Lacura Thermal Spring Facial Care* £1.99

This is a new release from Aldi’s skincare brand Lacura, who seem to produce some of the best affordable skincare on the highstreet. I have tried quite a few of their products and they always impress me. This Thermal Spring Moisturiser comes packaged in a frosted glass jar which makes the product feel luxurious and a lot more expensive than it is.

The cream its self is formulated for stressed, sensitive skin and is infused with natural thermal water to soothe and moisturise the skin. It contains containing minerals and trace elements which come from natural, mineral groundwater that emerges from the ground at a temperature of over 20°C. This makes a really nice daily moisturiser that does a good job at hydrating and soothing the skin. There is no SPF in this so you will need to wear a separate one but I really like this and think it would appeal to all ages. I want to try a few more products from this thermal spring line and think this is another wonderful release from Lacura.

Superdrug Vitamin E Nourishing Eye Cream £2.99

I really like a lot of products from Superdrug’s own skincare line and think they make such great quality affordable options. I’ve been using this eye cream religiously since December at I still have quite a bit of product left. You need only a pea sized amount for both eyes and I just tap it in around the orbital bone and it helps to hydrate, nourish and smooth that area. Its not the lightest in texture but if you tap it in until its absorbed it doesn’t leave the eye area feeling greasy. Its very gentle and never irritates my eyes. I also like the cleanser and moisturiser from this Vitamin E range. For £2.99 I highly recommend trying it out.

Garnier Skin Active Clearly Brighter SPF15 Moisturiser

This is a lightweight daily moisturiser that helps hydrate, brighten and smooth out my skin. Its non greasy and absorbs quickly, It also smooths out my skin so I find it wears well under my makeup. It has contains anti oxidant rich Vitamin C and E as well as gentle exfoliating Lip-Hydroxyl Acid (salicylic acid). This is a great affordable moisturiser, especially if you have dull skin and its a nice option for the warmer months because it is lightweight on the skin. It does have a light citrus scent to it which isn’t offensive but I do with it was fragrance free and I would have preferred it to have a higher SPF but I do like this moisturiser and have been using it a lot over the past 4 months.

Superdrug Simply Pure Hydrating Serum £2.69

I seem to be all about the skincare that soothes, hydrates & nourishes (I have dull, dehydrated skin) and this absolute bargain of a serum from Superdrug is one of the best I have EVER tried. Bold claims I know. I was introduced to this by The Ting Thing who sings its praises & I trust her opinion 100%,  so I had to track it down (its almost always sold out in my local Superdrug).

I’m now on to my 3rd bottle and I’m still loving using it because it just leaves my skin feeling so incredibly soft and my fine lines are reduced because it is extremely hydrating. It contains Hyluronic Acid which helps your skin retain moisture, most of us skincare addicts have heard of this wonder ingredient and I was surprised to see that this purse friendly serum had this listed as an ingredient. So its a fantastic serum if your skin is in need of hydration and is looking a little lackluster. It feels light on the skin and doesn’t take long for it to skink in. It is also fragrance free and alcohol free which is wonderful news if you have sensitive skin.

If I could recommend only one of my four favourite affordable products it would 100% be the Simply Pure Hydrating Serum – its a steal at £2.69 (you best be adding it to your MUST try list).

Spring is in the air

Today felt like the beginning of Spring, it was glorious sunshine but still with a crisp chill in the air. It feels ike forever since I felt the sunshine. I know that by next week it will more likely be gloomy again, but I thought I best start getting my legs Spring ready. They have been hidden away for months and are going to take a little TLC before I even dare get them out.

Spring Ready

Spring Ready

Greenland Coconut Milk & Lime Scrub* This is good at buffing off the dead skin and leaving skin feeling soft and smooth. Its scent is also fresh and perfect for Spring. The lime is zesty and the coconut reminds me of holiday.

Balance Me Rose Otto Body Balm* I use this on my legs after I have shaved, it keeps them from becoming dry and leaves them smooth. Its balm texture is lovely and rich if you warm it up between your hands it melts a little and is easier to massage in. This balm is really good under the Garnier Moisturising Lotion. This is a hefty pot and will last you ages!

