Yardley Flowerful Collection Decadent Mimosa

Yardley Decadent Mimosa EDT

#Gifted, unpaid PR sample/review.

Yardley London are synonymous with floral fragrance, this iconic perfume house dates as far back as 1770, they’re a British brand who have specialised in creating fine fragrance for over 250 years. They have really evolved over the years becoming modern and fun but still holding on to their classic, and timeless florals offering fantastic value for money.  More recently, they released a collection of 6 beautiful flower based scents. They range from the more fruity to the fresh and even a stunning woody option too. I have been trying the classic Decadent Mimosa, which is a lovely zesty, modern take on a classic floral perfume.

Yardley Flowerful Collection Decadent Mimosa £20

Opening with the spicy fruit notes of mandarin, pear and pink pepper, the indulgent green floral fragrance of Decadent Mimosa leads to a beautiful sunny heart of fresh, sweet and bright mimosa flowers.

Combining powdery violet, iris and lily of the valley, resting on a sensual base of sandalwood, vanilla and musk.

This dewy, fresh & rich scent will transport you to Spring/Summer days, it has gorgeous floral notes that are not what you’d expect from a classic Yardley fragrance. It is a real nod to more modern and luxurious perfumes. This budget friendly perfume really surprised me. I love the opening fruity notes, they’re very zesty and fresh and the heart notes are fresh and floral whilst the musk and sandalwood base notes give it a very romantic edge.

Described as skincare for a generation who are always on the go, Wake skincare are a relatively new brand in the beauty world founded by Anton and Alex. Two friends who wanted to address lacklustre, tired skin, so they have created a range of products that do just that. Not only do they have a refreshing attitude to skincare, but their core values are inspiring too, their packaging is all recyclable, and they even work alongside Women’s Aid, a charity that supports and empowers women affected by domestic abuse.

The founders describe the brand as,

“A brand born out of the frustrations of being glued to screens, working long hours and always being switched on.”

Wake skincare eye cream

“Our generation are always switched on. Glued to phones, Surrounded by screens and always connected to work, our friends and family were forever complaining about dark circles, bags and lacklustre skin. Then our friends started having children and the tiredness really kicked in”

Over the past 3 weeks I’ve been testing out the three products in their range, Eye Gel, Face Mask and Face Cream. All of which come packaged in colourful boxes which are very eye catching and fun. The skincare products themselves are very sleek, minimal and look very cool in their white tubs with black font and silver lids. They feel luxurious and look very modern, I am a big fan.

Autumn Skincare At Very.co.uk

Best Autumn Skincare

AD – sponsored by Very.co.uk

The transition from Summer to Autumn is always tough on my skin thanks to the cold weather, turning on the central heating and the lack of sunshine, which tends to make my skin look dull, feel dry and have less bounce. I seek out products to help give my complexion the things it lacks during these cooler months, like moisture and radiance. I also like to use soothing and products that won’t irritate or be abrasive, Autumn is for me a time to adapt my routine to nourish my skin and with the help of these products from Very.co.uk I am well on my way to a glowing, healthy complexion. Let me know if I have added any of your favourite products to my Autumn skincare regime, or if you have any suggestions of products I need to try.

Garnier Organic Rejuvenating Lavandin Smooth & Glow Face Oil*

This is such an affordable face oil which you must try, so please don’t be scared of using an oil on your skin. Even if you have an oily complexion, oils can really boost hydration and nourish skin. This Garnier one is a great overnight oil, the consistency is much like a serum and that’s how I like to use it, after toning but before my evening moisturiser. It is enriched with Organic Lavandin & Argan Oil and Antioxidant Vitamin E, so it is soothing, smoothing and very hydrating. I really like this overnight sleep range from Garnier.

Garnier Lavender Sleep Skincare
Garnier Rejuvinating Lavender Skincare

Garnier Organic Anti Age Sleeping Cream*

This cream, much like the Lavandin face oil, targets dry sensitive skin and helps calm, smooth and hydrate. This cream is nice and rich it feels lovely on the skin, very cooling and instantly hydrating. It is enriched with organic Lavandin essential oil, argan and jojoba oils for night time nourishment. I highly recommend this alongside the face oil, they’re a great overnight duo for Autumn.

