. I don’t want to give too much away as the story is gripping from the get go but this one book that brings you face to face with some very hard hitting situations that make you feel uncomfortable at times.

All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood

I read this book without knowing anything about it – sometimes that is how you discover some incredible reads although I am not too sure I would class this as one of those. The main characters, Wavey & Kellen, I thought had a very uncomfortable story to tell. At times I really rooted for them but more often than not I was unsure how I should feel about their relationship. For me this was a heartbreaking read and I was left feeling the main character Wavy was let down by almost everyone. If you’re looking for quite a shocking, coming of age novel then add this to your reading list.

In Order to Live by Park Yeon-mi

I’ve watched a few documentaries about people that have escaped North Korea but this account from Park Yeon-mi was so hard hitting. I had no idea that her struggle was going to get so much worse once they’d fled North Korea. This true story follows Park’s desperate, poverty stricken life first living under the dictatorship of Kim Jong-il in North Korea then as her family attempts the dangerous journey into China. It is incredible just what the human spirit can overcome and Park’s account of what her family had to endure in North Korea and then as defectors of the regimes will stay with you for a long time.

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

This really reminds me a book I read last year called ‘All The Light We Cannot See‘ It is similar in that it is set first in Paris and then in rural France during the German Occupation of the Second World War. It follows two sisters that couldn’t be more different and we get to see the War from a female perspective. You get lost in the details and are quickly transported to the French countryside but the harrowing effects of the Nazi occupation are hard to ignore. The sisters are both trying to get through the War as best they can one desperate to make a difference and the other focused on staying safe. I sped through this and loved it just as much as I’d hoped, make sure you have a tissue to hand, as I think you will need it.

What have you been reading so far in 2017? Let me know if you read any of the books I have mentioned.

Current Mascara Line Up 2017

Current Mascara Line Up 2017

lancome hypnose doll eyes mascara

Lancome Doll Eyes Mascara

I have been loyal to Lancome mascara’s for years, although I usually opt for the Hypnose I felt like a change recently & I’ve been using the Hypnose Doll Eyes this year. 2017 is a year of makeup changes. It is different from the rest of the Lancome Mascara’s but in a very good way. This is a mascara that really opens your eye and fans out your lashes, it very much gives them that doll eyed look & I love it. The formula is quite dry and jet black, It is quite natural in that it’s not heavy or clumpy on the lashes and it gives a little drama but I wouldn’t recommend it if you like your lashes to look false. The wand is fantastic and the tapered end means you can get right in to the corner and apply mascara to even the shortest of lashes. So if you like fluttery, long, fanned out lashes then you need this Doll Eyes Mascara in your life, I am thrilled with it!

Essence Forbidden Volume Mascara

Essence Forbidden Volume Mascara

Essence Mascara’s are some of my favourites because they’re affordable and fantastic quality. I haven’t enjoyed this one as much as other mascaras I have tried from Essence but I do like that you can build it up to be quite dramatic. I found the formula to be a little wet and it transferred on to my eyelid. I do recommend checking out this brand if you haven’t already, their lipsticks, nail polish and face powders are incredible. Just maybe give this mascara a swerve.

Tarte Tarteist Mascara

Tarte Tarteist Mascara

I love the plastic wand on this mascara, it separates and lifts my lashes too. This formula won’t give you drama or too much volume but like the Lancome Doll Eyes it will give you long, pretty flirty lashes. This is a great daytime option & it also works well under other mascaras as a first step to more voluminous lashes. I liked this a lot more than their Better Than Sex offering. It lasts all day on me without flaking and it is epic at holding a curl too.

New Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara

Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara*

This new release from Rimmel features a first-to-market patented shaker system that refreshes the volumising formula and promises to extend the life of your mascara. I’m not 100% sold on either claim, I will have to test it out further to make up my mind. Off the bat I will say that the packaging is noticeably heavier than any other mascara I have owned, it is so weighty. I like the wand and find the bristles grab my lashes and lay down a lot of product quickly. The jet black formula does have fibres in and these do help give your lashes length but I am not overly impressed with the volume. The formula is quite wet too and I found it hard to get a clump free finish, especially when applying more than one coat. I prefer the Scandal Eyes Mascara from Rimmel but it is cool to see brands pushing the envelope, however this isn’t the mascara for me.

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Reloaded Mascara

Rimmel Scandaleyes Reloaded Mascara

The version I like out of the two Scandaleyes Mascaras is the Extreme Black one – I hate it when my mascara is not jet black and this version is super intense Black. The wand is perfect, big, tapered and the bristles work magic at giving your lashes volume like no other! This wand works the mascara in to every individual lash but without clumping them together, it lengthens and gives volume so it is an epic all round mascara. One of my favourite affordable mascaras for sure. Even with a few coats this doesn’t flake or weigh your lashes down, it has great staying power and of course I love the extreme black colour.

YSL The Shock Mascara

YSL The Shock Mascara*

This is the latest addition to my makeup bag and I am pretty excited about it. The packaging isn’t what I would have expected from YSL, it doesn’t look or feel as luxurious as the price tag but I am willing to overlook that because the product itself is amazing. The wand is quite long but not bulky, it gives volume and drama without having to apply layer upon layer. It does have a tendency to clump but if I apply whilst doing that magic trickery of wiggling the brush through my lashes it helps separate my lashes and ensure the product is applied from root to tip giving the ultimate high impact look. I love the jet black formula and think this is a fantastic mascara for evening and making the most of your natural lashes without the need to apply falsies.

What are your favourite mascara’s at the moment & have you tried any of the ones I have mentioned in my Mascara Line Up?
