YSL Black Opium Floral Shock Eau de Parfum

This is the fragrance to accompany the mascara and it is a modern more youthful twist on such an iconic scent. Not only have YSL updated the scent but the glitter encrusted bottle has also had a revamp. The bottle is just as luxurious as the classic version but it now has subtle frosted pretty pink hues but it still looks just as glam rock!

  • Top notes – Bergamot Essence, Pear Accord, Freesia Accord
  • Heart notes – Orange Blossom Absolute, Golden Gardenia Accord, Solar-floral accord
  • Base notes – Coffee Accord, Sandalwood Accord, Vanila

The fresh mix of fruity and floral scents work really well together and the addition of coffee is unusual but gives the scent a warmth that is quite sexy. Whilst the vanilla and sandalwood offer both sweetness and luxury. I am in love with it and I think if you find the original a little too heavy and heady, this Floral Shock version will feel more fresh and youthful but still with that edginess you expect from YSL Opium.

YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer

This is very lightweight, not sticky at all and it sits so well on the skin. It instantly visibly smooths, blurs pores and brightens the skin. It has tiny (very tiny) gold flecks which help give your skin that subtle glow without looking like a disco ball. It gives the skin a subtle matte finish without looking flat. I am one of those people that tends not to wear a primer on a daily basis but for a special occasion this is the perfect product to help your makeup look flawless, last for hours and help your skin look fresh. If you’re feeling spendy and looking for a new primer then this is a great one to try.

YSL The Shock Mascara

YSL The Shock Mascara

Off the bat I have to say the packaging isn’t as glamourous or what I would have expected from YSL, it doesn’t look or feel as luxurious as the price tag but if you’re willing to overlook that the product itself is pretty amazing. It has quite a long, slim wand and its helix shape helps give volume and drama to your lashes without having to apply layer upon layer of product.

It does have a tendency to clump but if I apply whilst doing that magic trickery of wiggling the brush through my lashes it helps separate my lashes and ensure the product is applied evenly from root to tip reducing the clumping and giving the ultimate high impact look. I love the jet black formula and think this is a fantastic mascara for evening and making the most of your natural lashes without the need to apply falsies.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Bloom

Viktor and Rolf Flower Bomb Bloom Fragrance

Viktor and Rolf Flower Bomb Bloom Fragrance

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Bloom*

I wrote a post a couple of weeks ago about switching up your scent for Spring and if this had landed on my doorstep at the beginning of March this would 100% have been included. I adore the original Flowerbomb fragrance, it is such a recognisable, cult scent and for me it evokes so many happy memories. I have repurchased it countless times since it was first released back in 2005.

This latest release from master perfumers Viktor & Rolf is a lighter more refreshing take on the original scent, it has been called the sister scent (I like that).

  • Top Notes: Pomegranate Accord, Bergamot, Mandarin Oils
  • Heart Notes: Freesia, Rose, Jasmine, Pure Air Molecule
  • Base Notes: Musk, Vanilla, Patchouli

What I enjoy about the Flowerbomb fragrances is that they are a beautiful mix of floral and sweet. With neither being too overpowering, also once the scent has settled it has a very flirty, youthful musk undertone, which I love.

The bottle is not too dissimilar to the original, it is a little more slender but still diamond cut and looks just as pretty.

It is described as another chapter in the Flowerbomb story and if you’re a fan of the original you’re going to really enjoy this new airy, fresh, Spring offering.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Bloom is available now from Boots, Escentual, Debenhams and John Lewis in 30ml – £45, 50ml – £58 and 100ml – £80

Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette

New Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basics Palette

Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basic

Urban Decay have already released some incredible products during 2016, including their Moondust Palette, All Nighter Foundation and a whopping 100 Vice Lipsticks and they show no signs of slowing down. September saw them release the follow up to their hugely successful Naked Basics & Naked Basics 2 which both had six gorgeous neutral matte eyeshadows. The Naked Ultimate Basics Palette is the latest in the Naked line up and has taken the matte palette to a whole new level. The Naked Ultimate Basics Palette is BEAUTIFUL and it includes 12 all matte must have neutral shadows. This really it the ultimate matte palette and you need it in your life.

Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basic Palette

Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette*

From the get go this palette gets my seal of approval because its rose gold, very sturdy and for a 12 pan palette its sleek and slim. There is also a very decent sized mirror in the lid which always comes in handy. This also includes a mini double ended brush which is great quality and is actually a brush that you can use and I have been using it to apply these shadows.

This palette has 12 wearable, pigmented, neutral shadows

  • Blow (Light Nude Demi-Matte)
  • Nude (Soft Pink Nude Matte)
  • Commando (Light Taupe Brown Matte)
  • Tempted (Pale Brown Matte)
  • Instinct (Medium Pink Taupe Matte)
  • Lethal (Reddish Brown Matte)
  • Pre-Game (Pale Yellow Matte)
  • Extra Bitter (Burnt Orange Matte)
  • Faith (Medium Warm Brown Matte)
  • Lockout (Rich Neutral Brown Matte)
  • Magnet (Smoky Gray Matte)
  • Blackjack (Warm Black Matte)

New Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basics Palette

The two lightest shades Pre Game & Blow are quite pale and although not very pigmented they work well applied all over the lid & up to your brow to neutralise redness, add a little brightness and as a base for the darker shades.

The other 10 shades are very pigmented, long wearing & easy to blend. They never apply patchy and have minimal to no fall out. You can achieve so many looks using this palette so if like me you tend to wear a neutral eye most days then you have so much choice in this palette. It’s handy having 12 matte shadows in one place and the colours are so versatile, I like that you can achieve a subtle look or go all out with a smokey eye using those beautiful rich darker shades.

Favourite Matte Eyeshadow Palette

The quality of this palette is fantastic, as you’d expect from Urban Decay, I mean this is a brand that knows how to do fantastic, pigmented and very long wearing eyeshadows. I am not suprised that It lives up to the hype and I would say its a palette well worth investing in, I’ve been reaching for it almost daily.

What I also like is that the 12 shadows in this palette are all new colours and exclusive to this palette, which is exciting. I’m in love with everything about this latest Urban Decay release and I know its going to be a firm favourite for a very long time.

Viktor & Rolf BonBon Couture EDP

Beautiful New BonBon Couture Fragrance

Viktor & Rolf BonBon Couture

I’m a long time fan of Victor & Rolf fragrances and have repurchased their iconic FlowerBomb scent too many times to count, I think their fragrances are beautifully feminine and very pretty. The original BONBON scent was extremely popular and is more on the sweet side but this new more intense addition to the BONBON family is perfect if you like your perfume to be a little more intense and whilst it’s still sweet it settles down to be more of a rich, warm, sexy scent.

Viktor & Rolf BONBON Couture*

Fragrance Notes:

  • Top Notes: Mandarin Orange, Neroli, Peach
  • Heart Notes: Orange Blossom, Jasmine Sambac, Caramel
  • Base Notes: Patchouli, Sandalwood, Vanilla, White Tobacco

This perfume has great staying power and I could still smell it on myself after a full day. I would also say that it works well as both as a day and an evening scent.

New Viktor & Rolf BonBon Couture

The outer cardboard packaging (which I can’t bare to throw away) is a bright fuchsia pink with the classic black V&R faux wax seal at the centre of a pretty ribbon effect. The bottle itself is just gorgeous, it comes in a pretty purple / pink ombre effect bottle which feels very luxurious and heavy. It is shaped like a wrapped sweet (candy), its very feminine and looks pretty sat on your dressing table.

I think If you like Flowerbomb I think you’re going to fall in love with BONBON Couture too.