Trilogy Clarifying Cleansing Gel*

Now, this cleanser has been wonderful in helping combat my dry skin. It’s non drying, rebalancing gel formula is gentle on the skin and is a must for the colder months. Formulated with mildly astringent witch hazel to tone and refresh, salicylic acid from willow bark to lightly exfoliate dull and tired skin, and omega-rich rosehip, jojoba and grape seed oils to nourish and soften. It also has such an energising scent of mint and melon, a combination that really works well together, (surprisingly). If you hate that tight, dry feeling after you cleanse, this is a great product to add to your routine.

Elemis Superfood Cleansing Butter
Autumn Skincare Update

Elemis Superfood AHA Glow Cleansing Butter*

Well, this is a game changer for me, one of those products that you instantly fall in love with and wonder how you managed without it. It is bright orange, which I thought was quite fun, and the thick buttery texture makes it so nice to cleanse with. A unique blend of a fermented Pumpkin enzymes and Acerola Cherry, naturally rich in AHAs helps to brighten skin, while Mango Butter and Chia Seed Oil, rich in omega fatty acids, nourish and hydrate the skin. If like me, your top skin concern is dull, tired-looking complexion then you need to try this cleansing butter. It will make your skin look so radiant, and I mean really healthy! It’s like a pot of gold, and I have fallen head over heals for it. You can use it morning and night, but I like to use it in the am, as it gives my skin such a smooth finish and that lovely glow.

Autumn Skincare Routine

Nip & Fab Salicylic Fix Serum 2%*

Nip and Fab have such a great range of skincare and their Salicylic Fix products are some of my favourites. We all get blemishes and uneven skin and this salicylic acid serum helps unclog pores & gently exfoliate skin which promotes cell turnover and treats/prevents blemishes. It is also enriched with Soothing Aloe Vera helps to hydrate and calm the complexion to keep the skin feeling smooth. The concentrated serum helps to regulate sebum production to banish excess oiliness with Purple Ginseng Extract.

Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream SPF30*

Not every luxury moisturiser is truly worth the price tag. With moisturisers, you are often left wondering what you are paying for but not with this Elemis Po Collagen Marine Cream, this is the real deal. It is fantastic quality and very effective. I’m 43 and when my skin is dry/dehydrated my fine lines look so much more defined and my skin is less plump. It is easy to see why this moisturiser is a beauty icon and has won countless awards. This rich but lightweight cream is designed to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and increase hydration, leaving your skin feeling smoother and firmer, with the added benefit of broad-spectrum SPF 30 sun protection. Blended with a cocktail of three seaweeds – padina pavonica, porphyridium and chlorella, plus ginkgo biloba, rose and mimosa a powerful combination which tones, improves hydration and elasticity to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I love it, and it wears so well under makeup.

REN Overnight Glow Dark Spot Sleeping Cream*

This smells like fresh oranges and is so zesty, the cream is perfect if you have some sun spots after the summer or uneven skin tone. This cream specifically targets those sun spots whilst you sleep. It also helps skin to be plumper and radiant a rich, hydrating sleeping cream – almost like an overnight mask
These key ingredients help with pigmentation and dark spots, Encapsulated algae – to target the appearance of excessive pigmentation. A bend of Encapsulated Algae Complex – targets the appearance of excessive pigmentation and PhytoGlycogen helps recharge skin for a smoother, more radiant complexion, So if you suffer from hyperpigmentation this is a wonderful addition to our Autumn skincare routine.

These are some of reasons we experience pigmentation. ‘Hormonal changes, ageing, pollution and UV damage can leave skin looking uneven, tired and cause or worsen dark spots, and these are mainly down to melanocytes. Classed as part of the immune cells, they’re known to react to and protect us from sun damage, but also react to pollution, inflammation and spots, causing areas of skin to darken over time’.

PIXI ROSE Travel Kit*

How sweet is this skincare set from PIXI, it includes 4 deluxe travel size products in the most beautiful pink packaging. You get Makeup Melting Cleansing Cloths, Rose Cream Cleanser, Rose Tonic and Rose Ceramide Cream. It’s 4 steps to nourish, gently cleanse, sooth your skin. Great for sensitive skin, the Rose Tonic is my favourite product in this kit, it is so gentle and helps boost radiance.