Laura Mercier Body & Bath Creme Brulee Souffle – This smells so damn good, I never tire of its sweet scent. I tend to use this at night as its very think and rich. I find it a little to heavy for daytime. Its very luxurious and makes the perfect pampering treat. The jar is glass & looks pretty in the bathroom {very important}. I want to try the bath soak to go with this. I think they’d make the best duo

Garnier Moisturising Lotion – I must confess I have never fake tanned {shocker} but I do like to have a little colour on my legs so these gradual tanners are my thing. This one from Garnier is pretty good, you need to have used a scrub and I like to moisturise before hand too that way I get less streaks. You can build the colour up over a couple of days but don’t expect anything too dark. It gives a nice natural even sun kissed look and thats just what I need.

So I’m hoping that these 4 products help keep my legs looking their best and ready for the sunny weather.

If you have any good Gradual Tanner recommendations I’d love to hear them. How do you get you get Spring ready?

Products that are marked with an * have either been sent to me for my consideration or I’ve received at events. I’m under no obligation to review them on my blog. However if I do, the reviews are 100% my own.

New Purchases

I picked up a couple of things one is a repeat purchase (Garnier) whilst the other two items are new for me. I am a sucker for buying things I really don’t need, like the Dove Body Lotion – I seriously have four body lotions to use up & I saw this was new and thought “Oh I have to try that” and was sucked right in. When will I learn?

Trying a few new things

The Garnier Eye Makeup Remover £2.99 for 150ml is a repeat purchase, I really like it. My eyes are really sensitive and there are quite a few products that I can’t use are they irritate my eyes. This Garnier one is very gentle and is great at removing all my mascara and eyeliner. I do cleanse afterwards too but I like to remove the bulk of it before I do and this works well. It smells lovely and clean – not sure it smells of grape, I’d say more of cucumbers but either way its nice. I wish it came in a larger bottle that’s my only gripe

I seem to collect body lotions and this Dove Shape Up one has been added to my collection. I do apply body lotion every day as I have really dry skin on my legs, I blame this crappy miserable weather for that. I bought this Dove Shape Up Firming Body Cream whilst is was half price in Boots, so I paid £2 for 250ml – full price is £3.99. It claims to be firming but lets face it nothing really firms other than exercise. I am under no illusions that my wobbly bits will be vanishing anytime soon. This is a very nice consistency and really moisturises my dry areas so that is fine with me.

The Muji Eyelash Curlers £4.50 were my last purchase and one that I was a little too excited for. I have been using my No7 eyelash curlers for the longest time and I hardly ever used them. I have quite small eyes and these eyelash curlers were far too big for me and I didn’t know the benefits of having ones that actually dud their job. Now I have these Muji ones I curl my lashes every single day, yes I am one of those women who have been introduced to the world of kick ass curlers!!! I am in love with these little beauties and they were a complete bargain. I will never be without them and highly recommend them if you’re suffering with second-rate ones that don’t even fit your eye let alone curl your lashes.

I need a lie down after that declaration of love. Have you tried any of the products I bought? If so let me know what you thought of them.

This weeks face

I’ve been wearing quite minimal makeup this week as I’ve mostly been in the house or the Post Office. Neither place being very glam or worthy if a full on face of makeup. So i kust threw on quite a simple look. I thought i’d share the limited makeup I’ve been using this week.

The Peep Show Mascara from 17 is so nice. I use 2 coats and my lashes look so long. This has been my bargain go to mascara over the last couple of months.  The elf eye primer is also something I use daily its a great price and works really well to keep my eyeshadow on all day. This Rimmel eyeshadow I picked up in the pound shop and is a lovely soft pink colour the shade is called Precious Rose 140 – its subtle and makes your eyes look bright and fresh. I’ve been using the Garnier Eye Roll On a little more, I’ve finally got used to the colour and it seems to work really well on me its great under the eye. I did a blog on it here if you fancy reading it.

Now this Bobbi Brown concealer kit is OK  i have the shade warm beige – but i won’t be repurchasing this. I do have the corrector aswell & will repurchase that. But this concealor really sits in my under eye creases and I hate that, It looks awful. I think this is too thick and not the best formula. I LOVE my Mac MSF Natural in the colour medium and use it all the time. Its such a light powder and give your face a lovely finish.

I’ve a love hate relationship with my Mac Satin Finish Foundation. I go through periods when it just doesn’t look good on my skin and them i try it again and love it. Its weird. But I’m wearing it this week and really liking it again. I wear the shade NC25.
