Diptyque Philosykos Eau de Parfum

Diptyque Philosykos Eau de Parfum £120

So it has been quite a while since I last posted on my blog. I have been jotting down ideas for posts and taking product photos here and there but let’s face it, 2020 has been a roller-coaster of a year and I just couldn’t focus on too many things at once. Health, family and getting through the days became a priority. I didn’t feel like I had anything to say that was relevant or helpful over the past few months. I have just been here in Cornwall, working from home and trying to stay positive.

I did manage to leave the county for the first time in 7 months, to visit family in Manchester & Scotland which was amazing and very needed. Whilst I was away I treated myself to something that I have lusted over for so long and with this year being a bit of a nightmare I felt like this was the perfect time to get it, you’ve got to treat yourself, right!

I finally bought the beautiful Diptyque Philosykos Eau de Parfum and let me tell you I am IN LOVE with it. I knew I was going to like it as I have sprayed it every time I went into Selfridges, but I always talked myself out of buying it. I’m so glad I didn’t do that this time as it has brought me a lot of joy, even though there are not many calls at the moment to get all dressed to go to parties or events I have been using it (sparingly) on a daily basis. It feels decadent and luxurious to use it as my every day fragrance but life is so full of restrictions and negativity that it feels good to wear my favourite perfume. When I wear it I feel happy and I can smell it on myself all day long, this perfume has some serious staying power. It is intense and rich and luckily a few sprays is all you need (I don’t want it to run out too quickly).

This perfume has been on my wish list for so long, because I adore fig scented products and this is one of the best I have tried. It is fresh but intense and sweet all at the same time. I also like that is is quite romantic and earthy too. It has layers of notes that you can smell throughout the day, as it settles. I know most people would associate this perfume with Summer but I will be wearing it into Autumn & Winter, I think the crispness of the notes make it a nice fresh scent for the colder months too.

Top Notes – Fig Leaf

Middle Notes – Wood, Coconut

Base Notes – White Cedar

What perfumes have you been loving this year, have you treated yourself to something a little special? Let me know any recommendations, I love to try new fragrances.

Crabtree Evelyn Pomegranate and Argan Oil Collection

Over the years I have used a few products from Crabtree & Evelyn but I only seem to repurchase their hand creams so I was excited to learn that they’ve released a whole host of new products that are focused around our wellbeing! Crabtree Evelyn Pomegranate and Argan Oil Collection

Over the past few weeks I’ve been trying out 3 products from 3 of the Everyday Wellbeing Collection and my skin has been getting a pamper in the process.

Pomegranate and Argan Oil Nutri Oil

This Pomegranate and Argan Oil range features antioxidant rich Pomegranate, pistachio, ginger extract and grape seed oils as well as nutritive Argan oil. I have been putting the Nutri-Oil to the test and it has been so good for hydrating my skin, especially after this lovely warm weather we’ve been having in Cornwall.

I also really like that this is multi use oil which can be used pretty much anywhere. It is great for nourishing dry damaged hair, massaging into cuticles, using all over your body and it is even gentle enough to use on your face. I’m taking this with me on holiday this week so I can hydrate and nourish dry hair, nails and skin all with this one oil. That has to mean I am packing light for a change.

Because this is a very lightweight oil there is not greasy residue, it is easily absorbed and leaves your body looking healthy with a subtle glow. This Nuti Oil smells amazing, it has a lovely sweetness from the pomegranate, orange and fig but I can also really make out the ginger which gives it a nice warm calming scent.

Crabtree Evelyn Rosewater Pink Peppercorn Body Gel

Rosewater and Pink Peppercorn Body Gel

This Rosewater and Pink Peppercorn range features the fragrance of rose petals, spicy pink peppercorn, fresh peony, bergamot, Tonka Bean and Akigalawood (a new natural captive derived from Patchouli) which together with olive oil and Vitamin E, quench thirsty skin.

