5 From The Body Shop

The Body Shop Favourites

The Body Shop Favourites

I haven’t done a post in my Five From Series for a while now, so I thought I would get back into them and share Five From The Body Shop. This was so hard to narrow down because as a brand I love so many of their products and they continue to release wonderful products. If you have any recomendations of products I need to try from The Body Shop then leave me a comment.

The Body Shop All In One Insta Blur

I love products that give my skin that soft focus flawless finish & this Insta Blur does a pretty good job at doing that. Its has a thick gel like consistency and its easy to smooth over the skin. Its clear but it blurs imperfections redness and makes fine lines look less visible.  I tend to only use it on my cheeks, where I have quite large pores and it does a great job at blurring them out and mattifying my skin. This is also very good at controlling oil and shine so it works well under makeup and helps it last longer without going greasy.

Born Lippy Lipbalm

You can’t beat a fruity scented lipbalm from The Body Shop. These are such a classic product and I have been buying them for more years than I care to admit. They always smell so good, I think I have tried every flavour. They’re easy to have in your handbag to keep your lips feeling hydrated & they add a slight sheer wash of colour but that doesn’t stick around too long, but the glossy finish does.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil

I have used the Vitamin E range for many years and still go back to it, especially when my skin is irritated and quite dry. I find its a range that is gentle and never breaks me out. I spoke about this in a recent post, I have a lot of love for this serum / oil. Its an overnight treatment that gives your skin a boost of hydration and nourishes dull skin. Its a serum blended with a combination of oils including sunflower, jojoba, marula, soya, and sesame and it also has wheatgerm oil which is high in antioxidants. I only use a couple of drops, which is plenty & I like to use it when my skin is looking dull and feels dryer than normal. Its great at hydrating and reviving my skin and making it look like its well rested and radiant. Its just such a lovely product to have in your skincare routine.

The Body Shop Makeup Brushes

I have quite a few brushes from The Body Shop and although they’re not the most affordable on the high street they’re very good quality, cruelty free and last me years. This actually a foundation brush but I’ve found it works well at applying face masks, no mess and I get an even coverage. I also like the kabuki brush to apply loose powder. I get no shedding with these brushes and they wash up lovely.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Instant Glow Enhancer*

The whole Vitamin C range is a favourite of mine, the face mist, moisturiser and this Instant Glow Enhancer in particular. They all pep up my skin and make it look refreshed and radiant. It has a lovely flattering peachy tint to it, you see instant results with this product. It really helps combat the signs of fatigue, I apply this mostly to the centre of my face, focusing on my forehead, nose & chin as this is great at blurring pores and fine lines making my skin look smooth as well as giving it a slight peachy glow. I use it when my skin looks like it needs a little waking up, or at the weekend when I want to wear minimum makeup. My tube has lasted me almost a year and I still have a good amount of product left. So it is well worth picking up.

Pixi by Petra Skincare

Pixi Skincare Treats

I have used Pixi products for almost a decade and have watched them go from strength to strength. They’re a brand that always deliver not only wonderful makeup but their skincare is just as good. I am excited that Pixi is becoming easier to get hold of, gone are the days of having to call their London store for mail order (who remembers having to doing that?) You can now get hold of Pixi on HQ Hair and they carry a really good selection.

Pixi Glow Tonic*

This is such a cult product and was one of the first affordable, effective acid exfoliating toners. I have tried this and repurchased it on many an occasion. Glow Tonic is a toner which is so good for your complexion because it contains these great ingredients

  • 5% Glycolic Acid – Accelerates skin renewal and helps remove dulling skin dead
  • Aloe & Ginseng – Soothes skin
  • Witch Hazel – Will help firm and tone
  • Horse Chestnut – Boots blood flow for that radiant complexion

So this toner will remove dead skin leaving your complexion looking fresh and radiant whilst also soothing, firming and toning. This is quite the toner power house, I have already said how much I like this product in a few previous posts and I still feel the same. I usually use this in the evening and I think its also very good at helping to reduce scars and even out skin tone. This is a bargain and a bottle lasts me ages. Oh and if you’re worried about it being abrasive I’ve never had irritation after using it.

