Yardley London are synonymous with floral fragrance, this iconic perfume house dates as far back as 1770, they’re a British brand who have specialised in creating fine fragrance for over 250 years. They have really evolved over the years becoming modern and fun but still holding on to their classic, and timeless florals offering fantastic value for money.  More recently, they released a collection of 6 beautiful flower based scents. They range from the more fruity to the fresh and even a stunning woody option too. I have been trying the classic Decadent Mimosa, which is a lovely zesty, modern take on a classic floral perfume.

Opening with the spicy fruit notes of mandarin, pear and pink pepper, the indulgent green floral fragrance of Decadent Mimosa leads to a beautiful sunny heart of fresh, sweet and bright mimosa flowers.

Combining powdery violet, iris and lily of the valley, resting on a sensual base of sandalwood, vanilla and musk.

This dewy, fresh & rich scent will transport you to Spring/Summer days, it has gorgeous floral notes that are not what you’d expect from a classic Yardley fragrance. It is a real nod to more modern and luxurious perfumes. This budget friendly perfume really surprised me. I love the opening fruity notes, they’re very zesty and fresh and the heart notes are fresh and floral whilst the musk and sandalwood base notes give it a very romantic edge.

The packaging is simple but pretty, the box is very bright and is covered in lovely yellow mimosa flowers. The bottle is timeless and elegant. These fragrances make thoughtful gifts, especially for Mothers Day. They’re budget friendly and the Flowerful Collection has 5 floral options to pick from, so there is a perfect scent for everyone!

Miller Harris is the ultimate in luxury for me when it comes to fragrance. Their products are quite unique and incredible quality. I have really loved everything I have tried from them and I have been wearing Powdered Veil every day for well over a month now. I think it has an air of confident sophistication about it & that is how I feel when I wear it.

Miller Harris was founded 15 years ago by expert parfumer Lyn Harris who spent five years training in Paris, then in Grasse at Robertet, the world’s leader in natural aromatic ingredients. Whilst respecting tradition, Miller Harris strives to push the boundaries, creating exquisitely crafted fragrances that are innovative yet timeless. Miller Harris perfumes are beautiful, luxurious and timeless. 

Powdered Veil is the latest offering from Miller Harris and it is a modern nod to old school Hollywood glamour. This Eau de Parfum is rich, fresh, sexy and warm all in one. Miller Harris describes this scent as,

‘Delicately powdery and sweetly resinous, amber is the definitive oriental accord and, in Powdered Veil, it is given a nuanced and translucent air. The sparkling freshness of spicy pink pepper flirts with a twist of rosy geranium. A sensuous orchid accord provides a fragile and haunting floralcy to the heart, combined with transparent florals and the luminous freshness of hedione. When you first spritz this subtly powdery fragrance it has a real touch of sweetness which is quite refreshing. This leads into more fruity fresh notes which are uplifting and delicate. Then when left to settle it reveals its more confident, warm, rich notes which I think make this perfume feel modern, sensual and very romantic. I love the mix of fruity, floral and sweet notes with the more warm, elegant, rich woody and musk notes. It works so well and gives it layers the change as it wears throughout the day. It is a great day to night scent and one that has a confident edge to it.

The packaging for Powdered Veil is quite different from what we’re used to from Miller Harris. The bottle shape is still the familiar weighty squared off design but they have stepped away from the clear bottle. This offering comes in a simple, sophisticated matte pink bottle. The contrast of the soft matte pink bottle and the gold embossed lettering really gives the design a modern, glamorous and sleek look that compliments the fragrance.

It’s always quite difficult to describe a fragrance because they’re such a personal product. Everyone’s take on a scent is different but I do I urge you to seek out your local Miller Harris retailer so you can explore their range for yourself. They have a very wide selection of scents and I just know you will fall in love with at least one.

Limited Edition Viktor Rolf Flowerbomb Perfume

Since it’s launch in 2005 Flowerbomb has become an International bestseller and I for one love it’s sweet floral scent, it evokes so many happy memories and it is a perfume I always go back to.

The 2017 Christmas Collectors Edition of Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb comes with a silver flower adorning the neck of the iconic hand-grenade shaped perfume. This bottle is slightly different this year as it’s frosted pink instead of the classic glass bottle. This limited edition design is charming and quite subtle compared to previous years and I really like it.

The perfume is the same cult favourite but each year Viktor & Rolf like to release a special edition bottle at Christmas, so the scent is the one we all know and love. It has that fresh, sweet modern feel with an oriental twist. It is such a recognisable scent and I have been wearing it for years now. I always have a bottle in my collection because it is a perfume that is so easy to wear and the scent lasts so long on me.

Limited Edition Flowerbomb Perfume

This is a lovely light, floral scent but you can make out the sweet notes of vanilla and the rich warm notes of amber. This perfume is layered with gorgeous notes and I adore bergamot in my fragrances, I think it gives Flowerbomb a sophisticated & sexy edge. If you’re someone who has never tried this iconic fragrance you must test it next time you get the chance. It really is a beautiful, smooth & rich scent with so many beautiful notes.

I wrote a post a couple of weeks ago about switching up your scent for Spring and if this had landed on my doorstep at the beginning of March this would 100% have been included. I adore the original Flowerbomb fragrance, it is such a recognisable, cult scent and for me, it evokes so many happy memories. I have repurchased it countless times since it was first released back in 2005.

This latest release from master perfumers Viktor & Rolf is a lighter more refreshing take on the original scent, it has been called the sister scent (I like that).

  • Top Notes: Pomegranate Accord, Bergamot, Mandarin Oils
  • Heart Notes: Freesia, Rose, Jasmine, Pure Air Molecule
  • Base Notes: Musk, Vanilla, Patchouli

What I enjoy about the Flowerbomb fragrances is that they are a beautiful mix of floral and sweet. With neither being too overpowering, also once the scent has settled it has a very flirty, youthful musk undertone, which I love.

The bottle is not too dissimilar to the original, it is a little more slender but still, diamond cut and looks just as pretty.

It is described as another chapter in the Flowerbomb story and if you’re a fan of the original you’re going to really enjoy this new airy, fresh, Spring offering.
