INIKA Mineral Foundation*

I’m not someone that uses mineral makeup, I am so clumsy and often I get more on the floor or my vanity than I do my face. In a nutshell loose mineral products scare me & the potential for mess is huge! I saw this INIKA powder foundation in my stash & I thought it was high time I used it again, I used it a little when I first got it but over time it was pushed to the back of my stash. I have been using this over my liquid base, which is usually my bareMinerals Complexion Rescue and it adds a little more colour and coverage but not full coverage by any means, so still quite natural but it looks so flawless and smoothing.

I am in love. I don’t think my base has ever looked as good and I use very little powder so it never looks overdone or like I have on a lot of makeup. I can’t believe I have never tried this before. I also like that this is 100% vegan and cruelty free. The powder also contains Titanium and Zinc Oxides provide natural sun protection with SPF15.

Lord & Berry Twistick in Shut Up

I absolutely love lip crayons and think they’re such a no fuss quite effortless lip option and this Lord & Berry one is a gorgeous Autumnal shade. Its a deep berry and is very pigmented on the lips. Its quite a creamy formula so it won’t dry out your lips but it also means you will have to reapply throughout the day but the colour is just gorgeous. So pleased to have re discovered this and I have been keeping it in my handbag and using it most days.

Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium Deep

LOVE this product, its all I have been using in my brows. Its natural but gives them enough colour so they looked filled in but not too dramatic and I like that it also holds my brow hairs in place so they look neat and tidy on my face! The brush is just the perfect size its small enough that you won’t get product all over your forehead and you will be able to tame those brows with precision. I have repurchased this on many an occasion and & I can’t believe I had forgotten about it. I blame the house move, I am only now getting my makeup stash in order and rediscovering products. If you haven’t tried Gimme Brow you need to, its a must have in my opinion.

etos Smokey Eyes Eyeshadow

I don’t use this to create a smokey eye but I like how pretty the shadows are and think they look natural on the lid and are ideal for a fresh daytime eye look. I bought this a while ago in a chemist in Amsterdam and I have hardly used it (eyeshadow hoarder) but this pink tones in this trio are pretty and not the colours I would normally use so I have been enjoying experimenting with those and creating a very pretty mauve pink eye look.

Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation

I do have a lot of foundations (too many) so I need to have them on rotation, that way I use them instead of gravitating towards just one. This month I have looked out my Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation this gives a beautiful satin finish to the skin and I am always shocked with how little product you need because it blends out so well. I would say that if you are prone to dry skin this foundation does cling to any dryness so use a primer or just make sure you moisturise well. I love the bottle too but I do wish it had a pump, as I said before I am clumsy and this is just a disaster waiting too happen.

The Body Shop All in One Instablur Primer

This has quite a thick gel formula and I find it takes a little time to work it in to the skin. I don’t often use a primer but I have had this one open for almost a year and I didn’t want it to go off and have to throw it away before I had the chance to really put it to the test. I use this to smooth my skin and give it that blurred effect, you don’t need a lot of product otherwise it can feel quite greasy on the skin, I apply it to my forehead, chin and a little down the sides of my nose. I do think my makeup applies well over the top and makes it look smooth, I wouldn’t say this was good for smoothing over blemishes but it is good as a primer if you want to achieve a flawless look with your foundation. I won’t repurchase because I like the Laura Mercier Primer better

Bath & Body Works Pocketbac in Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin

I am on the fence about the new B&BW packaging but I couldn’t resist a Autumn scent & this is sweet but not in a sickly sugary way. These are just a fun product, I know they contain alcohol before you all say how drying they are for your hands. I just love the range of scents and they’re a good way of keeping hands sanitised. Let me know what your favourite scents are.

Travel Makeup Bag Scotland Edit

Scotland Makeup Edit

I have just returned from visiting family in Scotland & I was there for almost 3 weeks. I thought i’d share with you the makeup I took with me. First off I love this makeup bag, it was a limited edition release from Origins last year & they teamed up with fashion designer Nanette Lepore. It is a beautiful design and it fits quite a good amount of products in. I do have my brushes packed separately so this just had my makeup in.

My Scotland Makeup Bag

I took my B. Prepared Illuminating Makeup Primer* this leaves my skin feeling silky smooth and doesn’t add any slip or shine to the skin but instead it adds a beautiful luminous glow to the skin without any shimmer or glitter. It is a really nice smooth base for my foundation to sit on top of & it helps my makeup last all day whilst adding a healthy glow to my skin. It also has Hyaluronic acid and vitamin E which are great at hydrating skin and helping reduce the signs of fatigue.