Pixi Glow Tonic and Cleansing Balm

Pixi Nourishing Cleansing Balm*

This is a luxurious feeling balm to oil cleanser and this type of balm cleanser has become really popular over the past couple of years. This is a gentle but effective way of removing your makeup and the grime that builds up on our skin throughout the day, it even removes stubborn eye makeup. You honestly need the tinniest amount of this, i’d say a 10p sized amount is perfect, make sure you take time to work this into your skin and really let the lovely ingredients work their magic,

  • Sweet Almond Oil – gently helps breakdown dirt and makeup and impurities so they don’t clog pores and cause skin to become dull.
  • Shea Butter – leaves skin soft, hydrated and feeling supple
  • Vitamin E – protects skin from environmental aggressors and helps reduce inflammation

You will need to remove this with a hot cloth, or the oil will leave a residue on your face. I love using a hot cloth cleanser, it means I remove all my makeup and my skin feels like I have had a mini facial. This Pixi Cleansing Balm really is nourishing on the skin and its great to see brands brining out such high quality skincare for affordable prices!

I have used the Glow Tonic for a few years now and think its a great product but if you made me pick my favourite I would recommend the Nourishing Cleansing Balm – there is nothing quite like removing your makeup and your skin feeling so clean and soft and this product was a complete pleasure to use. I Highly recommend adding it to your daily routine and a tub will last you months!

Merumaya Gentle Exfoliating Toner

Merumaya Gentle Exfoliating Toner

As most of you are aware British skincare brand Merumaya have been a favourite of mine for a while now, they’re always expanding their range with innovative and affordable products. The Gentle Exfoliating Toner is their latest offering and once again they have produced an affordable product that rivals even the more expensive brands.

Merumaya Gentle Exfoliating Toner* £17.50

I always like to use a toner as part of my skincare regime so I was very excited to start using this new Exfoliating Toner and see what the results were. The packaging is much like the rest of the Merumaya range which is simple and user friendly. The product itself is packed full of active ingredients some of which give immediate results and others that are more effective when used over a period of time, I have learned that skincare isn’t always about those instant gains but often about looking after your skin everyday in order to see longterm positive results.

I will let Merumaya explain the most scientific stuff,

  • Natural Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) to gently yet effectively peel away dead skin, detoxify, cleanse and refine pores to reveal fresh smooth skin. It contains a complex of moisturising active ingredients to prevent skin drying out after the exfoliation.
  • Natural AHA’s Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) are proven to act as exfoliants, loosening and removing the top layer of dead cells by decreasing corneocyte adhesion. This reveals the new skin cells below. Natural AHA Complex provides a superficial peel action resulting in an improved surface appearance for a fresher, smoother look to skin. AHAs help to remove dry skin and can be useful in treating blemished or problem skin, unblocking and cleansing pores.
  • Hyaluronic Acid is highly prized for excellent hydration which helps provide plumpness and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Natural Betaine is an osmoregulator manages water balance in skin cells. It can hold 1.6 times its own weight in water. It hydrates and softens the surface of skin resulting in a soft and even finish.

I found this toner to be very gentle despite their being acid in this product, so don’t be put off by that. The acid is great at gently removing the dead skin, dirt and and stubborn makeup you may have missed when cleansing. Removing this build up on a regular basis keeps your skin clean, evens out skin tone and helps your skin look more radiant.

Reducing the build up of dirt also stops your pores getting clogged up which helps reduce blemishes and blackheads. I have noticed my skin feels softer, smoother and fresher.

This 128ml bottle will last a good amount of time because you only need a small amount each time and the dispenser is good at only allowing a little product out at a time.

Once again Merumaya have made a product that will work on all skin types and that you can afford to repurchase time and time again. Let me know if you have any favourites from the Merumaya range, I would also recommend trying their Melting Cleansing Balm and the Iconic Youth Serum.

What I also love about Merumaya is their focus on promoting #BeautyHasNoAge – so their products are not focused or targeted at Anti Aging but feeling positive about our age and embracing the changes that happen as we grow older. I love this positive message and Maleka, the incredible lady behind the brand has made a video all about it which i encourage you to watch.