Lovely Coffee Shops In Cornwall Part 1

Shiva Coffee Shop Cornwall

I have lived in Cornwall for almost 6 years now, and in that time I have seen so many wonderful coffee shops open up. No longer is it impossible to find delicious, good quality coffee. There is also an abundance of places to get Vegan options and although the Summer can get very busy, we get to enjoy all these beautiful spaces over Autumn and Winter when it is quiet and cosy! I thought I would share a few of my favourite cafés with you in this post. Let me know if you have visited any of them, or if you have any recommendations for me, I love finding new coffee spots.

First up is my most local café, The Short & Strong, which is in the pretty harbour village of Charlestown. They not only have lovely outside seating but before COVID (and I hope again soon) they have cosy inside seating too. This used to be an old boat shed until about 4 years ago, when they did a full renovation, and it became my regular haunt for a cheeky morning brew.

Short and Strong Vegan Cakes Cornwall
The Short & Strong have a great menu, you can get all milk alternatives & they use local coffee and tea. If you drink Matcha, Turmeric or Beetroot Lattes, they have you covered. Smoothies and Hot Chocolate too. Their food menu is ideal for brunch, they do the classic bacon/egg rolls, full English breakfast, avocado on toast and a delicious vegan breakfast too. Oh & their granola, yoghurt and fruit is very refreshing in the Summer. If cake is more of your thing, they always have a great selection, lots of locally baked treats and the Vegan Peanut Butter Blondies are not to be missed.

You get a nice view over the harbour, but be warned it gets SUPER busy, so be prepared to wait for a table. Unless, like me, you get there very early in the morning as the sun is coming up.

Now, Shiva is quite a special place & it is located in just the most adorable housing estate called Nansledan on the outskirts of Newquay. It is an entirely new housing estate where all the houses are different styles in sweet pastel colours, and I just want to live there. They have established quite a community feel with cafés, bakeries, homeware shops, florists and even a dog groomer. How perfect!

Shiva is a café with a Yoga / Pilates studio and is focused on wellness and health. The café is a lovely space too, where they do a supper club in the evening as well as a roast dinner club at the weekend. It opens late on Friday and Saturday evenings with a licence to serve alcohol.

I have only been during the day and their breakfast, brunch and lunch menu is full of locally sourced food and drink, they prepare almost most of their offerings themselves and what they buy in is good quality and locally produced. I am plant based, and their menu has so many lovely options, as well as having ALL the milk alternatives too. I have sampled their Berry Bali Bowl, Vegan Sausage Rolls and Soups. All were delicious.

Nansledan Newquay

They offer everything from Matcha to Chai and their iced coffee & regular coffee is so good too. I am partial to their sweet treats and whenever the Vegan Jaffa Cake or Biscoff Flapjack is on the menu I can’t resist! I challenge you to have the will power to say no to their cake counter. They have lovely outside seating and the café itself had a very relaxed, bright and friendly vibe. As it is on a housing estate, it is mostly full of locals – unless someone has been recommended to visit or a tourist has discovered this hidden gem.

So if you’re heading into Newquay anytime soon I highly recommend visiting Nansledan, not only for a nice coffee & brunch at Shiva but make sure to visit Teylu Trading – a gorgeous Scandi home store and also Home is a lovely florist and homewares shop too. Well worth an hour of your time, for sure.

Vegan Cake Shiva Cafe Cornwall

The final café for part one is Island, which is also over in Newquay. Owned by the same people that brought us Strong Adolfo’s on the Atlantic Highway (also a fab place for coffee & food). Island is relatively new and is pretty cool inside (do people still say cool?), well I do & it is a nice space, with a black counter, black and gold coffee machine, black Huskee cups and black crockery, which is is right up my street! I love the vibe, and even bought myself a Huskee reusable cup after visiting.

Island Cafe Newquay
Island Coffee Cafe Newquay

Island is just outside Newquay centre & well worth popping over. I love their Vegan Curried Cauliflower and Cheese Toastie, it’s delicious. They have a good amount of Vegan options and their coffee is lovely too. I did manage to resist a cake, but they had a wide selection of indulgent treats, including many Vegan options too. They offer matcha, chai, beetroot & turmeric lattes and milk alternatives. Their food is locally sourced, and they have smoothies and a seasonal food menu. It is a very cool location and I highly recommend popping in.
