Makeup In My Handbag

Makeup Bag

I work from home so don’t often need to carry makeup with me, but I have been out and about a little this past week and thought I’d show you what products I take with me. I tend not too re apply makeup but If I need to this is what i have with me in my makeup bag.

My Caudalie bag which once had these products in, makes a handy makeup bag, its transparent so I can see what I need and what I have with me and it’s the perfect size. I always have a hand sanatiser with me and I have been enjoying using the ones I bought from Bath & Body Works whilst in San Francisco. The one I am currently using is Island Nectar and it smells of summer. I have my Travelo with my beloved Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin perfume in, I love this perfume and it smells so fresh and the scent lingers all day.

Korres Wild Rose Lip Butter – This gives the lips a pretty touch of colour whilst keeping them hydrated. I like this colour and would describe it as a deep red rose, perfect Autumn colour. I want to buy more of these as I really like using this one. It’s so easy to apply and you don’t need a mirror and the colour is fresh and gives the lips a glossy shine.

No 7 BB Lips SPF15 Blink Pink – Another easy to wear lip balm, this doesn’t offer the same amount of colour as the Korres one but this is gives the lips a lovely glossy soft pink colour. I think it makes my lips look healthy and with SPF 15 in they are perfect when you need a little sun protection.

Rimmel Apocalips in Galaxy – This is going to be my Autumn go to colour. It’s a pretty plum with a lovely gloss finish. I have a few shades but this is my favourite and It lasts quite a long time on me & I find I don’t have to re apply it too often throughout the day. Very handy.

Benefit Boi ing Concealor in shade 02 – If I have a blemish or redness to cover this is what I reach for without fail so I have to take it with me when I am out and about. I tend to get a red chin for some reason & so like to have this on hand to touch up. This concealer is heavy-duty and if you warm it up in between your fingers it is easy to apply any blend.

Clarins Wonder Perfect Mascara in 01 Wonder Black – How handy are these mini mascaras! They are so cute. This Clarins one is really black and gives my lashes length and doesn’t end up falling down my face as the day goes on. It’s a safe bet for a long day.

Pixi Lash Line Ink in Black Silk – This gives the most precise line and the nib is really easy to use. I like wearing eyeliner but quite often you don’t want to have a big cat flick and just want a subtle line – this Pixi Lash Line Ink is amazing for that! It isn’t waterproof but it still wears well and the colour stays deep black all day.

Having oily prone skin I always have to have my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in 001 Transparent – this is just very effective at keeping my oil at bay and giving me peace of mind that I am not an oil slick! I apply it with my elf kabuki brush which is so good and budget friendly.

Last up is my Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream – This is a lovely hand cream and when I am using it on the go I just want some thing that absorbs fast I hate the feel of my hands being greasy. This one from Caudalie is perfect and keeps my hand soft and the scent is not overwhelming just fresh.

Pretty in the Pan

This Rimmel Glam’ Eyes Quad in 003 Smokey Purple looks incredible in the pan. The Colours look like they would make (as the name suggests) a pretty smokey purple eye. I was excited to try and recreate a cute smokey eye, but these shadows didn’t make that very easy.

Rimmel Quad

The shadows were chalky and I found it very hard to pick up any colour on my brush. The pigmentation was also lacklustre and the lighter two colours almost have no pigmentation. I wanted it to be good as I thought it would be ideal for travel as the packaging is small and sleek. It’s not!

Even looking at it in these photos I keep thinking you look so pretty and the texture of the shadows with that quilted look. It could have been so much more.

Have you tried any Rimmel shadows? I have a few Mono shadows and a particular favourite of mine is 140 Precious Rose. I use this very soft pink as an all over the lid colour or with a darker eye look in the outer corner to brighten the eye and it has good pigmentation, but this quad was dire and I won’t be purchasing any more. I also wouldn’t recommend it.

Avon Eyeshadow Crayon

Avon Eye Crayon

I have a few Eyeshadow Crayons in my collection and I really like using them, I have reviewed the Rimmel Shadow Stick here, and I also love the elf ones and the double ended Avon ones too. This one from Avon is quite similar to the Rimmel ones, but has less shimmer.

Avon is a brand that I use on a regular basis, I own quite a few of their products and love getting the Avon Catalogue through the door, I don’t think there is a month when I don’t order something (don’t tell my husband). I took a gamble on this Color Trend Eyeshadow Pencil, as it’s from their younger range (not that I am old), but I haven’t tried anything from it before. Knowing I was already a fan of other brands shadow pencils, I thought it might be nice to try.

Avon Eyeshadow Crayon

The formula is quite creamy for a shadow stick and I found this great when blending it out, it glides on my eyelids smoothly but if you have oily lids you might want to pop a little primer on first – only because I think this might just slip right off if worn alone.