Talking about foundations I took 4 bases with me, sounds excessive but 2 are sample sizes & the other two are totally different options. The one I used most frequently was the Bourjois CC Cream* it gives my skin a light, natural coverage whilst counteracting redness and evening out your skin tone. I found it so easy to blend and wears really well throughout the day. I love this & I’m so pleased with it. If you’re looking for a Summer base this might be the one.

Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation* – This was bought on a whim a couple of weeks ago & I have been blown away by it. It gives more coverage than the Bourjois CC Cream but it still isn’t heavy in the skin and I would say it gives a medium coverage. Its a very watery formula which I think is very easy to blend and it gives the skin a gorgeous satin finish, it makes my skin look incredible & I don’t need to powder unless I want it to last all day & into the night which isn’t often.

Scotland Makeup Edit

I took the Ginvera Green Tea BB Cream too and I like that its a light coverage and provides a natural touch of colour so my complexion looks bright & even. It has a lovely creamy consistency which I found very easy to blend, I did lightly powder but I don’t think thats 100% necessary. This BB Cream covers all bases it provides a SPF30, protects against free radicals, conceals imperfections & contains hyluronic acid for all day hydration. So you’re getting a lovely BB Cream with the added skincare benefits which Asian brands are renowned for.

I always take my MUA Undress Me Too Palette as its so slim & has 12 eyeshadows in, so lots of neutral options. I like that its affordable so I’m not worried about it getting damaged in transit & I think all the shadows are great quality and are perfect for wearing during the day.You get 2 mattes and a mix of metallic finishes and shimmers, so quite a varied selection for a £4 palette. I also took the Collection Eyes Uncovered Palette in Nude Bronze which is a more recent purchase & the shadows in this palette wear slightly longer & I love how pigmented and pretty they are. If you love gold, bronzy shimmers then this is the one. Again it’s such an affordable palette & I highly recommend checking it out. There are a few in this range & this one has more metallic, shimmery options. So perfect for the evening.

I took two cream eyeshadows & they were the Bourjois Colorband Eye Crayon in Brun dadaiste & Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Sugar Frost these are my go to eye option for a lazy makeup day. they look pretty on the lids & they last all day. I also just blend them out using my finger, its so quick and easy.

Travel Makeup Bag

I am so in love with the Soap & Glory Supercat Liner that I had to pack it, its amazing at getting that perfect, precise liner that you can make look more dramatic if you want to. Wonderful deep black pigmentation and no smudging throughout the day. Try it if you like liquid liner, you will not be disappointed.

My Benefit Boiing Concealer is always in my makeup bag, I have repurchased it so many times because it just works. It covers everything and anything & it never looks cakey. Its quite creamy and you can blend so easily but once its on it stays in place for hours. Its heavy duty and a concealer that you can rely on. I also took my Bobbi Brown Corrector because I am trying to shop my stash & I hadn’t used this for a while & I knew that Scotland would be a lot of early mornings & late nights so this was going to be my product to counteract the dark under eyes.

Soap & Glory Solar Powder – This is my favourite bronzing duo, its very handy for travel having 2 shades. I think this bronzer gives me a sun kissed glow & a touch of natural colour. I must have used it everyday since I bought it. I do hate the flimsy cardboard packaging & the lid / mirror is about to rip off any day which is such a shame. Next up is Elf Pinktastic which is a baked highlighting blush with pink and beige marbling, it really brightens up your cheeks and leaves them looking flushed and glowing. The shimmer isn’t too OTT but looks fresh and is a beautiful highlight.

I took two blushers with me the first is the Max Factor Creme Puff in Gorgeous Berries* which is just beautiful, and it adds such a pretty warm rosy glow to your cheeks. The last blush I took is the Essence Silky Touch Blush in Babydoll which it is a soft pink and I think quite a natural colour so it gives your cheeks a very subtle fresh healthy look.

Travel Makeup Scotland Edit

Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot is a wonderful setting powder if you have an oily t zone, its keeps my foundation in place and from looking shinny after a couple of hours. I have hit pan on this too. I also took my Mac Select Sheer Pressed Powder NW25 this powder gives my skin a little more coverage & sets my makeup. I use it at night because of the extra coverage it gives, it makes my foundation look flawless and stops my skin getting oily. I have had it for ages & I’ve almost used it up. I always forget I have it but love it when I rediscover it, its just a great all round powder.

I only took two lip options and they were both lip crayons. The Origins KissZing Lip Crayon in Rosemance* this has to be my favourite everyday lip colour. Rosemance is a soft nude rose shade, it gives your lips a pinch of colour & looks natural and pretty. The formula is quite creamy and glides on effortlessly, feels hydrating on the lips but not greasy at all. I have it in my handbag ALL the time. I also took the Lord & Berry Twistick in Shut Up* which a deep plum shade & is my go to evening lip colour.

