YSL Beauty

YSL Black Opium Floral Shock Eau de Parfum

This is the fragrance to accompany the mascara and it is a modern more youthful twist on such an iconic scent. Not only have YSL updated the scent but the glitter encrusted bottle has also had a revamp. The bottle is just as luxurious as the classic version but it now has subtle frosted pretty pink hues but it still looks just as glam rock!

  • Top notes – Bergamot Essence, Pear Accord, Freesia Accord
  • Heart notes – Orange Blossom Absolute, Golden Gardenia Accord, Solar-floral accord
  • Base notes – Coffee Accord, Sandalwood Accord, Vanila

The fresh mix of fruity and floral scents work really well together and the addition of coffee is unusual but gives the scent a warmth that is quite sexy. Whilst the vanilla and sandalwood offer both sweetness and luxury. I am in love with it and I think if you find the original a little too heavy and heady, this Floral Shock version will feel more fresh and youthful but still with that edginess you expect from YSL Opium.

YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer

This is very lightweight, not sticky at all and it sits so well on the skin. It instantly visibly smooths, blurs pores and brightens the skin. It has tiny (very tiny) gold flecks which help give your skin that subtle glow without looking like a disco ball. It gives the skin a subtle matte finish without looking flat. I am one of those people that tends not to wear a primer on a daily basis but for a special occasion this is the perfect product to help your makeup look flawless, last for hours and help your skin look fresh. If you’re feeling spendy and looking for a new primer then this is a great one to try.

YSL The Shock Mascara

YSL The Shock Mascara

Off the bat I have to say the packaging isn’t as glamourous or what I would have expected from YSL, it doesn’t look or feel as luxurious as the price tag but if you’re willing to overlook that the product itself is pretty amazing. It has quite a long, slim wand and its helix shape helps give volume and drama to your lashes without having to apply layer upon layer of product.

It does have a tendency to clump but if I apply whilst doing that magic trickery of wiggling the brush through my lashes it helps separate my lashes and ensure the product is applied evenly from root to tip reducing the clumping and giving the ultimate high impact look. I love the jet black formula and think this is a fantastic mascara for evening and making the most of your natural lashes without the need to apply falsies.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation

New Releases From Lancome Beauty

New Releases From Lancome Beauty

Last year I tried the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation and really liked the coverage & the finish so I was super excited to get the opportunity to test out their latest release, the revamped Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear. This liquid foundation is celebrating 20 years of success and along with a name change it also comes in a new frosted chic bottle and more excitingly Lancome have introduced more shades.

Before I get into the foundation I just want to mention the La Base Pro Hydra Glow*, (I have only used this once so far) it is a makeup primer which has a brightening pink tone and is designed to give your skin a beautiful radiance whilst keeping your makeup looking fresh all day / night. Unlike most primers this Lancome offering is formulated to have some fantastic skincare benefits too. It contains a :-

Cocktail blend of 14 actives, the Nourishing-sensation intensely hydrates, plumps, and continuously charges the complexion with moisture for rose petal smooth and healthy skin, perfectly prepared for the layering of foundations, with extend wear all day long.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation*

This foundation has grown quite a following over the past 20 years and it is easy to see why. This liquid foundation offers that perfect lightweight formula which can easily be built up to give you that gorgeous full coverage finish. It is easy to go from a medium to a full coverage without applying too much product or having that heavy-looking finish. It has a semi matte, velvety smooth finish that never looks flat. It leaves your skin looking radiant and very healthy but don’t think because it is full coverage that it will look cakey because that is 100% not the case, you can tailor this foundation to your needs by building up the coverage when / where necessary.

I found applying this foundation with a damp sponge gave the best finish and coverage. A sponge allows me to apply less product and get flawless, even coverage. What do you like to apply your makeup with? sponge, brush or fingers?

What Makes The Difference?

