Origins Make a Difference Overnight Cream

Origins Make a Difference Overnight Hydrating Repair Cream*

This is Origins latest addition to their already popular Make a Difference Collection. It has been developed to enhance the skin’s overnight repair function using ‘location technology’ to relocate moisture from the skin’s deepest layers, restoring lost moisture during sleep. I love products that work their magic whilst I’m sleeping.

This cream has been my Winter Skin Saviour. It feels cooling and lightweight on the skin and is a cream that you can use daily if you want to. I like to switch up my skincare quite a lot so I tend to use this 3 nights a week and I have seen a difference in my skin over the past 2 months. By morning my skin is looking fresh and after using it for a couple of months my skin is visibly plumper, brighter and smoother. This is an ultra-rich cream but it’s not greasy which after a minute or so has left my skin smooth and soft to the touch & the cream has been completely absorbed. I’m pretty smitten with it.

It includes these three key ingredients,

Rose of Jericho – Which is a desert plant that opens when moisture is present and closes up as if dead during short or long dry spells. It’s also known as a Resurrection plant because even when it dries out and lost 98% of its water content, it comes to life again when rehydrated by just a drop of water.

Watermelon – another key ingredient, can boost Filaggrin production (a pivotal role in skin barrier function), and this is a protein that promotes healthy skin’s barrier function and helps retain water.

Lychee extract – is added to keep healthy moisture balance and improve long-term hydration

So the plant extract & natural ingredients in this cream are centred around hydrating the skin but also repairing its natural function to repair and lock in moisture. So its perfect for parched skin.

Now the scent, that might be the one thing that might get you. It’s very botanical & quite strong, I like to use the Mega Mushroom range from Origins which has a very distinctive scent so that doesn’t phase me. If you’re not overly keen on heavily scented products you might want to visit a counter first & have a test of this first. Scent aside, it is a cream that will not only lock in moisture but also quench your skin and if you have dehydrated skin it will help repair the natural moisture deficiency. This is helping me combat central heating & the cold windy weather we’ve been having. Its my overnight hero.

Valentines Treats From Roger & Gallet

Roger & Gallet Rose Collection

Roger & Gallet are a French Perfumery House founded in 1862 by merchant Charles Armand Roger and banker Charles Matial Gallet, their products have such a rich history & they are famous for their perfumes and body products.

With Valentines Day fast approaching Roger & Gallet have lots of collections which would make beautiful gifts for that special someone but I have to say the Rose Collection is the one for me. Roses are so romantic and these Rose scented products are 100% better than being given a bunch of roses.

Roget and Gallet Rose Perfume

Rose Imaginaire is an Eau Fraiche*

This fragrance is inspired by the wonders of nature, and is a sensual and refreshing fragrance. It has notes of tangerine and juicy tones of strawberry, this freshness merges into the velvety scent of jasmine and violet to reveal the milky and elegant softness of sandalwood and patchouli.

The Rose Imaginaire perfume is the ideal fresh scent, not overpowering or heady but light and floral. I know most people think Rose scents are targeted at an older market but don’t pass this collection, I think it is perfect for any age. It’s easy to wear & makes the perfect daytime fragrance. I like that the fruitiness comes through and adds a refreshing twist to the overall scent.

Roger & Gallet Valentines Gifts

Rose Hand & Nail Cream*

Is lovely to have in your handbag or sat on your desk. It is enriched with shea butter and rose extract to keep your hands soft & nourished and it smells beautiful. The formula isn’t greasy, it leaves your hands smooth and the cream is absorbed quickly. A hand cream that does a great job!

Rose Body Lotion*

Formulated with rose petals & almond milk to keep your skin hydrated, smooth and silky soft this body lotion is a little slice of luxury for your body. Its a lightweight cream and is easily absorbed. I love that it has a pump, it makes applying it so much easier & fuss free. I’ve had gorgeously silky smooth legs since I’ve been using this.

I have to say that all three products would make sweet Valentines gifts & if you want to have a look at the full Roger & Gallet Rose Collection you can do here. They have a lovely selection of products, I would say the Rose Imaginaire is just beautiful and it would make such a thoughtful gift.

Do you celebrate Valentines Day?

Blemish Free Skin

Favourite Blemish Products

We all get blemishes / spots and I thought I would share with you 6 of my favourite products for preventing & treating my breakouts. Let me know what you like to use and if you have any product recommendations, or if we share any of the same favourite products for keeping those blemishes at bay!

Origins Super Spot Remover £15.00

This spot treatment gel is instantly cooling on the skin and you can feel it working right away. It can sting a little but I find that only lasts a few seconds. As this is a targeted treatment you only need to put it on the area where you feel a blemish coming or if you have a blemish thats already erupted. I don’t suffer too badly with breakouts but when I do I pop this on anytime of day and it instantly helps calm and treat the area. It stops blemishes from becoming too sore & angry and helps them clear up much faster too.  This bottle might be small but the contents are pretty mighty & I don’t know how I’ve lived without it.

