Cute and Curly

Naked Curl Defining Shampoo and Conditioner*

I was kindly sent these a few weeks ago to try. I’ve naturally wavy hair with a slight curl (often frizzy). I love to wear my hair natural and very rarely style it or straighten it. I like the messy wave look. You may say lazy look. So I was thrilled to give these a go.

Naked are a brand that pride themselves on being Vegan and Vegetarian friendly, I know this is important for alot of people. They’re also a natural brand with their products being up to 99.7% natural. The two I am testing are 97%  natural and are free from parabens, SLS and  petrochemicals only the good stuff is left in. You can read their mission statement here

I found that these work better together. This isn’t always the case with hair care. They often say to use the corresponding shampoo & conditioner but often there is no need. With the Naked Curl Defining Range I found that my hair was alot more bouncy and less frizzy if I use both. If I used just the shampoo my hair would be glossy and wavy but my curls just weren’t as defined as when I used both the Shampoo and Conditioner.

Both products were lovely and not stripping in the least. In fact I found them nourishing. The Conditioner wasn’t too heavy, I think that’s why your curls are more bouncy as it doesn’t weigh your hair down and it’s really easy to rinse off. I’ve been going 3 days without washing my hair which is a first for me. These Naked products don’t coat your hair & make them greasy. They clean and nourish and the effects last a few days.

Naked is available online or in your local Boots. Curl Defining Shampoo £3.98 250ml & Curl Defining Conditioner £3.98 250ml

What have you tried from Naked? Have you tried this Curl defining range?

Feeling Lucky

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to win Stephanie’s Elemis Freshskin giveaway over on her blog British Beauty Blagger. I was super exited as I’ve only ever tried 2 things from Elemis and both were samples. So to win some lovely skincare was fab & it feels like an early Christmas Present.

This Elemis Skincare is perfect for my skin type as it’s geared towards oily, blemish-prone skin – My T Zone is a mess at the moment, I’m hoping this helps balance it out. So the prize included: Treatment Gel, Overnight Serum, Purifying Face Wash and Mattifying Moisturiser.

Elemis Skinfresh is available to buy from Superdrug now so thats really handy. Have you tried any Elemis products? What would you recommend?

A little Nip + Fab Body Butter

Nip + Fab Pistachio Sundae Body Butter *

I was lucky enough to get this Body Butter in the Live Bloggers goody bag back in September and I’ve been using it since. I’m hooked on this stuff. It’s specifically for dry skin – so this was the best time of year to put that to the test.

I think first off the number one thing about this Nip + Fab Pistachio Sundae Body Butter is the scent, its heavenly. I have the pot on my desk (I work from home) & I find myself just taking the lid off to smell it & I have been known to use it as a hand cream. The scent is THAT good. I have heard this is a great dupe for the Laura Mercier Crème de Pistache Soufflé Body Crème – I can’t confirm that. But I do know that this Nip + Fab version is a fraction of the price and the sweet Pistachio scent is amazing. AMAZING 😮

As I said this is aimed at dry skin and I fit that bill to a T. My skin is really dry on my legs. I have been using the body butter a couple of times a week at night only on my legs as these are the driest part and this is quite a heavy butter. I find it takes a while to absorb but it’s really easy to massage in as it’s not too thick, in fact it is quite creamy/buttery consistency. It feels and smell luxurious and I like the ritual of putting it on. Its been a god send over the past few weeks esp as it has really got cold & my skin dry.

I find that using it over night gives it time to really absorb into the skin without feeling greasy throughout the day. I wake up in the morning to lovely smooth skin – that smells so good. This really does get the thumbs up from me. You get a really good-sized pot – 200ml for £9.95

Have you tried anything from Nip + Fab? I have my eye on the Body Butter Bundle – 3 body butters in the scents Mango Smoothie, Coconut Latte & Pistachio Sundae. I also like the sound of the Dark Circle Fix

Nail Care Trio

Bourjous Magic Nail Polish Remover / Sally Hansen Gel Cuticle Remover / Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

I’m quite lazy when it comes to my nails. I go through periods of taking care f them & I promise myself I will stick at it but the inevitable always happens and they get neglected. I’ve made it my daily new year resolution to REALLY take care of them. I have been looking through my nail care products to see what I have & what I need to buy (any excuse to go shopping).

These 3 products are ones that I do use – although the Bourjous Magic Nail Polish Remover I could live without & when its finished I am not too sure I will repurchase. Yes it is quick and makes the task of removing your nail polish easy. But it isn’t great at taking off glitter polish & you can’t take your toe nail polish off with it either so you always need to have a regular bottle of remover & cotton wool anyway so why have both??

The Sally Hansen Gel Cuticle Remover is really good. I picked this up in TK Maxx for £3 & when I remember to use it – it worked well. You just apply it to your cuticles and leave it for 10 minutes then wash it off and push back your cuticles. This removes any excess skin and keeps those pesky cuticles at bay. SO I really like this. Its cheap & works well.

The Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream is something I’ve had for at least a year, it looks like I have hardly used it. It’s going to last for a really long time. I do take this everywhere in my handbag. My cuticles and around my nail gets so dry so I am forever rubbing this on to my fingers & my hubby even used it on a flight once as his hands were so dry and he really liked it too. The action of rubbing it in I find really relaxing and its citrus scent os so good. This product is a god send during these epic dry months.

So fellow bloggers I need some nail care recommendations. What should I add to my regime? Any oils or products to strengthen my nails? I need some advice.