This has to be the most luxurious, absorbent and incredibly lightweight body product I have ever tried. As the name states this is a body gel and it is ideal for people who find body butters / lotions too heavy or greasy.  I would say this feels almost like a serum for your body. I have been slathering it on my legs after my morning shower (which is when I shave my legs) this gel makes them feel silky smooth and also to stop them drying out.

Its incredibly light formula means you don’t have to wait ages to put your clothes on, which is why I prefer to use it in the morning so I don’t have to waste time waiting for my body lotion. This gel sinks into the skin really quickly and gives it a healthy smooth, glow.

This scent is a little more classic with the distinctive rose notes but it does have that twist of peppercorn and bergamot which bring out more of a masculine vibe which I really like. This is quite a whopper of a pot at 250ml so it is going to last me well into Autumn.

NEW Crabtree and Evelyn Everyday Wellbeing Collection

New Crabtree Evelyn Bodycare Releases

Goat Milk and Oat Hand Therapy

This Goat Milk and Oat range features free range goat’s milk, nourishing oat kernel, skin- conditioning vitamin E and lavender blended with rose, geranium and bergamot. It is so calming, soothing and very hydrating. I I didn’t expect too much from this as I find hand creams can be much of a muchness but after using this just once my hands felt hydrated, smooth and so soft. I instantly put it to my handbag so I have it with me all the time.

This new collection is formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates and propylene glycol. Let me know if you have tried any products from the new Wellbeing Collections.

CULT51 Night Cream Review

Cult51 Skincare

Cult51 Skincare

CULT51 Night Cream £125* is a product with bold claims – claiming to have over 51 anti-ageing benefits with long-term, lasting results and clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by up to 52% in just 28 days. I have to say these claims intrigued me & made me sceptical in equal measures. CULT51 also carries a hefty price tag of £125 & one that even after 3 months of using I’m not 100% sure is worth it. I’m someone that isn’t put off a product because its cheap or expensive, I like a product that I think is worth it no matter what end of the price scale it sits.

I think this is one of the hardest reviews I have written because It is so expensive & if you go out & buy it I want you to be 100% happy with it. CULT51 say,

‘CULT51 produces unprecedented results; fine lines, wrinkles and age spots are reduced, skin tone is brightened to create a more flawless and radiant appearance whilst naturally and dramatically slowing the ageing process.’.

I’ve been using this cream almost every night for 3 months and I’ve seen some visible results not sure if all the 51 signs of ageing are being tackled but almost immediately after the first few uses my skin felt smooth and hydrated.

In the long term, this cream also promises to,

Reduce Wrinkles – Immediately fills wrinkles and fine lines for a smoother, more youthful complexion. With continued use, wrinkle depth is permanently reduced.
Boost Hydration – Hyaluronic acid helps lock in moisture, plumping and softening the skin.
Firm Skin –  Adds visible firmness and lift to even the most tired complexion.
Brightens the Complexion – Fades dark spots and evens skin tone for a glowing, unified complexion.

I would say that my fine lines aren’t as prominent and my skin is looking brighter and rejuvenated. I wake up looking less like death warmed up. My skin feels and looks hydrated and it has brightened my complexion. But my skin doesn’t feel or look firmer. So 3 out of 4 points I would agree with but is that worth the £125 price tag?

The cream has a rich luxurious feel, it’s quite thick but not at all greasy on the skin and once massaged in its absorbed quickly leaving the skin velvety soft and nourished. The cream has a subtle fresh scent with notes of gardenia, jasmine and rose. A jar I would say will last about 6 months so you do get a good amount of product for your money.

Cult51 Moisturiser

I’m so torn by this cream, I like it and have enjoyed using it and as I said I have seen improvements in my skin. I’ve been thinking about when it runs out & would I repurchase it, and I have to be honest and say I wouldn’t I’ve tried some wonderful products that have done a similar if not better job and cost a little less than this one. I will be sad when it runs out but I won’t be in a rush to replace it. If it was more £70 I might be tempted.

CULT51 Night Cream

That’s just my opinion and I know that this cream has a big following and works very well for a lot of people, you might very well be one of them. If so I would love to know what visible results you saw from using this cream.
