Ideal Girls Night In

Ideal Girls Night In

Tonight between 7.30pm – 8.30pm I will be taking part in a virtual Girls Night in With Ideal World & I’m inviting all of you to join me in discussing all things from the perfect party snacks to your top tanning tips. The Twitter chat will coincide with a 3 hour event live on the Ideal World TV Channel (so make sure you tune in to that throughout the night) as there will be exclusive deals across lots of beauty products.

Ahead of the #IdealGirlsNightIn I have been testing out some of Ideal Worlds offerings and I have said it before that if you’re a beauty addict like myself it is a great channel / shop for discovering new brands and products.

Ideal Girls Night In

GelTouch Starter Kit £49.99 but will be £39.99 during the #IdealGirlsNightIn

One very exciting product that is launching on Ideal World tonight is the Gel Touch Starter Kit and Nail Polish Set. You can’t have a girly night in without doing each others nails and this kit will allow you to get salon quality gel nails at home. The Top Coat allows you to transform ANY nail polish into a GEL in only 60 seconds. So your nails will look cute and be dry in time so you don’t miss out on the popcorn! In the starter kit you get the Gel Touch 9W LED Lamp, Clear Top Coat and Gel Cleansing Wipes

Attitude Gel Touch Nail Polish Trio £17.99

As we are approaching Spring I think it is finally time to ditch the darker shades and opt for something a little more bright and fun on your nails. These Attitude nail polishes are a perfect selection of pinks and I will be painting my nails with the middle pink share & using the gel topcoat & LED lamp to make my manicure last that little bit longer. These trios are available in a few colour options, if pink isn’t your cup of tea.

Zhuzh! Tan Accelerator £15.99 (BOGO during the Ideal Girls Night In)

A good girls night in should 100% involve some fake tan, you can get your friends to help you get that all over even tan – in those hard to reach place like your back. Ideal World are quite well known for their Zhuzh tan enhancer products and I have used this Tan Accelerator before, it’s not a fake tan but and it is great at speeding up your natural tan. It works to stimulate your skin’s natural melanin levels & it comes in a handy spray bottle for fuss free application.

Skinn Collagenesis Lip Stem Rejen Elite

Skinn Cosmetics are a skincare and makeup brand sold on Ideal World, they have a wide selection of products to suit all skintypes. I have a lip serum which sounds like it will help keep my lips looking smooth and diminish those pesky fine lines. We often forget about our lips in our skincare routine and it will be nice to have a product focused on protecting and hydrating this area.

What is a girls night in without cosy socks, these super soft fluffy socks from Joules are perfect for relaxing and getting the Hygge feeling and of course I have some delicious Tyrrells Poshcorn & I may put a rather large mojito in my cute tumbler. Let the pamper begin!

I have spoken about Ideal World quite a few times on my blog but for those that are not familiar with them they’re a home shopping channel and you can watch them on the following platforms SKY 654, Freeview 22, Virgin 747, Freesat 812 and also via live stream at www.idealworld.tv

Tropic Skincare So Sleepy Pillow Collection*

So many people tell me the best way to de-stress is to have a bath and relax but I’m one of those people that just can’t take baths, I never settle long enough to relax and I much prefer to take a shower. So I often go to bed a little stressed, especially because I go through my day in my mind mentally ticking off what I managed to achieve and making a note of what I didn’t, this can often result in me lying awake long after my bedtime. When my mind is working overtime I find it difficult to switch my brain off and drift off to sleep. I have no trouble staying asleep once I get there but its the actual falling asleep that seems to elude me sometimes.

I like to use candles and have used a few pillow sprays over the years to help relax my mind and get into that sleepy zone, one of those products that have been helping calm my mind so far in 2017 is the lovely Tropic So Sleepy Pillow Collection. This duo is just the ticket if you struggle to drift off to sleep.

This beautiful duo contains seven calming essential oils including vanilla, rose geranium, frankincense, chamomile, rosewood, rosemary and lavender. Which have been specially selected because of their calming, stress relieving properties to relax the mind and help you drift off to sleep.

You get a pillow spray and a roller ball in this collection and I think the rollerball will be a great product to take away with you on flights to use on your temples and wrists when it isn’t appropriate to use the spray.