  • Eternalsoft Polymer – allows increased comfort level with ultra‑long wear
  • NAI pigments – specially coated pigments maintain consistent pH level with skin, so color stays true all day
  • Perlite and Silica – two of the most effective oil‑absorbing ingredients

I wear shade 025 Beige Lin which is the perfect match for my quite pale skin. This foundation is oil, fragrance and transfer free and has SPF15.

NEW Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation

To celebrate this foundation turning 20 Lancome have made it a whole lot easier to find your ideal shade by offering this foundation in 40 shades. So you can find the shade that matches your complexion, undertones and colouring perfectly. With Lancome’s larger palette of shades more skin tones are catered for and you can finally say goodbye to not being able to get hold of your perfect shade. I have been wearing a shade which is a great match for my skin whilst it isn’t tanned but I will need to wear a different shade when Summer comes.

For me this foundation ticks a lot of boxes. I like the coverage, finish, how comfortable it feels on my skin and the fact it doesn’t go greasy throughout the day.

You can either use the My Shade My Power Lancome Shade Finder to match your perfect shade or head to your nearest Lancome counter to be matched.

New Giorgio Armani Beauty Lip Magnets

Beautiful Lip Magnet from Armani Beauty

New Armani Beauty Lip Magnets

These are the new Lip Magnets* from Giorgio Armani Beauty and boy are they pigmented! I have four out of the 18 shades available and I am so pleased with the colours I have. These new liquid lip colours are inspired by two of Giorgio Armani Beauty’s most iconic products – the Maetsro Fusion Makeup and the Lip Maestro Velvet Lip Colour They have combined incredible colour intensity with an ultra thin formula and they’ve created a range of rich, pigmented and ultra long wearing matte lip colours. I am seriously impressed.

As with all Armani Beauty products these feel luxurious and are packaged in the with the iconic red lids with the Giorgio Armani Beauty logo in gold, I like that you can see the shades through the glass packaging, it makes picking a colour that much easier. The applicator has been developed by Armani exclusively for the Lip Magnets and they are calling it the Calligraphic Applicator. It gives you great control and precision to apply just the perfect amount of colour.

These liquid lip colours apply with ease and feel incredibly comfortable on the lips, the weightless formulation which is a combination of water, oils and pigments means that it fuses to your lips giving you that high concentrated colour. The water gradually evaporates allowing the oils to deliver a rich, intense colour that is also 4 times thinner than a liquid lip colour.

Once these are on the lips on the colour remains intense for hours and they just do not budge or transfer. I was shocked when I looked in the mirror after drinking & eating & my lip colour was still very much in place. I like that they apply quite fluid but dry down to be beautifully matte.

Beautiful Lip Magnet from Armani Beauty

New Release From Armani Beauty Lip Magnets

The Lip Magnets are available in 18 beautiful shades, everything from pretty pinks to softer nudes and of course a classic vibrant red. I have 4 shades and they’re a good cross section of shades

Second Skin – This is a very pretty nude pink and this has become my everyday colour. Its so easy to wear and looks fresh on the lips.

Front Row – This is deeper plum shade but its not too dark on the lips, this initially applied a little patchy but nothing a second coat didn’t fix. Its a great option for Autumn

Maharajah – This is one very bright, intense pink and its beautiful. The colour is bold in one swipe and looks so vivid and bright on the lips

Hollywood – This is a pretty orange toned red and it looks so vibrant and classic on the lips

Armani Lip Magnet Swatches

Matte lipstick stains are nothing new and almost all brands have released their version but these Armani Lip Magnets feel different on the lips, more natural, less drying and like I said they have serious longevity. I know they’re at the top end of anyone’s budget but if you like to wear a matte lip and are looking to invest in one that is great quality, luxurious and won’t need reapplying for hours.

If you’re able to get to a counter then I urge you to pop down and swatch these, I think you will fall in love with the formula and the colour selection too.

Giorgio Armani Lip Magnets* are out now exclusively at Selfridges £27 each and launch Nationwide from 26th October