I wear this all over my lid and blend it out with a brush, just to make the edges a little softer. I have worn eyeshadow over the top and that looked good too, my eyeshadow was bold and stayed in place all day. Not only that, but I like that these shadow sticks can be worn alone or teamed up with shadow for a bolder more long wearing eye look. The colour I bought was in Lioness, and it’s a deep bronze with a tiny hint of shimmer, but you really can’t notice the shimmer unless you’re up close.

I seem to be all about the effortless makeup look these past few months, anything that saves me time when getting ready is a winner with me, and these Jumbo Eyeshadow sticks are just that. I think this Lioness shade will make a pretty Autumn / Winter colour. Looking through my collection, I seem to have built up quite a few bronze coloured products, I can’t seem to resist them. I’m such a hoarder.

Under £5 Makeup Favourites

I know that the tag / post is meant to be 5 under £5 but I just couldn’t narrow it down. In fact it was hard to squeeze it down to my 10 favourites. I didn’t realise how many products I use and adore were utter bargains. So after trawling through my collection I decided on these 10 products.

10 under £5

Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk £1.89 (I think it’s called Metallic Pomegranate in the UK) – I wear this a lot, just on its own all over the lid. It’s a beautiful cranberry with a slight hint of shimmer. It is quite an unusual colour and I just love how it looks. I like all the colour tattoos I have tried they are really good value for money. Id say when you have finished using them make sure you do the lid up as tight as possible to stop them drying out. I wrote a review on this last year if you’d like to read it.

Vivo Colour Block Palette in Unprotected – This is a palette full of my go to neutral shades. When I’m in a rush or just want a neutral eye I most often use this palette. The eyeshadows are very pigmented and you get 12 shadows for £3.99. There are swatches here if you’d like to see them. I have had this over a year and it hardly looks like I’ve used it, it’s going to last me forever. You can create so many looks with this palette its amazing.

Undress your Skin Highlighting Powder – This reminds me so much of the Mac In Extra Dimensions Collection. I bought this powder not expecting much and it turned out to be a really pretty highlighter. A little goes a long way so don’t use too much of a heavy hand. I put a little on the tops of my cheeks. It really is very pretty and for £3.00 everyone should have it in their collection.

MUA Bronzer in shade 3 For only £1 you get a whopping 5.7g of product. This shade only works for me when I have a slight tan & that so happens to be now. We have had the most incredible warm weather these past few weeks and I am finally able to use this. It adds a healthy sun-kissed look to my skin and I can’t believe it only costs £1. It is matte and this is the darkest of the shades available so if you need a lighter colour then the other two might work for you.

Wet n Wild Knock on Wood trio – £3.50 Oh how I love Wet n Wild eyeshadows. It is crazy how pigmented and pretty these are and for the price it’s quite amazing. I like many of these colours more than the high-end shadows I have. This trio is one of my favourites. You get a light pink, plum and a dark brown and they go so well together. I take this when I travel as its so small and you can create quite a few looks with just these 3 colour

10 under £5

Undress Your Skin Radiant Under Eye Concealer – £3.00. This was another one of those products that I bought not expecting much and I now use it everyday. It works so well at making your under eye area look bright and hides those dark circles so well. It’s not too thick and I blend it with my finger and I find that works best. I will repurchase this when it runs out for sure! In a bold statement – I would say this works better for me than the bobbi brown concealer as that creases very badly on me.

e.l.f Eyleid Primer – £1.50. I have repurchased this primer so many times. It’s so inexpensive that I use it every time I wear eyeshadow. It helps my shadow stay all day and also takes the redness out of my eyelids. This would be in my top 5 products ever, that’s how much I like it.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Nude -£3.99. This eyeliner is a wonder product. I always have really red eyes and this nude coloured eyeliner helps to brighten them and make them look a less tired and red. I have a few of these Rimmel eyeliners in other colours and I like them all but this is the one I wear the most. They are really creamy and don’t drag when you’re applying them, I highly recommend them if you’ve not already tried them. I have a full post on these here if you’re interested.

Under £5

NYC Bronzer in Sunny – £1. This is a gorgeous Matte bronzer that I am obsessed with. It’s perfect all year round. I bought it in the poundshop and Its my goto bronzer. It has a huge mirror in which is so handy and the product itself is so good.

Collection 2000 Blush in the shade Trouble – £2.99. This is a pretty pink blush with a slight shimmer. It gives your cheeks a flushed look and I love to wear it during the Autumn mostly. The blush is soft and the power feels very fine. I think it looks pretty on me when I’m not very tanned. Have you tried any other Collection Blushes? I’d like to buy a few more if you have any recommendations.

It’s crazy to think that all these products are under £5 each and many of them alot less than that! I love seeing what products people love for under £5 so if you’ve done one of these link it below so I can get see it & get some inspiration for new products to try & if you have used anything from my 10 under £5 list let me know what you thought of it.
