Instagram Roundup Week #7

This past week has been a little stressful, my dad came home from hospital on Friday after being in there for 6 months – (thank you for all your sweet tweets). So we have been making sure he is OK and all that boring but stressful stuff. I seem to worry 100% more than anyone i know.  I worry about worrying. It’s enough to make your headspin.

We haven’t had too much time for relaxing but once my dad is a little more settled we will be going back down to Manchester (currently in Scotland & have been since my dad went into hospital). I can’t wait to sit at my desk in my comfy chair and have some stress free time.

On a side note me & the hubby have been watching a few good documentaries this week i wanted to share them with you, if thats your sort of thing.

The first was Wasteland – about an artist called Vik Muniz who goes back to his native Brazil to bring awareness to the pickers of a huge rubbish dump & uses their portraits to create an image out of the rubbish which he sells at auction and gives the pickers the money so they can use it to change their lives and the lives of those around them. It is truly an eye opening documentary.

The second was a documentary called No Impact Man – about a family in New York who live for a year trying to reduce their impact upon the environment to 0. They do some extreme things like live without electricity and don’t eat out or get takeaway food or coffee. He even throws away his wife’s makeup (NOOOOOOO). But some of what they do is inspiring. They dramatically change their lifestyle its fascinating to see.

Right now on to my week in Instagrams …..

Tunocks Caramel Wafers, A brief glimpse at what is known as the sun, OPI NOTD, Nando’s is coming to Dundee, Lazy Cat, Morning Skincare this week.

Origins Face Mask, BalanceMe Freebies in Glamour, Avon Nail Polish with No7 Glitter Top Coat, The Hubby <3 , Scottish Money, REN skincare in Red Magazine

American Apparel Nail Lacquer

I like everything about these little beauts. The American Apparel packaging is so nice – the slim but chunky bottels feel great and AA have such an amazing range of colours. They might not be the cheapest polishes on the market but at £9 for 15ml you get alot of product for your buck. I managed to pick these up on a deal, 3 for £21 so I got a real bargain.

The 3 colours I picked up were Malibu Green (blue/green), Lipstick (phenomenal rich red) and One Metallic shade in Smoke Dazzle (metallic gray/silver).

I am kicking myself for not picking up some NEON colours whilst i was there. They’re on my NEED list for sure. I used 2 coats for good coverage and as always my Sally Hansen top coat. The colours lasted well with the Smoke Dazzle lasting the best i managed to get 4 days wear out of this bad boy! I would recommend picking up some of these as i said they have an  amazing colour selection.

Do you own any of the American Apparel Nail Lacquer’s – if so what colours would you recommend?

Garnier Tinted Eye Roll – On

Garnier Tinted Eye Roll -On, I’ve had this for about 2 months and didn’t use it for a long time. Not too sure why – I think I wasn’t too sure where to incorporate it into my routine. I picked it up in superdrug on their 3 for 2 deals. I wanted to see what it was all about really. I picked it up in the colour meduim.

First off i think i got the wrong colour – well i thought i would’ve been a little more tanned than i am. But due to the lack of summer in Britain i am still as pale as I was in December. So my face is pale too. This would have been a great colour for my summer self. Right, so its a little dark for me right now but i have been wearing it and making it work for my pale skin.

The ball has a cooling feeling on the undereye area which is really nice. I put this on over my foundation i used two sweeps under the eye then patted it in, its like a mini massage. I think that helps wake your eyes up. It does the job of covering dark circles – but I don’t think it would cover heavy duty dark circles.  I think its more the caffeine element that makes your eyes look more awake, but thats not a long term solution. It’s what i would call a quick fix. It would work well if you didn’t need alot of concealor and like a more natural look.

I would also say that it has a little highlighter quality to it, so thats great at brightening your undereye area. You can pick this up at Boots & Superdrug for £9 – £10 for 15ml I dont think i would pay full price for this but its worth a go. If you’re like me I need to try things and see what they are all about.

I agree its very hydrating and illuminating, but I think there are better concealors out there that are longer wearing. Have you tried this what did you think?

Origins Checks & Balances Frothy Face Wash

Origins skincare gift set

This face wash came as part of a Be Bright Origins Gift Set. You get,

  • Brighter By Nature High Potency Brightening peel pads
  • Brighter By Nature Skin Tone Correcting Serum
  • Starting Over Age-erasing oil-free moisturiser with Mimosa
  • Checks & Balances Frothy Face Wash

I will review the other products separately. I just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed using the Frothy Face Wash. I use this in the morning in place of my Jurlique Cleanser (I still use this in the evening). I have to tell you that you need the SMALLEST, I can’t emphasise enough that you really need a pea sized amount of this to wash your whole face. This 50ml tube is going to last me ages.

This stuff lathers up like nothing else, it’s crazy, it certainly lives up to its Frothy namesake. It also smells so fresh, like mint, so if you like the smell of mint you will love this. Once on your face it feels like a creamy face mask, it’s quite a thick consistency – not that it hardens or anything like that. Once rinsed off it leaves your face feeling smooth and tight, not dehydrated, but your skin feels firm and really clean. It has a luxurious feel to it, which is nice as often face washes strip your skin of moisture and clog pores, but this doesn’t do that. It gives you a deep clean and leaves your skin feeling great.

I have very sensitive skin and found this face wash was very gentle and soothing, the creamy texture leaves your skin feeling moisturised and fresh. My skin has been blemish free and my t zone has been a lot less oily. The sample size in the box is 50ml, but you can purchase this separately

I really recommend this for dull, tired looking skin – give it a go.