So thats what I took with me for 17 days in Scotland, do you think I packed light?

My Lip Crayon Collection

Lip Crayon Collection

MUJI Makeup Storage

I love to see what other beauty bloggers have in their Muji Storage or just how they store their makeup in general. I am that person who can watch makeup collections on YouTube for hours. I don’t have a huge collection because I just don’t have the space to store it and I like to give products to friends & family that I don’t often use or that don’t work for me. So I thought over the next few weeks I would show you a peek at how I store my makeup & let you see the products I keep.

Lip Crayons

Today is what I like to call my lip crayons drawer, crayons are easily my favourite lip product I do have a few liquid lipsticks in there too. I like the packaging of lip crayons and how easy they are to apply. I also love that so many brands have released their own versions. The lip crayons in the top drawer are the ones I use most often and this cute 2 drawer Muji Storage is the perfect size & depth to keep them in.

Top Layer

No7 High Shine Lip Crayons

I have two of these in the shades Delicate Pink & Day Dreamer. They feel and look glossy on the lips. They don’t have much pigment but look pretty as an everyday lip colour, especially if you like minimal makeup. These are mini as they were a Christmas release.

Collection Work The Colour Lip Butters

I have two of these in the shades Vintage Rose & Perfect Plum. Both colours are pigmented and look so pretty on the lips. The plum shade is vibrant and the rose is a soft and elegant peachy pink. These are not overly glossy and don’t feel slippy or greasy on the lips. They wear really well on me & I think these are my favourite budget lip crayons.

Clinique Chubby Stick Intense

This is in Roundest Raspberry & WOW does it pop a colour. It’s very similar to the Collection Perfect Plum, just more glossy & long wearing. I think this shade is a limited edition colour but I know that Clinique has a great selection of these chubby sticks.

NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil

This is in the shade New Lover which is quite a complex but pretty shade. In some lights it looks like a dark pink & in other lights the shimmer comes through & it looks peach. It looks incredible and glossy on the lips. There is a definite shimmer to this pencil so I don’t wear it during the day but it is a pretty night lip look.

No7 BB Lips SPF15

In Blink Pink. I have had this for quite a while now & love to use it in the warmer months, it’s the glossy sugary pink shade. It’s quite pigmented for a gloss & I like that it has SPF 15. I keep meaning to buy more of these when I have my No7 vouchers. Let me know if you have any of these & what colours you would recommend.

Wet n Wild Lip Shimmer

In the shade 106 Spice. This has no shimmer in it, so the name is very misleading. It is a tinted lip balm (but has the pigmentation of a lipstick) & reminds me very much of the Korres Lip Butter in Wild Rose. It is a deep mauve pink shade & if you build it up it can look quite red. I love this & for the price, I wish I’d bought a couple more. I use this all the time & always forget how pigmented it is.

Origins Kiss-Zing Lip Crayon*

In the shade Rosemance. It’s a pretty creamy brown shade and it’s the ideal lip colour for when I want my makeup to look low-key but still put together. It is a neutral easy to wear light brown shade which is also hydrating & nourishing for the lips. It has Meadowfoam Seed and Jojoba Oils with Mango Seed and Shea Butters, so jam-packed full of beneficial ingredients to keep your lips healthy and smooth. These come in 6 pretty wearable shades, perfect for Spring / Summer.

These Kiss-Zing Lip Colours are a new release from Origins & I have done a full review Rosemance, so look out for that on the blog next week.

Bottom Layer

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer

I have the shades Galaxy, Luna and Celestial. They’re glossy, pigmented and have great staying power. They can be quite messy and a little product goes a long way. I don’t wear Luna too much, it is a peachy orange shade and looks pretty in the warmer months. Celestial is a warm pink and is such an easy colour to wear. Its low key but very brightening and quite a nice Spring shade. Galaxy is my favourite of the three, mostly because I think plums/berry shades look better on me & Galaxy is a deep plum and might be more of an Autumn/Winter shade but I like to wear it all year round. It is glossy and pigmented but you can blot any of these with tissue to reduce the colour and they still look amazing.

Lord & Berry Twisticks*

In the shades Shut Up & Rock and Rose. Rock & Rose is a gorgeous bright girly pink. I was a little scared of this shade at first but it was so nice on. With my fair skin & dark hair this shade really popped, it stood out but in a good way. Shut Up is a gorgeous berry pink, It gives my lips the prettiest wash of colour. One coat is enough, no need to build it up as the colour payoff is so good. These are really good quality and are long wearing.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains

I have two of these in the shades Lovesick and Cherish Devotion. I wore these so much when I first bought them and must say since getting the Lord & Berry and Collection ones they haven’t had much love. Lovesick is a bright pink, it’s bold and very pigmented. Cherish Devotion is more of a baby pink and is very glossy. They both have that minty scent which I am not overly keen on but it doesn’t last too long. Revlon has such big range of lip crayons in all different colours & finishes. What are your favourite from their range?

