The Rediscovered SIX

I think we are all guilty of having too many things such as makeup, clothes or even books that often we forget what we have. Sometimes things that we once loved get overlooked or even worse things we bought get lost amongst the clutter and never used. Well my habit is makeup & skincare, I was having a well overdue clear out & I discovered quite a few products that I’d forgot I had. Some well loved products and a couple that I’ve only used a few times and that needed to be re discovered & shown some love, so I have put them in to my everyday makeup drawer and I have promised to reach for them as often as I can.

Forgotten Makeup Items

Shopping my stash

Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc in Starlet Mosaic – This is the most gorgeous baked highlighter if you swirl your brush through all the colours it gives you a pretty peachy glow. I have even used it a couple of times as eyeshadow and the colours are pigmented and brighten the eyes. All 4 shades are really pretty & have a frosted finish. I’ve only used this a handful of times and can’t wait to use a lot more.

Physicians Formula Happy Boost Blush in Rose – How pretty is this blush in the pan, all those hearts just make me smile each time I use it. I reached for this blush so much when I first received it in a USA beauty swap but after I moved I totally forgot about it. This blush is a pretty soft pink and is very flattering on my pale skin tone. Some of the hearts are slightly different in colour but when swirled all together they make a soft almost baby pink shade.

Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Lipstick in Hot 401* – I have a few of these lipsticks which I wear all the time and I LOVE them. This one however was lost amongst my nail polish for some reason and I’d totally forgotten about it. This was my favourite colour out of the 4 shades I have and it is a very pretty deep berry shade, it is so long wearing and applies very smoothly on the lips. It is marketed as a CC Lipstick as it has the moisturising qualities of a lip balm and the pigmentation of a lipstick, this formula looks quite glossy on the lips. Can I just say how luxurious the packaging is too, it has a magnetic close and I love the deep red bullet too.

NARS Eyeliner in Parrot Cay – I’m not going to admit how long I have had this eyeliner but I love it too much to throw away & the colour is too nice. This was the first NARS product I ever bought, this and another eyeliner in a bright blue shade. Parrot is a soft almost mint green shade. Its really brightens the eyes & looks really pretty in the summer. I’m so happy to rediscover it.

Avon Magix Cashmere Finish Foundation in Creamy Natural – I am so happy to have this back in my everyday stash as it is the perfect shade for me right now, as I have am ever so slight tan and this matches me perfectly. This Avon foundation gives my skin the most velvet finish or as the name states – cashmere. It looks soft and flawless but not at all heavy . Its easy to blend and I like that it isn’t a runny consistency I would say its quite light and has a mousse / whipped texture. It wears well on me but I do have to powder it down so it lasts all day.

Mac Wonder Woman Mineralize Skinfinish in Golden Lariat – This product wasn’t lost in my collection as such, It was just too pretty to use but I’ve decided that it needs to see some love & a lot more use. Its far too nice to be pushed to the side. Its MASSIVE you get 20g of product so I’m not going to use it up anytime and that means I can use it without worrying that its going to run out. This MSF has 3 colours a golden highlight, a bronzer and a peachy blush. And it gives you the prettiest glow. I’m going to have a lot of fun trying this out & finding ways of incorporating into my makeup routine.

Let me know what makeup you have rediscovered recently. Its crazy what gems we have hiding in our stash.

Products that are marked with an * have either been sent to me for my consideration or I’ve received at events. I’m under no obligation to review them on my blog. However if I do, the reviews are 100% my own

Feeling Flushed

I had a look through my makeup collection and picked out some blushes / highlighters that will be perfect for summer. So here are my picks.

Summer Blush

MUA Shimmer Kisses Blush £3.00 for 7.3g – this blush quad is really pretty and can be used as a blush or a highlight. I tend to swirl my brush around and pick up all four colours. It’s a really soft pink and very easy to wear, it isn’t too dusty and I find it wears about 5 / 6 hours on me before the colour starts to fade. It has a slight shimmer to all the colours but nothing too over powering. This is also a great product to travel with as you can get alot of great blush shades from it and the packaging is quite slim and compact.

Me Me Me Shimmer Stack in Bronze £9.99 for 12g – This is very versatile and for £9.99 you get alot of product for your money. It comes with 5 shades from a cream, bronze, gold and a rose gold. They can be used individually and make lovely eyeshadows too. As a blush it gives the same look as Mac MSF in Soft and Gentle. It is very pretty and gives a lovely metallic shimmer, all shades are very pigmented. I’ve loved using this and would highly recommend it.