Murad Exfoliating Blemish Treatment Gel

This Murad Gel is quite like the Origins Super Spot Remover in that it is a targeted blemish treatment. This has really calmed my breakouts and it helps reduce the redness and size of blemishes. I use it morning and night when I have a breakout. You just massage this in to the area where you have blemishes or are prone to blemishes. Its quite thin in consistency & isn’t sticky at all on the skin. I find this Murad Blemish Treatment better for treating larger areas and I keep the Origins Spot Treatment to put on single blemishes.

ESPA Essential Cleansing Mask £28.00

This is a lovely soothing Mask, when I use this I put a few drops of my ESPA Pro Serum underneath just so my skin doesn’t dry out & to add a little boost of something extra. This dries like a standard clay mask and leaves my skin feeling very clean, but not stripped at all. I use this at night so when I wake in the morning my skin is looking calm & radiant. This mask is very good at helping with decongested skin too & I find that my skin gets quite decongested in the summer with all the facial SPF so its nice to use a cleansing face mask. The packaging of ESPA products is as luxurious as the skincare inside, this is a lovely glass jar & the lid is so pretty it looks like marble

La Roche Posay Serozinc Spray* £8.50

There is a lot of hype that surrounds this product & I was so excited to get my hands on a bottle a few weeks ago. I have never been so excited to try a product. So this is a new release in to the UK from La Roche Posay (its been a cult product in France for many years) & now available on Escentual.com. This is a toner that’s great for calming irritated skin, soothing blemishes and preventing breakouts. You can spray the fine mist either directly on to your face after cleansing or you can spray it on to a cotton pad and sweep over the face. Either technique works well.

This product contains only 3 ingredients – zinc sulphate, astringent sodium chloride and thermal water. Together these three ingredients target blemishes, marks and excess oiliness, ensuring your complexion feels fresh and comfortable at any time of day. I like that this has so few ingredients and that they all have a purpose. This face mist is antibacterial, blemish busting, sebum reducing and I have been spraying this morning & night. I find it cooling and the mist is just perfect for lightly covering your skin & not soaking it. It does help control my oil as well as keep blemishes as bay. If you haven’t already then you need to add this to your skincare regime. Its been a welcome addition to my routine.

Nip & Fab Deep Cleansing Fix £7.95

This is quite a thick cream but it’s easy to massage in to the skin as a cleanser or smooth over the skin as a mask. It contains sweet almond oil which nourishes and smoothes whilst the tea tree oil cleanses pores. So your skin will feel clean and look bright. For the price this is a cleanser you should have in your arsenal for those days when you’re skin feels decongested, dull or you need some thing that packs a punch to help those blemishes heal quicker. Did I mention how huge this tub is?! 300ml is bigger than most body products so this tub will be with you for a very long time. Which is good news for the bank balance.

Anatomicals World Pore 3* £7.00

Anatomicals is a beauty brand with a fun attitude, their products have the best tongue in cheek packaging but don’t let that fool you into thinking their products are gimmicky because they’re not. I don’t often get blackheads but I do use pore strips on my nose & chin just to keep the few I get in check. These ones from Anatomicals do the job well, they are super sticky so if you have any peace fuzz expect it to take that with it too! I tend to use these once every couple of weeks, not too regularly as they do pull at your skin, I like to cleanse first as I find that helps remove more blackheads. Let me know if you have any Anatomicals product recommendations. Oh & you get 10 strips in a box.

Blistex Happy Lips

Blistex Mouth Watering Mango

I’m very much looking forward to spring and everything that comes with this season. The lighter days & nights, warmer weather & all the new spring makeup, skincare & clothing.

So as I was daydreaming about Spring, I was so excited to receive these Happy Lips* in the post last week. These are the new Spring Lip Balms from Blistex and now my lips think it’s spring already, the weather just needs to catch up.

Blistex Happy Lips

Blistex New Spring Happy Lips

So as I type, I am eating a few cheeky bonbons (which were in my package) & thinking about how fruity & fun these Happy Lips are. Perfect for Spring & popping in your handbag or if you’re going on a cheeky Spring break, maybe your beach/pool bag. These new lip balms come in two scents

Mouth Watering Mango

This is my favourite of the two, it smells like freshly ripe mango & makes me think of exotic holidays. Oh, & this one just might happen to have my name on the packaging (easily pleased).

Simply Sensational Strawberry

This scent smells a lot sweeter than the Mango, it’s still fruity, but I just think Strawberry is a really hard scent to achieve without it smelling a little too sweet. I think this one will appeal more to teens.

Blistex Spring Releases Blistex Happy Lips Spring

Both Happy Lips are intensively moisturising & contain vitamin E to keep your lips looking smooth & feeling soft and hydrated. The formula isn’t greasy & they feel nice on the lips. The packaging is bright, fun & travel-friendly. These are the perfect affordable lip product to help beat the Winter Blues.

Just note that these lip balms do not contain SPF, so be sun aware. But if you’re looking for a cute fruity hydrating lip balm this Spring, make sure you check these out. The Mango one is already in my handbag & I will be using it a lot!
