Jurlique Activating Water Essence

I discovered this product last year and it was the first Essence I had tried. I’d heard using an Essence was a very popular step in Asian skincare routines but was dubious as to whether I needed to add another step to my already quite rigorous regime. After using it for a while I realised that it was that perfect step for refreshing and hydrating your skin before going in with your serum. Just to be clear, an Essence is not a toner, nope it’s used after both cleansing and toning, it can replenish moisture, balance skins PH levels and help skin look glowing and it is now one of the steps in my routine that I look forward too.

At the centre of the Jurlique Activating Water Essence is their star ingredient – Marshmallow Root Extract, which is great at deeply hydrating skin and improving its ability to retain moisture. If you have yet to try an essence I highly recommend trying one.

Rose Moisture Plus Balancing Serum

Jurlique are well-known for their incredible quality rose products, they have an Organic Farm in the Adelaide Hills of Australia where they grow many of the herbs, flowers (including their roses) and plants for their products. This serum is part of their Moisture Plus range and it is fantastic at reviving tired, dry skin. It combines rose hip fruit oil, evening primrose oil and green tea extract to protect the skin’s barrier and provide extended moisture to keep skin cushioned, fresh and looking radiant.

Purely Age Defying Firming Face Oil

LOVE this product, in fact I really like the whole Purely Age Defying range, if I was pushed to name my must have product from Jurlique it would 100% be this Face Oil. I have used up so many bottles and always have one on the go. I use it at night and it performs nothing short of a miracle because when I wake up my skin looks well rested and healthy, it also works to even skintone and keep skin looking plump. It is infused with a trio of potent anti-ageing ingredients; Blackcurrant Seed Oil helps to improve elasticity and firmness, Buriti Oil reduces fine lines and wrinkles and Rock Samphire Extract helps to support collagen synthesis and promotes a firmer complexion. So your skin is in good hands with this and my skin always feels incredible after I have used it.

Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing Powder

Most people are unaware that Jurlique do a finishing powder, I think it is the only makeup product they stock but it is one of my absolute favourites. This loose powder is so fine & lightweight that it never feels heavy or drying on the skin. It’s a translucent powder so it’s not going to add coverage or leave a white cast to your skin. It is great at setting makeup and keeping that oily t zone in check. I like to apply this with a big powder brush & sweep the product across my t-zone & chin, it has a really nice floral scent and my go to powder for eliminating that dreaded shine but leaving the skin with a slight matte velvety smooth finish.

It contains the key ingredients Corn Starch & Rice Starch which act as natural substitutes for talc, while Silican imparts a smooth texture on skin, Glycerin helps to moisturise and prevent moisture loss and Arnica helps soothe and cool the skin. If you like your setting powder to leave your skin with a slight matte finish without looking flat then this would be a great product for you.

Jurlique Purely Age Defying Ultra Firm and Lift Cream

This moisturiser does feel quite thick and rich when you first apply it but give it a minute and your skin will have absorbed it to leave you with a velvety soft finish. It’s so nourishing and instantly smoothing. It contains powerful natural ingredients such as, Yeast Extract to help promote collagen synthesis, Amino Acid Lipid Complex promotes skin remodeling and contraction of collagen fibers, Rock Samphire Extract supports skin density while reducing the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles and finally Beech Tree Bud Extract accelerates the production of fresh new cells. For me the one thing I noticed almost instantly from using this is my skin looked smoother, which is why I think it makes the perfect base for foundation. It helps give you that flawless base.

Jurlique Activating Water Essence

Jurlique Activting Water Essence

Jurlique Activting Water Essence

We are seeing Asian beauty influences in so many products being released by Western brands, only last week I blogged about the latest Lancome Cushion Makeup and it seems that the latest trend to hit our skincare routines is the Essence. I had to do a little background reading on just what exactly an Essence was and how best to use it in my skincare regime.

I thought I had a pretty rigorous regime and didn’t realise that there was room for one more step, a step that the Asian market have deemed to be one of the most important. So an Essence is not a toner, nope its used after both cleansing and toning, it can replenish moisture, balance skins PH levels and help skin look glowing. You use your hands to pat the product into your skin and let the rich, nourishing ingredients work their magic. One of the latest to hit the market is the Activating Water Essence from Australian skincare brand Jurlique & I have been putting it to the test.