Topshop Highlighter in Sunbeam £10 for 6.5g – Wow this is a big highlighter and the packaging is so cute although it doesn’t have a mirror. It is a little bulky to travel with but I really like using it, mostly as a night-time highlight. On the top of the cheeks it leaves a very pretty sheen. It is gold and very pigmented so a word of warning, use with a light hand otherwise you will end up with far too much shimmer. This will last you forever so is very good value for money. I can’t see me ever finishing it.

Summer blush

e.l.f Baked Blush in Pinktastic £3.75 for 6g – I have some really fantastic e.l.f products in my collection and their baked blush & bronzers are some of my favourite. Amazing value for money and you get 6g of product. They are a little chalky but if you tap off the excess product you will be OK. This Pinktastic blush is a very subtle pink, I’d say it was more of a highlight than a blush but either way it gives your skin a healthy glow. I plan on taking this with me on holiday as its is quite small and compact.

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in Rose $11.95 for 7g – This came in a beauty swap I did last year & I admit I wanted it solely for the packaging and the love heart detail looks so pretty. But all that aside it is the perfect touch of pink, great for summer. It isn’t the most pigmented product but it leaves you looking healthy and fresh-faced & not like you have overdone it. The down side to this is the packaging is a little clumpy and not great for travel but I love the blush.

Cute Blush for Summer

Benefit High Beam £19.50 for 13ml – I have both high beam & moon beam and love them both but if I had to pick just one then high beam would win. It is on the pricey side and I have seen a few people blog about great dupes but this 13ml bottle lasts forever. I have mixed it in to my foundation for a radiant all over glow (Only a drop needed) and it looks great on the cheek bone for a real beach look. I am a huge fan of this and wouldn’t be without it in my collection. It can make quite a subtle highlight if you dab it on lightly and when the light hits you just looks radiant and glowing. Very summery.

Avon 24k Golden Glamour Duo 8g – I can’t find this for sale online, I paid £6. I have spoken about this Avon blush and highlight duo on my blog quite a few times & if you want to see a swatch you can here. I love the blush part of this duo so much it’s quite a frosty pink and looks really pretty for day or night. The highlight shade is a creamy peach shade and just adds the right amount of glow to the tops of your cheeks. I often travel with this as it is two products in one & again you get 8g of product which will last you a long time. Pixiwoo have done a video using this blush here.

Mac MSF in Soft and Gentle £21.50 for 10g – I only bought this in December and so was massively late to the party. How I lived without this I will never know (bit dramatic). Pretty isn’t a good enough word to describe this but it just gives your face a fantastic glow. I need to be careful that I don’t apply too much around my outer eye / top of cheek area as it does gather in my fine lines ( I am 35 this year). I have used this non stop for 5 months and it looks like new, like I haven’t used it. This is one product where a little goes a long way. I love having it in my collection.

So they are my 8 cheek products for the summer. Looking at them now I seem to have an obsession with baked products, I do love them and how they look. Let me know If I have mentioned any of your favourites or if I have mentioned something you have never tried before.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend

Physicians Formula

In my last post I spoke about the swap I’ve done with the lovely Casey of Beauty101Blog – she has sent me a box full of US goodies and I sent some British makeup bits. This lovely Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush was one of the things I REALLY wanted. I’d seen it online and it looked so lovely. It doesn’t disappoint in person either. So pretty.

This looks so pretty in the pan & looks similar to the Stilla Make Me Blush – I haven’t tried the Stilla blush so I can’t comment on how similar the actual products are but they look-alike in the pan and are both so pretty. I like to wear soft toned pink blushes they seem to suit my skin tone, and this Physicians Formula one looks quite natural on the skin. Just gives you a hint of a fresh flushed look. A perfect summer colour. This colour is called 7322 Rose and you get 7g of product for $11.95

They say this blush in infused with  ‘natural plant extracts which have been shown to promote a feeling of happiness by mimicking the effect of Endorphins and helping protect the skin from environmental stress’ I don’t know about that but it sounds good and if it works then that’s fine by me. I noticed that this blush also had a little light reflecting quality to it too. Making the cheeks look really healthy with a pop of colour. Anything that makes me look a little brighter and healthier is going to get the thumbs up from me.

I’m pleased with blush this and have worn it all week, it applies really well on the cheek. Not powdery at all and gives a satin finish. Very pretty indeed. Nice and natural looking. Another good thing is there us no shimmer which helps make this blush look more natural on the cheek.

The blush part flips up to reveal a brush and a mirror, this is a little gimmicky for me. The mirror is a good addition but I tend not to use the brushes that come with products as they are never really that great. It’s a cute idea but I’m not really a fan.

What American products are you lusting over. I have such a big wish list it’s getting out of control. Please tell me you’re the same.