I found this collection to be really soothing and relaxing and I like that unlike most products targeted at achieving a good nights sleep this Tropic Duo contains a lovely mix of essentials oils that includes more than just a heavy dose of Lavender. The scent of these are not overpowering or overly floral but are really beautiful and calming.

Its been quite a while since I last did a Cornwall catchup, in fact I think it was way back in December, we have now been down here for 6 months and the weather is starting to warm up again. We had such a cold wet Winter, so its nice to see the sun again. Our garden is coming together nicely and we now have a shed (exciting) and have planted lots of wild flowers seeds, so we’re hoping they start to bloom soon so the garden has a little colour. I still might plant a few veggies, let me know if you grow your own & what you find grows best and takes minimum effort.

I have found just the cutest shop called Roo’s Beach , they sell homeware, makeup, stationery and fashion & I want everything they have. Its so nicely curated and has a welcoming vibe. To make it even better, just next door is a lovely independent coffee shop called Laid Back Coffee Company, they have a lovely selection of cakes and hot drinks. We go there quite often and have a walk along the beach at Porth.

We even ventured out of the county & visited Exeter and we managed to get a gorgeous sunny day. Exeter is a beautiful City and we had been craving Wagamama as Cornwall still doesn’t have one so we satisfied that craving and ate all the food. It was nice to be amongst the hustle and bustle again but its always nice to head back home to our rural hideaway.

Catching Some Zzzz’s

The answer to a good nights sleep

Welcomin Sleep

Before I moved house I was having real trouble getting off to sleep & it was starting to get that I was still awake into the wee small hours & that’s not good for being productive or my state of mind. I was finding it difficult to switch off and I was waking up still feeling exhausted which had such a knock on effect to my day. I was making mistakes and generally feeling run down. So I thought I would share with you what I have found helps me most nights to nod off quicker.

  • This is such a simple one but I was so guilty of always being glued to my laptop. So I have banished all forms of technology from my bedroom – so no watching YouTube in bed, online shopping or scrolling through Twitter. I found having screen time late at night meant my brain wasn’t switching off & the light from the screen was often too bright and stopped me feeling sleepy. So having no devices in bed has meant my brain feels less stimulated and I am able to feel more restful.
  • Instead of using my laptop in bed I have got back into reading in a big way, I used to be the biggest bookworm until other areas of my life took up my more of my time so it’s been so good to get back on the reading wagon. Reading always makes me sleepy, and I love reading actual books, I do have a kindle that I use more if I am out of the house but reading books just feels so much better & it’s a great way to wind down and take time away from computer screens. If you have any book recommendations let me know in the comments.
  • Clipper Sleep Easy Infusion, I’m a complete tea addict and my friend Hayley & I always swap tea discoveries (rock & roll). I don’t have many drinks with caffeine in as I don’t enjoy coffee & a lot of my teas are caffeine free. I have found that drinking a specific night time tea really helps me feel calm and sleepy. This tea smells soothing and doesn’t taste too strong or bitter. It contains Cinnamon, Chamomile (25%), Honeybush, Lemon balm (5%), Valerian root (5%), Natural orange flavour. I think this tea tastes like Christmas & so is perfect for those cold Autumn / Winter nights & its become part of my nighttime routine to have a cup of this whilst reading my book in bed, it seems to be doing the trick.
  • I have had so many people recommend the This Works Can’t Sleep range so to try it out I bought this little Can’t Sleep Kit from Feel Unique for less than £10 and I’m so glad I did. It comes with a mini pillow spray & a roller ball for your pulse points & I have been using them both for almost 2 weeks and what a difference they have made. It contains essential oils of Lavender, Vetivert and Wild Camomile which all smell calming and I instantly associate with a relaxing good nights sleep. I think they do a great job of helping you drift off & are very soothing. I know want to try the candle from this Can’t Sleep range. I have heard people say they use the roller ball in stressful situations like on airplanes and when they feel a little overwhelmed, I think it does have a very calming, restful scent so I am going to pack it in my carry on next time I fly
  • I’ve also been using an energy-saving bulb in my bedroom lamp so it isn’t as bright and feels more relaxing, I also like to have my fairy lights on my bed because they are also a nice light and make me feel calm and relaxed. So I have been making small changes and it has been helping. My husband likes to go for a walk an hour or so before bed so I might go along with him and see if that helps too.

Let me know if you have any tips for getting a good nights sleep. Or if you do any of the things I have mentioned.