Jurlique Activating Water Essence* £40

I thought adding another step to my skincare routine would be pointless and even more time consuming but I have to say this extra step has become one of my favourites. The action of patting the product into my skin is quite relaxing and my skin has felt a lot better too since introducing this. This product activates your skin in 3 ways

  1. Hydrates – Delivers continuous hydration and lasting moisture
  2. Conditions – Smooths skin to provide a soft, supple complexion
  3. Revitalise – Revitalises and re-energises for healthy-looking skin

New Jurlique Skincare Release 2016

At the centre of its highly concentrated formula is their star ingredient – Marshmallow Root Extract, which is great at deeply hydrating skin and improving its ability to retain moisture. So what is it about Marshmallow Root that makes it such a good skincare ingredient,

Marshmallow Root Extract has been used throughout history as a healing treatment, it has anti inflammatory properties, its gentle and soothing on the skin whilst also being a natural hydrator.

The Marshmallow Root’s ability to attract and retain water allows it to provide lasting hydration to the skin. It forms a protective barrier that helps rebalance dry skin and prevent moisture loss to leave skin feeling soft and smooth.

Along side the Marshmallow Root there are also quite a few other natural ingredients including,

  • Neem – Conditions and soothes
  • Lavender – Hydrates and calms
  • Rosemary – Invigorates and restores
  • Horsetail – Hydrates and balances
  • Witch Hazel – Clarifies and firms
  • Nettle – Rebalances and refreshes
  • Peach Leaf – Revitalises, regenerates and protects

Since using this my skin doesn’t look as fatigued or dull and it has been really good at reducing the redness in my cheeks. I am pretty pleased to have this step in my routine and can see why it is so popular. This bottle is going to last ages, you only need to splash a few drops into your hands and because it is so fluid a little goes a long way.

Let me know if you already have this step in your routine & if you’re a fan of any other Korean / Japanese beauty regimes or products.

Origins Three Part Harmony Moisturiser

Origins Three Part Harmony Cream

Origins Three Part Harmony Moisturiser

Origins Three Part Harmony £60

Over the past 15 years as my skin has changed, aged and matured, Origins skincare have really been a consistent part of my skincare journey. At some point along the way I have used almost all of their options, some I have moved on from but there are still a few which I have never stopped loving, like their Mega Mushroom Range & also the very popular GinZing Range. They have such a fantastic range of skincare which cater to a spectrum of skin concerns and ages too.

I have been using this Three Point Harmony Cream (the three point refers to Renewal, Repair and Radiance) for a whole year now & its a really great option for me, now I’m almost in my 40’s, as I said my skin has changed so much and I find I’m reaching for skincare which is more nourishing and keeps my skin hydrated which in turn stops my fine lines looking so prominent. This has been a very good moisturiser for making my skin look its best, not younger or less old but radiant and refreshed.

Origins Three Part Harmony Cream

This does have a rich, thick consistency but once you massage it in, it feels luxurious and your skin is so moisturised, without leaving behind any greasy residue. It leaves the skin feeling very smooth, supple and instantly radiant. Post application you do notice an instant smoothness and the scent is beautifully sweet & uplifting.

This cream has some really lovely skin beneficial ingredients, specifically to pep up your skin and help it look more rejuvenated and glowing.

‘This intensely rich cream with Tazetta Lily Bulbs, White Myrtle and Japanese Knot Weed helps produce youthful supplies of natural collagen to help visibly repair skin’s structure. Fine lines and wrinkles are softened. With deeply nourishing plant butters plus Vitamin E, this luscious cream renews skin’s hydration levels. With Scutellaria, it helps reveal radiance, refine tone and brighten skin to impart a healthy, vibrant glow.’

This cream tackles those skin concerns which become more prominent as our skin matures and its exciting that Origins have extended their range to cater for more mature skin types. I am hoping they add a toner and a face mask to this range in the near future.

Lovely New Origins Skincare

I am very much enjoying this cream but I’ve only got a tiny amount left so I have been saving to get a new pot, as I don’t think I can be without it in my routine. Its made such a difference to my dry, dull complexion that I am willing to spend the £60 on a new jar.

Speaking of the jar, this Origins cream comes exquisitely packaged in a luxurious weighty glass jar with a lightly coloured faux wooden lid. It looks pretty, understated and luxurious.

