Miller Harris Rose Silence Candle

Limited Edition Miller Harris Rose Silence Candle

Miller Harris was founded 15 years ago by expert parfumer Lyn Harris who spent five years training in Paris, then in Grasse at Robertet, the world’s leader in natural aromatic ingredients. Whilst respecting tradition, Miller Harris strives to push the boundaries, creating exquisitely crafted fragrances that are innovative yet timeless.

I’m beyond excited that Miller Harris have released this limited edition Valentines candle in my all time favourite Rose Silence scent. I blogged last year about this gorgeous perfume and when I heard they were extending the range if only briefly to include a candle I knew I had to try it.

Limited Edition Miller Harris Candle

This candle comes in the classic, simple yet pretty Miller Harris packaging, the box is a soft blush pink on the front and a light grey on the back with black detailing. It looks beautifully feminine and sophisticated. The candle itself is in a soft pink glass jar with MH very subtly written at the bottom, you are also able to personalise your candle with a selection of 8 quirky transfers created by award-winning illustrator and author Laura Quick. I love the bright red lips, they are very bold and fun.

This candle smells just as incredible as the perfume and it has notes of,

  • Top notes: mandarin, blackcurrant
  • Heart notes: rose
  • Base notes: patchouli, cashmere musk

This candle burns very clean and the scent fills the whole house, you can expect to get 40 hours of burn time & remember to trim the wick each time before lighting.

The scent is sensual and quite musky but the fresh notes of mandarin and blackcurrant give it a modern fresh twist. I adore anything with patchouli and think it adds such a sophistication to a fragrance. Rose Silence will make the perfect candle to set the mood for a romantic night in and ideal as a Valentines gift.

Aldi Lacura Vitacell Anti Ageing Skincare

Aldi Lacura Vitacell Anti Ageing Skincare

We all know how popular the Aldi Caviar skincare range (which won Best Own-Brand Range of the Year at the 2016 Beauty Awards) is with skincare fans of all budgets, well it seems Aldi has pulled it out of the bag again and I wanted to give you lovely people the HEADS UP!

Get excited, Aldi is introducing their latest budget-friendly skincare collection, the new Aldi Lacura Vitacell Anti Ageing Skincare which is being released for a limited time only on 9th February when it will be launched into Aldi stores & online as a Specialbuy. So that means once the range has sold out it is gone (as in GONE) so make sure you mark your calendars so you’re not disappointed as they’re expecting demand to be high.

It is not going to hang around long because this is some seriously good skincare! Have you marked your calendar?!

Lacura Aldi Vitacell Skincare

Lacura Vitacell Anti Ageing Skincare*

This is a range that is said to rival even the most premium skincare brands, it has been developed using Complex TCR3 which helps prolong the longevity of cells and promotes cell turnover.

The active ingredients that run through this collection have been extracted from the Ancient Chinese plant root Baicalin which helps protect the DNA during cell divisions, promoting young cells, increases skin firmness and elasticity, improves skin restructuring as well reducing the surface effects of free-radicals and pollutants on the skin. So it is quite the all-rounder for your skin. I have been sent 3 products from the mature skin range to test out.

Lacura Vitacell 24hr ceme de luxe Skincare

Aldi will be releasing three products in the Vitacell Collection for mature skin and this will include,

Lacura Vitacell 24HR Creme De Luxe 50ml for £6.99

Which comes in a lovely pot with a spatula so you can scoop the cream out. The cream feels very rich and quite thick but once you start to massage it into your face and neck it smooths out and feels weightless. So the Baicalin extract works as a Telomerase activator which helps protect the DNA during cell divisions and the Stem Cells from sea plants help improve the structure and elasticity of the skin. This cream delivers a great amount of hydration and gives your skin that healthy, plump rejuvenated glow. So if you’re 40+ and are looking for a product to add to your skincare regime that will not only protect your skin but help the overall appearance then this needs to be top of your list.

Lacura Vitacell Skincare at Aldi

Lacura Vitacell Serum Concentrate

This contains most of the same active ingredients as the moisturiser and is a cloudy consistency which is very liquid, not as thick as most serum I have used. It feels nice once massaged in and much like this entire range it promotes elasticity and cell regeneration. It also contains hyaluronic acid and glutamine amino acid for optimising moisture storage and helping your skin appear more youthful. This serum comes beautifully packaged with a pipet so you can dispense just the right amount of product. I have found that 2 – 3 drops are more than enough for your face and neck.

Lacura Vitacell Eye Cream

This is an eye cream for all skin types and the TCR3 anti ageing complex in this cream helps promote blood circulation and reduce fine lines and those pesky dark circles. It has a lovely rich texture but it isn’t too heavy or greasy. It also contains EYESERIL which help de-puff tired looking eyes. This is a great cream for helping hydrate, de-puff and revives your delicate eye area.

NEW Aldi Lacura Vitacell Serum Concentrate

NEW Aldi Vitacell Skincare

As I said the packaging is incredible quality and it is what you would expect to see from a much more luxurious brand, Lacura have pulled out all the stops with this Vitacell range. This range is available in Mature and Sensitive variations so fingers crossed there will be a product to suit your needs.