P.S Love Lip Gloss Crayon

This is from Primark & doesn’t have a colour name but it is a glossy nude shade. It looks natural and pretty, the staying power isn’t wonderful but I don’t mind reapplying throughout the day. This has a sweet scent and I tend to wear this when I’m popping out & have very little makeup on, as its so subtle but makes my lips look even and glossy.

Collection Cream Puff Lip Cream

In Cotton Candy. The colour is a deep pink which applies evenly and creamy on the lips. It feels moisturising & it dries to a velvet matte finish. Despite this being a matte finish it doesn’t feel drying at all & wears off the lips evenly after a few hours. Its pretty, cheap & it smells so good!

Let me know how you store your lip products & if you’ve tried any of the ones in this post.

Best Lipsticks Shades For Winter

Favourite WInter Lipstick Colours

Top WInter Lipsticks

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Mrs Mia Wallace*

This beautiful bright ruby red lipstick was part of Urban Decay’s Pulp Fiction Collection. The colour is so intense & I love it. I’m not one to normally wear such bold colours but this is so pretty I love wearing it. The formula is creamy and feels smooth and nice on the lips, this colour does bleed a little but nothing a lip pencil can’t help with. The packaging is as luxurious as the product, it comes in a sleek black bullet with UD embossed on the lid & inside you get a pop of purple.

If you have tried any of the Revolution Lippies let me know what colours you’d recommend as I’d love to try a few more.

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Galaxy

This gloss is a deep plum colour and it looks extremely pigmented and glossy on the lips. It’s really pretty for nights out and I find it easy to apply with the doe foot applicator, but be careful you don’y apply to much. I tend to wipe most of the excess product off the applicator before applying it to my lips. Do note that a little goes a really long way with these. This tube has lasted a year so far & I still have so much product left.

Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Lipstick in Hot 401*

This is a very pretty deep berry shade, it is so long wearing and applies very smoothly on the lips. It is marketed as a CC Lipstick as it has the moisturising qualities of a lip balm and the pigmentation of a lipstick and I find that this formula looks quite glossy on the lips. I like the formula a lot & like how hydrating it is without compromising on pigmentation Can I just say how luxurious the packaging is too, it has a magnetic close and I love the deep red bullet.

Winter Lipstick Swatches

Collection Lasting Colour Lipstick in Sugar Plum

This is my favourite affordable lipstick, its a bold pink colour and looks fresh and pigmented on the lips. It brightens up my look & feels nice on the lips. I wouldn’t say this formula was long wearing but I don’t mind reapplying this throughout the day. Its a pretty colour so I will forgive its not so good staying power.

DHC Premium Lipstick in Rich Raspberry

I wore this a lot in the Summer but I think its the perfect shade for Winter too. I love berry’s all year really. If you like your lipstick to be hydrating, easy to apply and fresh looking then you will love this one. I find that it lasts a nice amount of time on me, a good couple of hours. If you are eating and drinking they will wear off as they’re a satin finish and quite buttery on the lips but topping them up is so easy too! The packaging of this lipstick is beautiful, the casing is a stunning mix of gold and silver with etched flower detailing. They look very pretty and feel luxurious.

Lord & Berry Twistick in Shut Up*

I love lip crayons and this one is my absolute favourite. They’re a 3 in 1 lip product with the moisturising benefit of a lip balm, the colour of a lipstick and a gloss finish. Perfect! Shut Up is a berry pink and it’s pigmented and very easy to apply. I always have this in my handbag as its so easy to apply on the go & I think the colour is flattering day or night. You can build up the pigmentation to look quite bold or just sweep across your lips for a wash of colour.

Korres Lip Butter in Wild Rose

Such an old faithful of mine. I have been through a couple of these. Its a lip balm with great pigmentation. I like that it doesn’t fell sticky or greasy on the lips. It adds a beautiful pinch of colour and I find that although it is a lip balm in texture the colour is quite long-lasting. Wild Rose is a pretty red berry colour and perfect for daytime. I want to try a few more of these as I just love this one and think they’re great value for money. I featured the Korres Lip Butter in my Winter Makeup edit if you’d like to read it

I have to say I have been enjoying quite a few Korres products lately & its a brand I want to try more from so if you have recommendations let me know.