I have heard so many positive reviews about the Serum from this Three Part Harmony Collection that I am very tempted to also purchase that too. If you have tried this range let me know your thoughts & if I should get the Serum too.

Elemis Biotec Skin Energising Skincare

Elemis Biotec Skincare

Elemis Biotec Skincare

The Elemis Biotec range is focused on combating depleted cell energy which is often the result of lifestyle, environment, diet and stress which takes its toll on our skin. It makes our skin look dull, dehydrated, less firm and fatigued & these three products help to reboot our skins performance.

Biotec Skin Energising Day Cream £75

Both the day & night cream are bi phase and are packed with so many amazing ingredients to improve skin function, help your skin look radiant, protect it and encourage cell turnover and function. The white part has a creamy texture whilst the green part is a gel, two pumps massaged in to your skin is all you need to deliver a boost of ingredients to help improve your skins performance,

Intensely moisturise skin with the BIOTEC Skin Energising Day Cream from Elemis. Specially formulated with an energising trio of acids, including Succinic, Lactic and Ferulic to hydrate and nourish skin, revealing a smoother, replenished complexion. With the brand’s Bio-Energy™ Complex of encapsulated Zinc and Copper, the lightweight moisturiser increases cell energy, whilst working to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Skin Energising Night Cream* £85

This is much like the day cream in texture and feels similar on the skin, it contains much the same cell boosting ingredients and is also a bi phase formula. It contains these incredible ingredients for your skin:-

‘Intensely hydrate skin whilst you sleep with the BIOTEC Skin Energising Night Creamfrom Elemis. Specially formulated with an energising trio of acids, including Succinic, Lactic and Ferulic to deeply nourish skin, revealing a smoother, replenished complexion. Powered by the brand’s Bio-Energy™ Complex of encapsulated Zinc and Copper, the lightweight moisturiser increases cell energy, whilst Calcium PCA and Sunflower help to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.’

New Elemis Biotec Skincare

I’ve been using the day & night creams for about 3 weeks now, I do think they have helped give my skin a lovely boost of hydration and radiance. I thought the formula was rich, creamy and made my skin feel incredible, instantly smooth and hydrated. It feels like they’re giving my skin a shot of nourishment, I would say that I saw instant results and also over the past few weeks I think my skin is looking less red, not so dull and a little more refreshed. They leave skin feeling silky smooth and very soft.

The day cream feels lovely under makeup and my skin felt really moisturised throughout the day. The night cream is my favourite because its rich formula just seems to work a little magic over night and I wake up with lovely refreshed skin.

The price point is more on the luxury side so if I had to recommend just one of them it would have to be the night cream over the day cream because I feel that overnight we get the most out of our skincare and we don’t pile makeup on top or SPF so I think the product is able to work a little better whilst we rest and I always see better results in the morning.

Biotec Skin Energising Day Cream

Elemis Biotec Skin Energising Cleanser* £39.50

This is a gel cleanser which you massage in with warm water and remove with a warm damp cloth, It did leave my skin very clean but I just wasn’t as impressed with the cleanser. I liked using it more in the morning because it felt energising on my skin but I felt like my skin didn’t feel very hydrated. Elemis say that:-

This step kick-starts the BIOTEC system, preparing the skin for optimum performance, creating a dynamic environment to activate the BIOTEC day and night moisturisers.

But I’m not 100% convinced. I will continue to use it a couple of times a week and see if I grow to like it. I have read quite a few glowing reviews so maybe I am writing it off a little too soon. I might try it as a first cleanse and follow it with more of a cream based product. Its all trial & error I guess. The cleanser also contains some great ingredients for your skin:-

‘Specially formulated with an energising trio of acids, including Succinic, Lactic and Ferulic to reduces excess oil and rebalance skin, revealing a refreshed, revitalised complexion’

Elemis Biotec Skin Energising Cleanser

All in all I think these products are exciting and skincare seems to be getting more scientific by the day. Lots of advancements mean our products have a more impressive and potent list of ingredients which is deliver just what our skin needs. I’m excited to continue to use the Elemis Biotec Skincare System and I hope to see continuing results.

If you do want to try these but feel the price tag of the full sized products is just too much for you to commit to, Elemis do a great discovery version which includes a mini version of all three products for £35.00. This is a great way to try them all and see how they work for you.