Vegan Banana Bread Recipe

I’m possibly the worst baker but I really want to get better because there is nothing nicer than enjoying home-baked treats, it also makes your house smell incredible. So I told myself that 2017 was the year I would put my recipe books to good use and get busy in the kitchen learning to bake some delicious sweet treats. I always enjoy banana bread and it has to be one of the easiest recipes to master, so it is a good place to start. We can also convince ourselves it is somewhat healthy as it contains banana’s …… right?

I have two recipes that I go back and forth between which are my good friend Hayley’s Recipe and Aine Carlin from The New Vegan – I’ve taken my favourite bits from them both and created my version of a delicious banana bread.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 ripe bananas mashed
  • 225g self-raising flour
  • 50g olive oil
  • 120g caster sugar
  • 2 level tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp soy milk
  • A handful of Vegan chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • First off preheat your oven to 180 /Gas mark 4.
  • Lightly grease and line a 2lb loaf tin or use a tin parchment paper liner (that is what I do)
  • Using a fork, mash the banana’s in a large mixing bowl
  • Measure all the dry ingredients and add them to the bowl with your bananas
  • The add the wet ingredients to your mixture and mix for about 2 minutes until the mixture is lump free and quite smooth. I use an electric whisk for this part (lazy)
  • Lastly, add the chocolate chips to your mixture and stir them in so they’re evenly distributed
  • Transfer mixture into your loaf tin and bake in the oven for about 45 minutes. Leave to cool in the tin for a few minutes then turn out onto a wire rack & enjoy with a lovely cup of tea.

Let me know what extras you like to add to your banana bread.

My Winter Skincare Must Haves

Winter Skincare Favourites 2017

Winter Skincare Favourites 2017

Jurlique Jasmine Hand Cream

All year round I have dry hands and I always have to have a hand cream with me. It has to be one that doesn’t just make them feel smooth but one that actually hydrates them and stops them feeling dry again within minutes. One of the first products I ever bought from Jurlique over 10 years ago was one of their luxurious hand creams & all this time on I still adore them. I’m currently using their Jasmine one and it has a light fresh scent and includes safflower seed oil & macadamia nut oil, blended with glycerin, aloe vera, calendula, honey, violet & chamomile extract which replenishes skin with deep hydration.

Tropic Super Greens Nutrient Boost Serum

I thoroughly enjoy using serums in my skincare routine, they’ve become a step I look forward too. Yes, this serum from Tropic Skincare is green and it does have an unusual scent but do not let that put you off. This is a luxurious serum which at full price is £42 and I have to say it is worth every single penny. It is a serum that combats quite a few skin concerns including dull, tired, skin and also addressing troublesome skin by helping repair inflammation and heals blemishes.

The key ingredients are Super Greens (which you might be more familiar seeing on your plate rather than in your skincare) such as Kale, chlorophyll and maca root extracts which help rejuvenate dull skin and organic tamanu oil helps to repair inflammation and heal blemishes. Green coffee extract not only stimulates skin cell renewal, it protects against pollution which is a major factor in premature ageing and dull skin.

This lightweight serum addresses so many skin concerns and the rich, nutritious, natural ingredients ensure this is a product that you can rely on to deliver results. If you get chance you must give this serum a go.

Roger & Gallet Ultra Nourishing Oil

This Roger & Gallet Body Oil is beautifully nourishing and leaves your skin with a healthy glow & feeling very hydrated. Also just as important as all the lovely skincare benefits the scent of this is incredible, the fig is my favourite scent and the Fig scent in this is beautiful and it’s so long-lasting on the skin and smells divine. It has that signature fresh Mediterranean Fig scent that I love but it has a slight sweetness to it too & I can smell it on my skin for hours. I use this after shaving my legs to keep them feeling as smooth and soft for as long as possible and during the winter I also like to use this on my knees and elbows as they always get very dry. I love that although this is an oil it never feels greasy or heavy on the skin.

Decléor Lip Balm Luxuriant Nourishing Lip Balm

You can’t go through Winter without having a lip balm strategically placed in your car, handbag on your desk and coat pocket. I always have one close at hand at all times. I have been using this Decléor one whilst I work at my desk and its helping combat the effects of central heating drying out my lips. This is one of the more luxurious lip balms I have used, it is enriched with marjoram essential oil, shea butter and macadamia oil which all help to hydrate, sooth and protect your lips.

Vichy Double Glow Peel Mask

I have spoken about this mask quite a few times and I’m still not over how much I love it, its fantastic at helping to remove dead skin to promote a healthy glow and during the Winter I can use all the help I can get combating dull skin. This mask has a cooling almost jelly-like texture which feels soothing on the skin and the combination of volcanic rock and AHA both gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells to revive and rejuvenate your complexion. I have been using this at least once a week for a couple of months and I notice the results. It’s a really good mask to use the evening before an event or special occasion as your skin will have that healthy glow then next day.
